Seriously, if you're at all interested in travelling or learning another language, it's really a great program. The exact type of experience varies depending on where you go. Ste-Anne is definitely one of the strictest, though; you sign a contract to speak nothing but French (this includes music and movies), and you are expelled on your third strike. BUT you will learn much more efficiently and it's truly the best way to learn.

C'est une bonne experience. biggrin J'ai consirere cette programme dans l'ecole secondaire, mais je ne sais pas que si j'ai le temps maintenant. sad Dans le futur...

It'd definitely be a good way to learn, though.

It's a lot of fun, too. I did three normal semesters at Ste-Anne (not through Explore), and only had one more level to go to get my certificate of bilingualism, so I applied and did Explore, since the 5 weeks (assuming you pass) count as a level. :3 Was great, the government paid for it all, and I met so many great people.

And there's always the future. There were people there of all ages, literally. From 17-70+. I think in the summer, there are younger people there, too.

That'd be a really cool experience. biggrin I was told about it in high school, but didn't have the time to do it... still don't. but I do get four months off in the summer now, so I will have to look into it. It'd be a really cool thing to do.

You'll swoop from incredible highs when you're just glad to be alive,
to those lows when you wish you were dead.

And just when you start thinking that you've accepted who you are,
that changes,
too.

Oooo, merci Taeryn! Impressionnant! Tu habite au Nouveau-Brunswick, oui? SJ? Ah, Université de Moncton de l'est sur la liste, mais pas Saint John.

It would be a good way to learn. J'aimerais devenir bilingue.

Maybe we could do it together sometime, eh Heather? razz

EDIT: Whoa, you have to sign a contract to speak only french? Even on the internet? I couldn't talk to Roland if that were the case. D:

Because who you are is not permanent.

Kerri: It depends on where you go. The thing about Ste-Anne is that it's isolated; there are places to go to be alone, but that's like....the woods, the beach, or an empty classroom. It's a really, really small university, and it's in the middle of nowhere. There are moniteurs/monitrices for every residence who ...monitor.

Places like Trois-Rivieres and Moncton are larger, so it's easy enough to get away from the school and go speak English if you want.

Also, I don't think *any* of the other programs forbid English as much as Ste-Anne. I know you weren't allowed on Facebook during the program, but you were allowed to send emails in English to people who were not participating. There is also a designated area for phone calls.

Huh... sounds pretty closed off from the rest of the world, but it'd still be pretty cool. Not like I have many people to stay in touch with anyway. xd

Heather: Indeed it would be. Maybe summer 2012 or something? And if I was there taking the program with you, then that's most of the important people right there. B)

Tae: Having such strict control on the language really is the best way to go about it. But I would miss my facebook, and skyping with Chris. Nova Scotia is gorgeous, though. Hrmm.
