• Lay and rest, weary soldier,
As you have fought long and hard.
You have finally finished the arduous task
Of protecting the land you guard.

You have survived the toils of war
    And your enemies lie slain.
Now lay your head and rest, weary soldier,
So that you may ease your pain.

    But remember, man of war
Of your comrades that have been stilled.
And the sacrifices you have made
And of the people that you’ve killed.

    Remember this, survivor,
    That all life does end.
That your soul belongs to me – Death
And I am not your friend.

    Sins matter not, old soldier,
    Nor your good deeds.
    Your kindness means nothing,
    And neither does your greed,.

King or peasant, thief or knight
    Your life may be free,
    But as all living things,
    You soul belongs to me

So lay and rest, slayer of men
And let you dreams be sweet.
As I patiently await the time
    When we shall finally meet.
