Honest John the talking fox sells him out (literally); first to a puppetmaster ("I've got no strings..."), and then to... well, I'm not really sure what he is, but he gathers up juvenile delinquents, turns them into donkeys, and sells them for laborers. Pinoc gets away and goes looking for Gepetto, who had gone looking for him and been swallowed by Monstro.
