Well yes, but their ways of getting information by observing information you already have.

Induction would be assuming something, like "This dog is small... THEREFORE ALL DOGS MUST BE SMALL!"

Deduction is like Sherlock Holms. "I have seen a dog before, it had four legs, a wet nose, and often licked it self in the croch area. This creature does the same, and thus it is a dog."
