I don't like the controls, Lin. Mostly because Apple's earbuds are notoriously bad.
Other than that, I do like their appearance, I'm even tempted to get one (has never owned a DAP) and solder a pair of buds onto the Apple cord.

That's my irk with the new Shuffle as well, Tsuj. Hah, I hardly even thought about soldering another kind of earphones with it (though, alack, that makes it very non-interchangeable IIRC).
Someone should make just the controller alone, and have the controller have a standard audio jack. *muses*
(On a side note, I've never had a problem with Apple's regular buds fitting in my ears, and I never minded the sound quality. But that's because, if I'm just listening, unless it's god-awful I don't complain.)

I have a strange feeling that someone is drawing up schematics for just such a thing right now, Tsuj (whether it's you or someone else). XD

It's super easy to pull apart the Apple earbuds and what comes off from the earbud end of that controller seems to just be a simple common ground, left, and right channel wire. So you should just have to get a 3.5mm jack, snip and solder...

So... call me stupid or something for even mentioning this but...
Even if you don't have a large capital for investment, wouldn't investing at this current time -- even if it's just in stable blue-chip companies -- be the best thing for everyone?
Edit: Hah! And I'm sure that standard audio jacks are very easy to find at one's nearest Radio Shack (and for fairly cheap). I wonder if it can be made to possess the same aesthetics though. Not that it's important, but I'm -- on occasion -- prone to vanity.

I was thinking that same thing, Lin. If I had money to invest, I definitely would. Even if the economy doesn't improve soon, it will eventually.

I usually don't associate 'coping' with 'all right', DP, but I think I understand what you mean. I hope that whatever you have to cope with right now will be cleared in the near future.
About the investment thing, I'm seriously considering siphoning off some of the stuff I'm putting into liquid savings (my savings account) into stocks or perhaps mutuals. Sadly, I don't think most brokerages will even look at me without a larger amount of capital (but I haven't studied finance protocol in such a long time that I probably don't quite remember the steps with which you obtain stocks and get into mutual funds).
