Bass20XX Bah, I've never liked the parody movies. I rank them as highly as the hollywood remakes of japanese horror movies. talk2hand
xd ...Which I also love to watch on occasion... xd Part of the fun for me with parodies (since I'm a media sponge) is to identify as many of the original items as I can that they've touched on. mrgreen And admittedly, most spoofs are lousy. It's a guilty pleasure. smile (Airplane is, of course, one of the best, and the granddaddy of the genre.)

I'm just against the idea of them.
If the only idea for a movie you have is one that is a direct parody of another movie, then you need to get out of the business and find something you're more suited to doing. Like heavy lifting.

Oh, I dunno... they're mindless entertainment, and parodies are fun. And they've been around FOREVER. There's an off-Broadway show called "Forbidden Broadway" that's fantastic (a few years ago they riffed off of the Lion King's [and Disney's] taking-over of Broadway with "Circle of Mice" and "Can You Feel The Pain Tonight" [which was the actors complaining about how uncomfortable Julie Taymor's costumes are/were]); on one of their CDs they start spoofing Carol Channing's "Hello, Dolly" personae, and someone came in with, "Excuse me. Excuse me please."
"Who are *you*?"
"I'm the REAL Carol Channing!"
And it was. She went off riffing on some of the classic Hollywood and Broadway stars that SHE lampooned in her youth. (Marlene Deitrich, etc.) It was great.
And Mad Magazine's certainly been lampooning EVERYTHING since my MOM was a little girl; as a matter of fact, for a while her collection of Mad Magazines and mine were comingled for 40 years or so of Mads. smile
However... if you're going to parody, at least try to make it a good one. mrgreen

I think I've seen Airplane, and it was quite good (if it's the one I'm thinking of).
All of the new parody movies coming out are just crap though, they're all so blatantly obvious in their parodies. I don't mind light-hearted movies that do spoof a few other, bigger, movies in less-than-obvious ways. The ones that go out of their way to make it obvious to everyone what they're ripping off just pisses me off.
Perfect example is "Meet the Spartans".

I haven't actually seen that one yet. smile
Airplane is the one where all the passengers and pilots are coming down with food poisoning, and they have to find someone to fly the plane. Cue Ted Stryker, the former pilot with a drinking problem. (He can't find his mouth with the glass.) smile
The director of that movie was actually the executive producer or somesuch on Superhero Movie, and helped with a lot of the gags. smile

Doing pretty good, just relaxing after my ceramics class. I like that class, but most of the time is spent on my feet bent over whatever I'm working on at the time. As a result, I sometimes come home with a sore back. Anyways, how are you Yunie?

I like it Yunie. I never do holiday themed avis, their either cosplays or just something I feel like throwing together.
