• I turned my back on the Moon and started a voyage
Plunged deep into waters not yet charted
And though my ship seems at times to be sinking
I see land on the horizon
Your hands are the only safe place for me to leave my life in
    And I don’t care if they’re small
Just as long as they hold fast
In freezing snow, knee deep in oysters
I pray your strength will last
I don’t need you to fight
But if you’re willing, lead the way
    On this perilous journey
We seek shelter in the day
    And push on at night
With no other place to stay
We are both chased by demons that reek of dismay
    And bad decisions
We left our lives in disarray
I was broken down in December
But I’ll be fixed by May
I want you to tell me
    Everything I’ve heard before
Because your lips have a way of making words mean more
Than I could ever make them
    Though I am a poet
    I still suffer this storm
Choking down sleet but still I stay warm
    Knowing you’re nearby
Even if not by my side
You are most likely ahead outpacing my stride
I want to see light again
But the sun is shielded by pride
I admit, when I told the Moon I loved her,
    I lied
Cuz I don’t know what love is
I just need a proper guide
To bring me to the end of this Odyssey of mine
There are too many monsters to battle alone
Poseidon is angry and I’ve shattered my bones
Trying to find peace in the walls of your home
Trying to dig up all the seeds that I’ve sown
So I can conjure a garden at the foot of your throne
Which is built out of all the monsters of your own
I saw my ship set sail smoothly
    When this comedy began
But it’s hit some rough spots
After all, I’m just a man
    Trying to battle Gods
    And I don’t know if I can
    Trying to battle demons
I went in without a plan
But with you as my guide
I hold the world in my hand
Like the oysters that made their way onto scorched sand
I still have my sea legs, though I have reached land
But with you by my side
    I know I will stand
