There lives a girl, far away,
Where the rivers run high and the trees do sway
And the breeze blows pleasant in spring.
But she does not live so close to there
As she does the caverns, not nearly as fair,
In the cold and the dark, away from all else.
And she lives in darkness, the light just round the corner,
But she lays in silence, her head hung like a mourner's,
Because she is chained ev'ry which way.
The girl cannot escape, despite her strength
She can only reach, and even then at short length,
Towards the light she can never touch.
Her screams echo out of the caves now and then,
And it's only so long before it happens again,
In her eternal torture.
But little does she know the light grows brighter
And each and every day, a little bit brighter,
Summer is approaching in the outside world.
Soon she shall be free,
Though she knows not of what she'll see
Or when that time will even come.

- Description: An image that has been stuck in my head for a while now. I originally planned to use her as a character in a story, but I feel like exploring her with this first would help some.
