Sacromento? Phew... that's a little ways.
If you have the nerve, I say hitchhike. You'll be going through some mild deserty type places unless you stick to the coast. That would be my only worry for you.

That would be my only worry for you. It is far... but it will be fun. It's during January so... well... I expect cold... hmmm... perhaps it will be safer to bus since this will be my first backpack trip on my own (since I can't find people to go with me).

Hitch-hiking scares me eek
I always want to pick up hitch-hikers when I see them when we're out in Banff or in BC.... but it's illegal there because there's no shoulder.
Make sure you're hitch-hiking where it's legal, Lin.

Oh man, if you're going to be here, I might be able to get Yoko and Pahn togeather and go on a car trip to Portland and see Artoo. then you could eleminate the bus from here to there at least, and I'd get to see Artoo where I didn't get to last time.
O RLY, Sanzo? It would be awesome to meet you if you could find a way up here.

Why is it that when I search for a map of North America I get a map of the US instead?

One thing I'm worried about is not food/water/safety... but smelling. I don't really want to visit and the first things I hear are "you could really use a shower..."
It's sort of unavoidable when one backpacks but... still.
@Jim: If my trip still goes on (looking at my finances v.v) then if your idea works, that sounds like a great idea.

crying
I never get to see any of my online friends. Except that one time when we just happened to be fairly close to where my one friend lives in BC... that was just happenstance.
WHERE ARE ALL THE ALBERTANS!?
...nevermind, probably 95% of voting Albertans are people I don't want to meet.
Lin: The best thing a friend can do is let you use their shower XD

La Belle Isolde Why is it that when I search for a map of North America I get a map of the US instead? Because... the US is arrogant and thinks that its the only country in North America so only makes those kinds of maps? *shrug* and Jimmy, you do realize of course that if I ever meet you in real life major glompage will occur don't you?

I'm about a 2 hour drive south of Calgary.
Meaning probably a 14 hour drive (at best) from Portland. That's not too far right?
Then again I could hate you all in person and then be absolutely mean and cruel. Then it'd get awkward whee

Awwww... yeah... I'm afraid that I'll most likely be totally opposite from what I am like on Gaia (except for the obvious fact that I don't have a v****a).
