No cat could say Barkfang didn't fight with determination and courage. Shadowstar honored that in her Warrior. For that reason, she faces off against the shecat so both of them can continue to grow.

That included starting off the battle with a swift right flank attack.

Barkfang felt guilty, yes she had fought valliantly and earned a blessing from Forestclan, as well as some more scars, but she had been forced to flee from each fight she'd initiated, she was beside herself. Yes she was more skilled with plants and such, her mother, now long dead, had been apprenticed to a medcat before flunking out and being relegated to a mere warrior, bitter the shecat was, taught her lone surviving kit the worst ways to use the healing skills she'd learned but Barkfang wanted to be stronger when she needed to be, she'd failed when it counted and it was a bitter, bile tasting feeling in the back of her throat, so when Shadowsong became Shadowstar, mostly due to her strength, she wanted to practice her skills against the best.

She grunted when she was hit but she swung back with a blow to the face, claws safely tucked away of course... she wasn't about to actually hurt her new clanleader ........

Shadowstar closed her eyes as the paw hit her face. Backing herself up she shook her head, blinking a moment. Offering a suggestion to go a little to the left but otherwise very good hit!

Encouraging the other cat honestly, Shadowstar took a little to the left before leaping back at Barkfang.

Barkfang nods, then falls back with Shadowstar's attack. Taking her leader's advice she aimed again for the face, moving a little to the left as suggested.

Shadowsong praised the other cat, it wasn't the power of this hit but the placement and skill. Pulling back enough to demonstrate paw guarding.

Barkfang hates not being that good at fighting. She takes her leader's advice seriously before going for shadowstar's shoulder

Oh that one clipped her blade well, Shadowstar walked it off funny for a few moments. What Barkfang didn't have in power, thus far, she had in precision. She tells the other cat that, praising her precise strike.

For her part, she moves to pop a back paw

While not exactly revelling in the praise, she takes it to heart and, even when forced to stumble a little, shot back with a blow to Shadowstar's rump.

Shadowstar hops forward one length and took a wide curve back to get to Barkfang's other side rib section

Barkfang gasps at the hit.... "HEY!" she snapped rounding on her leader with a blow to the side of her head

Very quick turn around there, Barkfang. Just one problem with not grounding yourself first that can lead to being unbalanced and unguarded for an attack like this one, strike!

Barkfang rolled in the dirt as shadowstar caught her off balance, she was getting angry now as she again, went for the side of her leader's head, only barely remembering to retract her claws so it was a soft pawed blow

Oof, yeah she felt that one. There was no need to tell Barkfang she hit that one perfectly, the other's paw had to be feeling the sting as she was seeing Direstars. This was going to mess with her aim, by a lot but Shadowstar lashed out herself going for the inner arm opposite of the one that just clocked her.

And barkfang was down, she stayed where she fell after shadowstar's last blow made her fall. "You win" she ceded, bitter about it, even though she knew she'd done well
