I disagree with you Sanzo, I understand Yaoi to be like how wiki describes it; Quote: Yaoi (やおい)[nb 1] is a popular term for fictional media that focuses on homosexual male relationships, yet is generally created by and for females. Originally referring to a specific type of dōjinshi parody of mainstream anime and manga works, yaoi came to be used as a generic term for female-oriented manga, anime, novels and dōjinshi featuring homosexual male relationships.
And look at normal anime/manga, its all basically soft core porn. Like 90% of anime and mangas have big boobs or panty flashes or gropeing and stuff.

Laz, also keep in mind that in the Japanese version of Sailormoon, you could see the girls in all their glory... and I think they were all like 13-14 or something... Those Japs and their child pron... And I dunno about those wiki's unless they have citations are there cites?

from what I've seen yaoi is the more hardcore stuff, shonen-ai is the simple male/male relationship, that's how I've always understood it at least
edit: that's sort of it Large, yaoi can have plot too but it all depends on if there's graphic sex or not

ugh... I just got a message from a friend who's trying to put together something and I'm not sure I want to go... I haven't seen her in a while but when the whole thing with my grandma happened she didn't ever ask how I was doing even though she knew what was going on and called during the time I was really down... I'm not sure what to do

shōnen-ai is basically the same thing as Yaoi. Yaoi used to be more parodies of straight manga/anime but now its grown into a general term.
@ Arc: Yes it has cites. As for the whole nekked thing, yeah, Japanese people basically have no morals when it comes to sex and stuff, thats what happens when a country grows up with basically no religion.

Japanese had the Shinto religion and then Buddhism, get your facts straight Laz, and actually they have really strict laws about a lot of this stuff. We just get the perverted stuff because that's what people over here look for but overall Japan is actually pretty prudish.

Sorta. The religion they used to practise back in the day has basically now just turned into little customs that they do at dinner etc. Christianity basically doesn't exist there, some people are and do practise budhism(sp) but basically they dont really have a religion.
EDIT: @ Sanzo: I just meant they dont necessarilly find offensive some of the things people from other countries would. Obviously there is still a line of how much they will take.
I also realise the strict laws. I was reading somewhere some guy got hanged for pssessing child pr0n.
