I forgot about day light savings and was absolutely not ready to be flung an hour into the future this morning. Now I'm so confused about when I am. I can take a guess at where I am. I've never been good with who I am. I just hope I'm not wrong about what I am.

That's how Walmart went. Went in, went through the interview. They then asked me to sit out in the waiting area, and they'd call me back for a second interview if they were interested. Second interview consisted of them asking the same questions as the first interview, and the job offer. The job offer was pending on the results of a background check and a drug test.

By the way, they called me back yesterday. My first day of work is Tuesday.

I had a really bizarre interview last week. I went in to the store and she (the manager) didn't bother to properly introduce herself or shake my hand. She leads me over to a nearby cafe (who I am sure wouldn't be impressed by people taking up tables and not buying anything) and doesn't bother to tell me who the other employee is who followed us over and why he is sitting in. Not that he actually sits in - he just hovers awkwardly around the table. The manager takes my portfolio sees that the first item is my library services diploma and immediately closes it again, seemingly realising that, yes, I am overqualified for the job.

Then they only ask me two questions which were "why did I leave my last retail job" and "what would I do when faced with an angry customer." The actual interview lasted all of two minutes and ends with her telling me to come in for a trial and throwing some catalogues at me. Before we part she takes a moment to whine about the fact that I have another job and that it will be an issue to work around - even though we had only discussed me working weekends and Thursday nights for her.

I later called and cancelled the trial. I don't want to work for people who are going to hire me despite knowing full well that I am pursuing a career elsewhere only to complain about it all the time and I really was not impressed by the way they conducted the "interview."
