Whats this? ::
“Thank you very much! I will see you next month! Have a safe trip!” Called Faust; waving after his regular delivery man. He smiled and looked down at the wooden crates which had been dropped off, all filled with alcoholic beverages for the bar. The young innkeeper owned a small establishment, which consisted off a few guest rooms, a restaurant, a bar area and of cause his home which was hidden away in the basement. Business was not booming however he earned enough to get by and live a comfortable life. The thing he liked about it the most was the fact he was always on his toes doing something. He was a hard working man and as such he always felt better when he thought he was achieving something, be it something as simple as making a dirty floor shine.
He dragged the crates into the bar area, whipping his brow before he began to sort through the vast variations of bottled drinks he had ordered, placing them carefully up on the shelves in their right places.“Let’s see what we have here... Wine.... Gin.... Rum.... Grouse.... Champagne....” He listed out loud before he picked up a rather strange looking bottle giving it a questionable look. “What do we have here? I do not remember ordering you...” He mumbled to himself inspecting the item in greater detail. It did not have a label and there certainly did not appear to be any kind of liquid beverage inside. There must have been some mistake at the suppliers. He cocked his head to the side not really knowing what to do. The delivery man was already too far away for him to return it.
He ran his finger up the smooth glass slightly mesmerised, it was not like anything he had ever seen before. How could something as simple as a bottle look so beautiful? It must have contained something very special and unique. He did not know why the item had caught his attention in such a dramatic way however for some reason he did not want to throw it away. Something inside of him was telling him not to. How bizarre indeed...
As he stared into the orangey container he heard someone open the door and approach the desk. He smiled and went over with the bottle still in hand. “Hello and welcome, how can I be of service?” He asked with a warm and friendly expression painted across his lips. He reached for the guest book putting the bottle in the cabinet under the desk without thinking, so he had his hand free to retrieve the documentation he required. He continued talking to the women at the front and when her request was dealt with he slipped the book back in the cabinet next to the bottle and headed back to continue his bottle sorting.
He figured there was nothing he could do with the bottle right now, especially when he had so much work to do. The best thing for it was to leave it there for the time being and return it to the company when the delivery man came back with his next order. After all he did not know the value of contents of the bottle so he did not want to throw it away in case it was something special.
... He had no idea how ‘special’ it really was.
