So, I was browsing google and stumbled across a chandelier made of gummy bears and thought I'd share it with you guys.

I read that this chandelier can stay fresh up to two years after being made...and that's pretty crazy imo.
I had no idea that it was even possible to make something like that.

So, discuss:

I'm sure the edible rating goes down with the collection of dust and insects that die inside of there. Also, it looks groovy.

I remember making a jello and candy representation of a cell, but it kind of melted and wasn't so delicious afterwards.

Well, what doesn't kill ya makes ya stronger...so, I guess you could still eat it...?
Ah well, yeah I'd have to agree - it does indeed look groovy cool

Would make for some cool acid trip-70s style decor 3nodding

Heh when I did a representation of a cell, I used styrofoam and like beads...cause it seemed easier. xp

..Man I miss school projects lol

Hrmmm... Edible Art...

I think the only examples I can give are the things I do to prepare and present food. It's often overlooked sometimes, since the main attraction to most food eaters is the taste, but there is a subtle art to presenting food to make it look beautiful and attractive to eat.

Unfortunately, my extent of food preparation is making bento boxes and stuffing them with food shaped like rabbits or stars or flowers or something. I can also do some food molding, but only with things that can be easily molded like cake, meringue, and marzipan.

Ideally, I want to learn how to make flowers out of pulled sugar or royal icing.

Ohhh that would be nifty...
Those flowers are almost too purdy to eat lol

Heehee... Generally people don't really eat them. They'll taste like hard candy, yes, but because it's sugar it'll last a while.

Personally I would've gone with royal icing flowers rather than pulled sugar; the flowers would look less like plastic.

.... eek
Ouch!
I really don't think things like that should be made...
Food that you're not supposed to eat, I mean come on. What is food if you can't eat it? Isn't it what it's for?
Make a Jelly that's not edible that lasts through the elements or conditions and tell others it's not food or even food art but something similar.

I imagine sitting under that chandelier in a restaurant and then having a gummi bear come flying off and land in my soup.
"Waiter...what is this bear doing in my soup?"
    "The backstroke, madam~"

My mom knows how to make Gum Paste Flowers! She took a class with this famous cake decorator Nicholas Lodge

With talent and practice they come out incredible. I have to eventually learn myself.

When I lived with culinary students, I remember them all having to make those kinds of flowers. It was interesting to watch.

That's awesome! Oh, know a fun trick you can do with a gummi bear? Get an old water bottle, or a clear glass of water and drop a gummi bear in it. Then wait. As days go by, the gummi bear will grow massive just like those growing toys that you drop in water. The really funny thing is, the color in the gummi bear stays in pretty much the same place, but the gummi stuff expands, so it lets you watch the chewy candy's progress from tiny to huge xd
