stressed ok, get this. He's sitting there doing SIMPLE Algebra...I mean, first grade simplicity stuff...in this case, taking two lines on a graph and trying to find out at what point the two lines intersect on a graph. Since he didn't have a graphing calculator (in which it said you should use) I showed him how to answer the question using simple math (Addition, subtraction, multiplication and division). I showed him how to take the equations from a y=mx+b equation into a -mx+y=b equation and subtracting the two to isolate the variables to find out what y and x is at the point of intersection. I did out
5 of the problems for him (I even had him do one right in front of me just to make sure he understood). I leave for 30 minutes expecting him to work on it (he didn't even leave the table) I come back, and he was STILL ON THE QUESTION I LEFT HIM AT...NOT JUST THAT, BUT HE HADN'T EVEN STARTED IT!!! To top that off, the question was ALREADY set up in -mx+y=b form, and all he had done was copy the question onto the paper!
