There have been a lot of new members recently, but it seems that most of them are inactive/lurking.

Even if we get one decent member out of the bunch, it's worth it. It's harder than it seems to recruit good ones, usually if they are decent they already have a place that they are dedicated to.
Besides, we do tend to be a little harsh on newcomers, so the fact that anyone sticks around is amazing.

I agree with that one. We have become harsh with the new comers. I didn't notice it when I first joined but I have now.
It does make sense that most good people have places to stay, heck I do it. I rarely venture forth into the wild.
