I was definitely surprised by it... I don't know if it was good or bad.

I adored it, I usually don't like movies in Spanish... they have a tendency to be either stupid or insanely violent but this one was so beautifully made and the monsters were awesome and just yayness all around
ALANTIE! *huggle cling*

No worries, Atlie. I'm sure you'll do fine. I'm sending you positive vibes! heart EDIT: I don't know, Sanzo. It just seemed overly explicit to me in terms of the violence... I mean, all the fighting moved the plot along, but I felt like there was forced, gratuitous gore. I know nudity is common in foreign movies, but I've never seen gore like that before. I liked the story, but I don't know that Ofelia was a totally believable heroine. Most girls freak out over bugs the size of kittens...

@Steph well yeah the gore was a little... much I will admit that. I think the story was great though. I mean there was so much double meaning in the stuff she did and what was going on with her life. To be honest, I liked the story with her stepfather a lot more than I did with the little girl, I thought there was a lot more there, deeper you know?
@Alantie, you know of course you'll knock the socks off everyone at work, after all you are made of awesome ^_^

There definitely was a valid social message, and the stepdad was a total d**k. I liked some (actually most) of the fantasy story as well, I just thought that in the context, the gore was out of place, you know? Overall, I liked it enough to buy it.
