I always thought that the connotations of 'gamey' are different for each person's tastes.

Well... I suppose if one LIKES slightly rancid and/or spoiled meat, or strong odors ("gamy" sometimes is used for guys who are in need of a shower, too)...

Well... you have to remember that the sharpness is key to some foodies, such as in cheeses. Perhaps he's meaning somewhat aged meat, where the, er, nature of the meat is more evident. *shrug*
EDIT: And "what's-his-name from Bizarre Foods" explains quite a bit, don't you think? rolleyes

Again, I think it's up to personal tastes, cuz whenever I hear gamy on like a food program they say it as a fairly good thing =/ Meh.
