Hmm...I don't own any real image editing things, so I don't really know about them. All I own is Microsoft Paint and Irfanview [which is free [x ]
Edit: Strike that Viral, if you read it. It's completely retarding the computer, so I'ma go.

Ooh, paint... Dx I can't stand paint anymore. It's so... difficult to work with. And everything ends up pixely.
Overall though, all I have is Photoshop Elements. More of a picture editor, and not as good as Pro, but it's all I could get my hands on. neutral

GIMP is free. =O
Dex, paint isn't taht bad... just make an image twice hte size you want. Then resize it down and it -should- look good.
