I have no problem with studying the history of 20th century Western art music. But studying the theory of 20th century music Western art music is so boring. And these questions have so pointless: Useless Question In the first movement of George Perle's String Quartet No. 5, Tempo I is Half Note equals 96. In order to get to Tempo II, Perle specifies that the old triplet eighth-note be equal to the new sixteenth-note. What is the tempo of the quarter-note in Tempo II? Show your work. Music history story problems???

Hey Stir! Hey Prinny! biggrin And... well... Music theory homework never used to be boring... I used to do compositions. Actually, I have a link to my latest composition! Lemme try to find it. Aretoo-san, I like logic problems too because I'm a bit of a math geek. I suppose that's one reason I find these problems easy. Oh! Here's the next bad problem... Another Bad Problem In the third movement, Tempo II is quarter note equals 96. In order to get back to Tempo I, Perle specifies that the old dotted half-note be equal to the new half note tied to an eighth. What is the tempo of the quarter-note in Tempo I? Show your work.
