Is this too minimalistic? The only thing on the screen is a bar on the bottom, 66% of the width of the screen, that contains a clock, a way to switch windows, and a way to switch virtual desktops. A menu is accessed by right clicking anywhere on the desktop and shows an application list, the currently open windows, and means of logout and shutdown. Middle clicking anywhere on the desktop shows the currently open windows.
