They're doing it so that people switch over to a more stable and secure operating system, nothing more.

I've got Vista, and I've not had a single BSOD. I get the occasional program crash, but that's not Vista's fault. That's the fault of the developer of the program not doing things properly.

My only problems on my computer come from Norton. Which is gonna go a away very soon. For a different antivirus software.

That's only if you upgrade from a previous XP installation.

It invalidates your XP serial code, so you can't reinstall it if you don't like Vista.

An upgrade version of Windows (and the license that corresponds with it) can only be used to upgrade, not do a clean install. So unless you remove Vista and install an OS that's older then XP, you're not going to be able to use your upgrade product anyway. x3 Which, one would think, is common sense.
...It's usually easier just to *not* do official upgrades/downgrades. And then you throw in OEM licensing and it gets hellish.

Anyway, Vista wouldn't run on my computer, but that's just because I don't have the system requirements.
