Viral C a bit exaggerated saying ALL straights hate gays confused It is... but it's his personal experience. And the scary thing is there's still many out there that do hate people just because of sexual orientation or other small frivolities. Not saying I agree with the statement that "all straights hate gays," but in a world where straight people have privilege it can seem that way. Edit: Hi aretoo!

God, that's depressing. The letter I mean. No offense meant to those of you from the US, but I'm so ******** glad I live in Canada. Our politicians aren't much better, but our situation, for the time being, definitely is. gonk

Viral C yeah but .....its going to be hard for him to make friends with straights now Allies will understand; many people who are straight may be offended... ...but as with racism and any other -isms, if one doesn't do anything about the hate - even if one isn't propagating the hate - it's the same as being -ist. After all... one can't be a passive anti-ist...

I don't care about sexual orientation. My two best friends are both bi. Yes, it means some people do hate them (and me, for associating with them), but there's not a lot I can do about that.
And it is stupid to make it an issue. Like making race an issue. But people do it.

Larry Kramer is an activist with a capital A... and has been for more years than I think ANY of us (myself included) have been alive... and I believe he was one of the founding members of Act Up, which is known for, ah, very pointed demonstrations. ^_^ ...I don't think he's particularly worried about smoothing things out... smile
