La Belle Isolde My friend, his sister's went to a Catholic camp and they asked all the girls to raise their hands if they'd been sexually abused or raped. Then they told them that it was their faults. God... What... the... ********!? how the hell did they come to that god awful conclusion? Oooh I would've gotten up and made such a scene they would've had to drag me out kicking and screaming

...see, I actually did go to a Christian youth camp when I was a kid.
And I am...honestly disgusted. We were just kids out in the country having a good time. We did trust-building activities and Bible studies and community service, rode horseback, did nature hikes, went to group services, did canoing and fishing and swimming...
It was actually fun. And to hear about camps that do that brainwashing s**t and tear kids down? No. That is not right.

It's sickening really what some Christians have boiled down to, and then my dad teases me about wanting to turn Buddhist, why do you think? I'm starting to get disgusted with Christians... Catholics being part of that lovely group

Maybe that's the difference. The camp that Belle mentioned was Catholic, the one in Jesus Camp I think is Pentecostal, Fred Phelps is Batshit Baptist...
Carol Joy Holling (the camp I went to) is a Lutheran camp. *shrug* Perhaps we're just less batshit than the other branches of Christianity. neutral

Silver Hellsing No matter what though, every branch of a religion is probable to have some batshit crazy people in it. Yeah. -_-; I've encountered far less of them in my traditional corner of the religious sandbox though. (ELCA Lutheran.) There's a ton of different synods within the Lutheran church, just in America. *sigh* Wisconsin Synod is probably the most conservative. Missouri's pretty bad too, but...I dunno.

Novatierrie Wisconsin Synod is probably the most conservative. Missouri's pretty bad too, but...I dunno. God damned cow hoarders. *laughs at self because most of her family is from Wisconsin* 8D;; Unrelated, but....
My dad was a Lutheran, so is my brother-in-law. Though, sadly, I have no care for religions.
