Danni is a character I developed in the 5 Schools of Magic Roleplaying Guild, and is my precious baby. Eylios, who's spent more than a few hours helping me make Danni what she is today, dared me to throw my baby to the wolves.

And, because I love nothing more than causing Danni personal torment, I agreed. And because, really, I want to watch any flaws in her profile be torn apart.

So please, feel free to read, dissect, and be ruthlessly honest. I know the history is more than a little lengthy, but it had to be updated. She's been around for a couple years, after all.

Mitsuki10191
Username: Mitsuki10191

Character name: Isadora Danni Rinaldi (Goes only by Danni)

Race: Gray Magic Sorceress

Gender: Female

Age: 15

Occupation: 9th Grade Student

Personality: A tomboy by choice, Danni Rinaldi sneers at anything pink or frilly. Love starved and a social outcast, Danni's self-esteem leaves much to be desired, though she masks hurt with biting sarcasm and practiced indifference. Those she trusts, she does so explicitly, with no doubts, no hesitancy. There are few that have earned that trust, however, and to the rest of the world she shows a carefully cultivated facade of nothing but disinterest and slight annoyance.

History: The disowned youngest child of the mighty Rinaldi family, masters of white magic, Danni spent the first four years of her life as the apple of her father's eye. This, however, was before she was marked a black magic sorceress on her fourth birthday. This automatically marked her as an outcast and, in outrage of having borne such a creature, her mother tried to strangle her amidst the rest of the family. This murder attempt failed, and Danni spent the rest of her days locked away in the basement of the Rinaldi house, refused even the company of her older siblings.

It was this loneliness that led her into the waiting hands of the Ancients, a group of seven powerful gray magic dieties who sought to claim control of Hell and all it's Realms from Satan. The Ancients believed, quite rightly, that the outcast Rinaldi was the answer to a Prophecy, that she would be the to be molded into the warrior who would help them take Satan's throne.

For ten years, the Ancients trained young Danni, teaching her the ways of black magic, since any white magic she had was locked deep inside her, unwilling to show itself. When she displayed immense talent, they sent her into Hell as a double agent.

It was here, in these hellish Realms, that she earned the name Shadow Runner, Satan's favored plaything and the best Reaper in the business. It was in these Realms that Danni's heart hardened, that anything that remained of her childish innocence. Partnered with the demon Arzol, she gained a reputation, and more, was respected and feared. No one was ever stupid enough to underestimate her because of her age.

In her fourteenth year, Danni's parents sent her, as well as her siblings, away to Mystic Fountain high school, more to get her away from the family's private island than anything else. At Mystic Fountain, Danni befriended the school cook, escaping the hell of the dorms by moving into a room in Cook's shack. It was at his side that she learned simple joys like cooking a meal, telling stories beside a roaring fire, all the things she'd never had a chance to do before.

It was also at Mystic Fountain that her allegiance to the Ancients was discovered by Satan. Her name immediately went to the top of his hit list, infuriated that the 'hero of prophecy' had been living in his stomping grounds for years.
To recap this part of her past, it can be said that Danni was defeated, brought back to life by a healer, but from that time on, her sanity began to deteriorate. Her sleep was haunted by visions of her demise, until this and other factors led her to take her own life.

But the Ancients couldn't let their precious warrior die. Instead they whisked away her soul, trying, in their own way, to heal it until she was well enough to stand living once more. In its own twisted way, the plan worked, and when Danni came back, it was with a renewed determination to face her destiny, and her fate. And she would be helped by those she'd come to love since arriving at the school.

In a battle that would be written about by those who knew of it, Shadow Runner faced down Satan and his minions in the Valley of Death, in the end casting Satan from his throne so that the Ancients could take over.

Now, though the most major battle of her life is over, she faces a new problem: everyone at Mystic Fountain believes her to still be dead. Because of this, she resides in the school's bell tower, ringing the bells every morning. Her only roomate is Poopsie, the quareen, a gift (or punishment) from her headmaster. Now she continues to try and live her life, dealing with her responsibilities in Hell as well as the everyday problems that go along with being a teenage outcast.

Powers: Danni walks the line between white and black magic these days, utilizing gray magic in any way she sees fit.

Strengths: Danni never believed in relying only on magic. Because of it, training has made her a force to be reckoned with when it comes to self defense. And when it comes to tracking down someone, especially a rogue demon, she's your girl. Since tracking usually includes crossing borders, she's learned several languages as well, which comes in handy now and then.

Weaknesses: Danni has very low self-esteem, despite her title, and can be more than a little dense. Small children terrify her.

Appearance: User Image

Extra: Anyone who calls her any form of 'Isadora' should be prepared to face the consequences.

If Isadora is her first name, why doesn't she like being called that?
PostPosted: Sun Sep 19, 2010 6:19 pm

To her 'Isadora' encompasses everything her parents expected her to be: The proper, well rounded socialite who'd someday turn into a proper, well rounded wife. She wanted no part in that, so naturally she chose the name that her mother considered entirely unsuitable.

What an odd...hm...
I think Isadora is a pretty, name, on my part.
if I was in her position, just because [my name] is my name for that reason, I'd still like to be called by [my name].
PostPosted: Sun Sep 19, 2010 6:25 pm

Why would have been given that as a middle name if it was "entirely unsuitable"? I fail to see why any "unsuitable" name would ever be used. They should both be suitable.

Really, she should go be "Izzy" or something. That would be unsuitable.

Well, it's not in the profile, but before the 'mother tried to stangle her' incident, they used to call her Izzy.

How to explain this...The switch to prefering being called Danni came about when her parents began saying her name as though it were some foul word that had to be spat out. 'Isadora' loses its charm when it sounds like an oath. If that made any sense...
PostPosted: Sun Sep 19, 2010 6:32 pm

Well, when I said 'her parents' found it unsuitable, I should've said 'her mother'. Eleanor is not somebody I like at all, even though I made her. She's all about proper. Her father, when he still favored her, gave her the middle name, should the formal 'Isadora' not fit her personality. But then, Sylvester Rinaldi was a lot better than his wife.

If I were Danni, I'd be PROUD to have a makeshift cuss word modeled on my name.
PostPosted: Sun Sep 19, 2010 6:39 pm

Heh, I bet. But Danni didn't much care for it. Keep in mind she wasn't even old enough to go to school yet.

=Okay, everyone, listen up - I only get to be this mean because Mitsuki10191 is a close friend of mine. Please do not emulate my behavior unless, like me, you are a good friend of whomever you're ragging on.

WHAT. THE. ******** would really, really,REALLY consider - no, I BEG you to take the Mary Sue test because honestly? Danni SCREAMS it.

She has the abusive past, the status quo against her, AND she's ridiculously overpowered. First of all, what the hell were the Ancients smoking when they picked a four year old girl to do what they couldn't?

Second, how the ******** is Danni able to take on and bust a cap in Statn's a** when seven Ancients couldn't even do that? SHE DOES IT IN TEN YEARS, no less! And then the Ancients waltz in a proclaim the place for their own!

What.

The.

Hell.

Seriously.

You REALLY need to rethink this, because this is just a ridiculous, cookie cutter character. (I still can't believe the most major battle of her life was when she was 14, c'mon! That's worse than Ichigo Kurosaki!)

First of all, in the setting, MFHS: What significance does the black magic hold that makes it so awful? Both Alec and Ialo have said that darkness is not evil, it's an essential part of the world.

Why are the Ancients unable to defeat Satan themselves? Why can't God (if there is one in the story, there are MANY gods in the roleplay) do it himself? Hell, why did n't the Ancients ask the other gods? Why did they go to Danni Rinaldi? What compelled them to take a prophecy so seriously that they would pick up a four year old girl who just experienced one of the scariest and mosttragic experience in her life, and tell her that she has to become a warrior, go the Hell (literally), defeat Satan, or else??

HOLES, MISTUKI. YOU HAS DEM.

Her past is confusing, there's so much going on. And she's only 15?

That's what I'm saying, yo.

This is why I love you, dear. And this is exactly why I put my dear Danni up here.

I know she's got the Mary Sue thing going. It's something we've 'discussed' before, and I plan on fixing it, as much as I can. Have to say, it seemed to make perfect sense in my head at the time.

You, dearie, get to see Danni learn a little bit of humility. Character development should keep me busy on this particular child of mine.

Humility is not going to make up for this. Character development doesn't always fix these problems.

The problem is, Danni is too powerful, in too short a period in time. Having her develop humility will NOT fix that - only rewriting her history can, in my opinion.
