I'm very happy I'm not really allergic to any foodstuffs. A guy I work with has a peanut allergy, and he's terrified to eat anywhere new, or try many new things. I would go crazy.

Nightnight, Yunie. *huggles*

Yeah, having a food allergy would suck. My dad has extreme food sensitivities, so I know how debilitating it can be. Heck, if I cook certain foods in my house it gives my dad indigestion, just from the smell. :s

That sucks. :s

I do get bothered sometimes by the smell of meat cooking, especially hamburger or pork. My old roommates used to cook cheap, greasy meat in the frying pan all the time, and it would leave me totally nauseated. sweatdrop

A good friend of mine is allergic to like EVERYTHING. I can't wear perfume of any sort but Bodicology if I know I'm going to be around him. He's allergic to spiders, peanuts, dust, dander, pollen... practically everything. He carries an all-around epipen with him everywhere...
Fortunately, I have no allergies but pollen, and that's usually only in spring and the very beginning of summer.

I'm allergic to penicillin, but I don't believe it's too severe. Haven't tested it out since I was a baby. I hardly ever take antibiotics unless I absolutely have to. The last time was for a horribly infected tooth. Before that...I don't remember.

Eeeewww. razz

I can't stand the taste of nutmeg, it makes me feel physically ill, but that's because of a bad experience at work. My boss was making Christmas meat pies, and left a pot full of raw meat and nutmeg mixed together right next to where i was working while he went and did something else, and the contrast just made me feel sick... now I feel sick when I eat or smell nutmeg.

I'm allergic to a medication called cefzil, which is for ear infections. It gave me hives. I used to get a lot of ear infections as a child, but my normal medicine wasn't that. My normal medicine was banana flavoured, and I loved it. x3 We just got Cefzil once because my regular doctor was unavailable, and we went to a walk-in clinic, I think. Could be wrong, it was a long time ago. Mostly all I remember about getting hives is being disappointed that they weren't shaped like hexagons, because I related it to beehives...

Amoxicillin is usually banana-flavoured. That's probably what you had as a kid.

All my friends had the banana medicine. ._. Not me.

It was Amoxcillin, I just asked. I never knew that. The more you know~

And that sucks, Tae. D: It was awesome. I actually liked getting sick just so I could have it, I loved it that much. Did you get ear infections and had a different medicine? Or just didn't get ear infections?

Cefzil had an elephant on the packaging, I think. But it was white and icky.

I'm not sure the name of it, but it was this gross salmon-coloured stuff that purported to be cherry-flavoured, but actually tasted revolting and bitter.

Oh yeah... Robutussin. I throw up when I have Robutussin. And my brother and dad are both allergic to Penicillin.
Also? I can't take any sort of pill that has fish oil in it without getting sick as a dog.... and Mucinex and Flonaise have no effect on me whatsoever (then again, what kind of a doctor proscribes those for a double-ear infection he doesn't think exists? stare Stupid Dr. Wise...)

Robitussin is not an antibiotic, you wouldn't use it to treat an infection.
PostPosted: Sun Sep 04, 2011 11:43 am
Well, yeah, everyone knows Robutussin is used for colds. I was saying Mucinex and Flonaise were the medicines given to me for me ear infections. Obviously. neutral

Don't get snippy with her just because you interjected something completely different into the conversation with absolutely zero segue. The onus is on you to make yourself clear, not on us to read your mind and magically know what you're going on about.

Us: antiobiotics, antibiotics, antibiotics.
You: "Oh yeah...Robitussin. Something something allergy to penicillin. Expectorant and corticosteroid."
PostPosted: Sun Sep 04, 2011 6:11 pm
I didn't get snippy. And I said robitussin because, first, we were talking about allergies, and then talking about allergies and antibiotics. Robitussin is a medicine often prescribed by doctors to fight flu bugs. Any flu is actually a broad-spectrum infection. If you have a fever, you almost always have an infection somewhere. It's medical logic. That's all I meant. Anything fighting an infection can be considered an antibiotic, though with many viruses only specific antibiotics can be used.
