Watch the bodies hit the ground
Watch as they all fall down
Listen to their deathly sound
Look, death is all around
Here we are, wait to die
It will come, don't you sigh
You are next for your lie
Listen as the women cry
This is for our sin
The welts under our skin
Feel our blood growing thin
Feel it and watch it begin
Lay yourself bare
Look to Mary fare
Keep yourself within her care
Even through this deep despair
Oh mother of our lord
You whom we have adored
Oh how we have implored
Heal our wounds or end with a sword
It started at the seas
With the East's trading sprees
It has brought us to our knees
Carried in the bite of fleas
And from my brother it came to me
From the ocean and the sea
What a curse it came to be
Killing me and thee
Please tell us we are forgiven
Take us in your hand to heaven
Take us to a secret Eden
Away from this year of 1347

- *Shivers* your words really make me imagine the suffering and hopeless penitence. I can see clearly how lost and horrified they must have felt, grasping at any last hope they could, even if that meant "the sword."
