aretoo had several sliced tomatoes, and fried green tomatoes, both freshly picked less than 3 hours ago, for lunch. ^_^

...aretoo supposes he probably shouldn't mention the chili con carne with beans he made in the crock pot the other day... cooked 'til the beef chunks were falling apart, and served with oven-toasted wheat bread with butter and garlic...

EDIT: @Waku: Yep, sliced about 1/4" thick, and dredged in a flour mixture (garlic powder, lemon pepper, ground black pepper, and salt), dropped into the cast iron skillet with canola oil heated to medium, and fried 'til browned

Fried green tomatoes makes me remember this delicious restaurant that used to be around called Agnes and Muriel's~ They had all country cooking (and retro 50's decor!) and some of the best fried green tomatoes I've ever had~~~~~
But their landlord sucked and refused to fix their maintenance problems and they were forced to relocate and business died soon after.... V. depressing.
