Over the past several months I have been in contact with several therapist and other local resources to try and improve my situation.
In theory, once I am out of the shelter into a low income apartment I won't be in this situation ever again. Because it will just be me and my daughter, no relying on other people or their financial stability. Also I am on a August wait list for assistance to go back to school...with not just financial assistance but social as well. So I might be able to go to college and become a Geologist. I have to take a couple reading classes first, due to undiagnosed and ignored dyslexia even though I am 27 I only read at a 6th grade level. I have to get that up before I just jump into college courses.

Considering I didn't really know how to read until I was 13 at which point I taught myself, a 6 grade level isn't that bad.
Thank you Ala, I am a surviver...I will make it through this the same way I have made it threw the rest of my life. Plop myself in front of something with a screen and try and repress the memories.

Kals is questing again!Considering that the average American reads at a grade 7 level and the average Gaian types about 7 million internetz below you, you're doing pretty well, Ladi. ^.^
My father didn't learn to read until well into his adult life. I could read better than he could when I was 7. It would take him a year or more to read a novel. Now he can read a novel in two or three weeks and he can have an understandable conversation with me over MSN. He got his GED when I was in grade 9 or 10. He wrote a technical manual for the mill he used to work in. I am incredibly proud of him. Check sig for details!

Why do people use "Uncle Tom" as an insult when they haven't read the book and have no idea what the guy was like?

Boy, that pinball's addictive... ^_^
Ladi: I hope all will be well for you soon... sad
Omni: Well, my dictionary defines an "Uncle Tom" as a black man who is excessively obedient or servile, so I guess they consider him a sell-out, perhaps. *shrug*
