There really isn't a good description for the usage of Desu when not using in the sense of "Boku wa Geronimo desu."
It's sort of like a suffix for a sentence when talking politely to someone. Sort of like how Kenshin ends everything with "That it is or that it was."

I understand it now that I read the Wiki... it is a way of stating what something is in a polite manner. it's the subtle difference of people who are sure of what they are describing too. Like:
Example:
That's a mirror.
-To-
That is a mirror.

Oh no... It's a verb as well, in addition to a suffix for politeness. Me believes that all the times Kenshin in the dubs says "That it is" he really says Desu.
Desu == Is. "Sore wa ramen desu." That is Ramen.

O_o I have a Dark in my shirt Also true in context of how the Japanese language works. ^_^ Dark should leave Snazo's shirt before he reverts to normal size... my serum only lasts for an hour depending on species... and I'm not even sure WHAT he is...

@Lin I don't think he says desu... I watched a couple of episodes in Japanese and he says something else... I can't remember right now what it was
