There's something elemental about the way your eyes lock into mine
There's something so raw about your touch
You say all the right things
At all the right times
Out of my deepest darkness's
You put this huge smile on my face and I just can't fight it
But you're just not right.
When all the others cast me aside and I feel so unwanted
It's like magic but you're there to sweep me off into the night
You praise me as your goddess
Even though you know my faults and see my humanity
The smallest things you do make me feel so adored
I always feel wanted when you're around
But you're just not the one I want.
Sweep me off with you into eternity
Let's watch the sun rise
Let me feel this way just a little longer
Before you go your way
I know you have to leave
And it can't be another way
You couldn't keep me even if I admitted I wanted you to.
Music blaring through the stereo
Ice cream stains my lower lip where your kiss missed
Admitting what we wanted turned adults into children
Nervous grins and giggles and shaky touches as we remove our jackets
Let's get up and dance
My hips sway and you keep pace
We got lost in the moment and everyone but us remembers the scene.
Every person we know sees right through us,
Both awful liars, we never stood a chance.
Yes, my leg was shaking in the movie when you grabbed my hand,
I was bluffing, and you knew it too.
Don't let me get to you, I'm aloof.
I hate it that you're playing my game, because now you too are so hard to read.
We're falling apart and we hardly got any time to fall together.
I don't know what you're thinking,
You and I don't seem to share everything anymore.
We both see your departure on the horizon,
Dread the sun's next resurrection.
It's obvious what's happened to us,
But we cannot and will not stop it.
We are over before we got a chance to begin.
I won't be over this soon,
Your words smell of promises for some reason I have faith you'll keep.
I wasn't looking at you,
And I wasn't looking for someone to enter my life the way you did.
You swept me off my feet anyhow,
And I'm not sure what we are now.
There is something primal and natural about you and me.
I did everything within my power to prevent us from falling here,
You held back so many times we could have slipped,
Both resisting so hard,
But somehow it didn't matter.
Nobody can take this away from us
Because we refuse to claim it.
What we had was never what we wanted to have.
Will I be able to join you soon like we planned?
If I do, will your arms be open wide for me, ready to hold me?
I have so many questions I want to ask you now,
But there can't be any answers until there is more we know.
Our fate is out of our hands right now,
And I may end up turning away for a life opposite the one we could have together.
We're dancing on the horizon towards the sunrise we don't want to come,
But we wouldn't have it any other way.
Will you hold my hand this one last time?
