I played Zomg! when it first came out. I got in at the tail end of the beta. I made it as far as Basskin Lake, past the Zen Garden, but I lost interest. Never played it again.

Yeah, that pretty much also summed up my experiences with zOMG (this is coming from someone who somehow managed to put up with Runescape). Still, after waiting since it was The Gaia Online Battle System, it's still a shame they shut it down.

Huh, I guess since I hadn't been on Gaia for a while, I had no idea how things have changed. Seems people aren't quite happy with Gaia Online anymore. Also, these constant announcements telling me to spend real money are getting on my nerves.

you and me both! I remember a simpler time of gaia, where there were few NPCs, a person could be 10 people, and we only had 4 mods, and you didn't have to pay for gold. if you did, you would get in trouble. there were also announcements when it was a BIG announcement, not just hey buy more stuff from the site that isn't tangible.

Yeah, it's a real shame microtransactions on sites like Gaia Online and even Neopets seem to be simply accepted now. I kind of wish I was a little more confident back in the good old days of Gaia so I could have actually got involved in some of the older events.

oh neopets. how I used to like thee. till I got virus very yes on my computer at the time. that and I gave my account to someone else after a while. I've considered going back, but at the same time, I'm too scared to. I had a LOOOOOT of neopoints. I think I was at platinum level at that rate. but I hated that you could only be in one guild at a time. like why not several? I liked a lot! I had to quit then quit then sing in then sign in... it was dumb! I was in at least 3 clubs at school for a while so why couldnt I be part of at least 3-5? I had the name guitar_godess666 on that site, and gave it to a girl younger than me. I think they banned that account and everything at that point was worthless. all the rare plushies I had... worthless. same here on gaia. all that money I spent on donation letters, worthless. the few I have left arent worth as much as I had hoped. I know they too started a cash system and were having card gamesa nd consol games, dont know if they ever got off the ground.. I quit back in 2006 or 2007? maybe 2008? around then. I had been an active member of them since the end of the 90s early 2000. I know I was in middle school when I started with them and it was their second year just like on gaia I started in 04.

I guess profiles also need a little attention from the Gaia Online staff.

the site needs a lot of work. it needs better security and better staff that isnt annoying. they have banned several people over nothing or violating the TOS with no warnings. they have been banning people who have been on the site for so long. they also had a big DDOS attack back in November for almost a week around veterans day. they REALLY need to up everything and stop worrying about getting $100-1000 per hour per user. some of us dont make that. I noticed some of their games have to be paid for as well. which is stupid. I think Lanzer forgot why this site was built to begin with. I'm mostly here for roleplaying, but even my guild is dead now. Heck even the homestarmy died....

well he did return at some convention that I didnt get to go to. I havent been as college has consumed my soul. someday... someday I'll be back to have fun there. but it felt like 20yrs to me... and I know what 20yrs is... I'm waaaay older than that.

Other than that trailer I posted in that other thread, it seems things have gone quiet again. My best guess is they might be working on that website overhaul that Matt mentioned in that interview before returning. Something about the current design not making much sense to new people and I think they're also updating things for bigger screens. Can't quite remember everything 100% right now.

well they do have a lot on their plate with their lives, but it would be interesting to see the site a little different, or a new screen, or a new answering machine.
