lazycommie 124-C lazycommie Surazal Dloc Yes you are possibly right Pancake, or everyone will just go nuts and America will sink even lower. If there were no guns at all and authorites made it hard for illegal guns to be bought created etc it would make things much better. But hen again Cannada has just about as many guns per population and their deaths from guns barely compares to the 30, 000 I dont even think its 1,000. Except that not once has gun control ever done anything but make the trends regarding violent crime get worse.  [Sourced from here and here] Believe me, I like to go shooting (really, really like to), but when you consider that the assault weapons ban was passed and signed in 1994 (with a sunset in 2004)... it just doesn't look good... Which makes me sad... Take a look over a larger period of time than just that period. Here's what you'll see. It was decreasing before the AWB at an even greater rate than it was during it, and went on it's merry way decreasing after it sunsetted. Also note that "assault weapons"(the term itself being a misnomer) are used in next to no crimes. You'll notice that the "violent crime rates" (which does not limit itself to gun related crimes) is a 30 period beginning in 1973. Prior to the AWB it shows no sign of decrease, let alone this supposed "even greater rate". And yes, the AWB is a misnomer, but it's far easier to refer to that way than it is by its actual name "Violent Crime Control and Law Enforcement Act of 1994"... Anyway, I know that you're not going to budge on this issue. I know I wish this wasn't an issue. And I know that it annoys the hell out of the rest of the guildies. So, I'm gonna pack it in for the night...
