As long same-sex couples are treated as sub-human by those in charge, sexuality is a big issue.

In other words, those in charge need to pull their head out of their a**.

The thing is people in power (in this case political power), in my opinion, will go with the majoritarian view. If the consensus is that everyone hates queer culture, then they will hate it too.

Alas, I don't see that happening 'til the current crop of politicos has drifted off to eternal slumber... sad

Yeah, pretty much. They want to stay in office. So they will agree with the majority in order to stay popular. That is the sad truth of it all.

Well...look at how much trouble and controvery was stirred up by the racial slurs used by Don Imus.

And then look at the s**t the Phelps family says nearly every day, and how it doesn't even make the news. neutral

It's not just the government, really. It's still acceptable to be a bigot because of religion, so nothing's going to change until people start getting in trouble for being abusively anti-gay.

I kinda want to be president just to get the job done! i don't care what everyone thinks of me. i don't care if i'm the most hated president there is! this country needs help! and if somebody wants me dead then fine!

It'll be hard, considering the president doesn't have all the power. It would take a lot of coercion and persuasion to win the two other branches over.

The fact that our PM doesn't have much power is the only reason same-sex marriage and abortion are still legal here. sweatdrop I shudder to think what would happen if Harper had a majority government.

True. And since the people in charge won't do that, then it probably won't happen, and people will still be abusively anti-gay.
Hehe...there is nothing in my religion that says there is anything wrong with being gay.
@ Viral---I can never be president. *sniffle* xp

Heh... On the other hand, a law was just signed in in Kansas targeting almost specifically the Phelps family, to stop them from picketing funerals... ^_^

I was born in Turkey, due to my father being in the airforce. Therefore, since I was not born on American soil, I am not a natural born citizen, and cannot be president.

I'm actually very amused by that, aretoo.

Hey! Not to take away from the queer discussion, but how do you feel about resolution independence, Aretoo?

Like... y'know... modern computers - rather than operating from a strictly pixel point of view - operated more on points and actual absolute measurements (like inches, centimeters, etc.)?

Edit: Don't worry; I can't be president either...

@ aretoo: Yay Kansas! I'm not a violent person, but Phelps and his wife make me want to stab something. Preferably one of them. =/ His wife was on Tyra Banks' show the other day, generally being a hateful b***h. Makes me ill.

@ Pickle: Yeah, my religion is the same way. x3
