The heat flees far southward and cold weather races.
Warmth comes from coffee, candles, and fireplaces.
Joy from family, gift-giving and charity donations
Celebrations with lights and music across the nations.
Grand meals are cooked in hope to appease all
The leaves change their pigments and begin to fall.
A crunch under heels from leaves below
A crunch from cold water when it is snow.
Less out on streets and more time inside
Wrapped up in blankets as if to hide.
Toys on a list, scribbled in crayon.
Children grow impatient for a fat man.
Relationships broken begin to mend.
Autumn begins, and too soon shall end.

- Title: Autumnal Commemoration
- Artist: TechnicalAo
- Description: I haven't written poetry in a while now. It brings me much sorrow that my years will begin to lack creative writing. In high school, we had a beautiful literacy festival with writers who gave great advice and it was so much fun. Now, I have no such thing at college and nowhere to send my writing except here. I miss the literacy festival so much. I suppose this is the best I have for now. Please offer advice and critique my poem a bit for me?
