Beloved Mage

Well, I feel I have too many human characters, and I only have one character (still alive) that is not a full-blooded human, so I decided to start from that point and work my way to full-blooded species that aren't human. Thing is I like my characters to be able to age normally. XD

So, here's the character I created (using a format I've been using for my RPC profile file on word since forever.):

Name: Elias Cardinal
Nickname: Ellie(only his mother can call him this)
Appearance: User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Age: 20
Race: Half-elf
Occupation: Thrillseeker

Powers and Abilities:

Elias has the ability to use magic, but he was never got very good at using it, so the most he can do is illumination, minor healing (which is next to useless as bruises and cuts are nothing to really worry about), and a very weak spell he learned on his own, which he dubbed "Tailwind."

He also posesses some of the speed and agility og his elven heritage. He's able to keep up with most horses, when he's running at full speed.

As for combat skills, Elias knows how to use a knife or dagger in battle. He also does knife throwing for fun, and should he have a decent shot, he will finish off a person by throwing his knife or dagger at them; sometimes with the aid of his signature skill "Tailwind," which pushes the knife forward as it flies through the air.

Weaknesses and Limitations:

His weakness in the magic department comes from the human blood from his father. While humans have the capacity to use magic (they have to awaken it), his father was one of many that was not able to use magic.

Elias's body is stronger than an elf's, but weake than a human's. He has more mass than elves, so he's not as fast as they are. So, he's not THE fastest person there is. As for his ability to use magic, while he is unable to use magic beyond healing, illumination, and his signature skill, he has a few tricks up his sleeve. It's just that using these tricks greatly exhausts him.

Personality:

Elias, as his occupation would suggest, thrives on adrenaline. Often times, this involves him trespassing on forbidden grounds or attemmpting to steal something very precious. Usually whatever he steals, he returns most of it, keepng a small trophy so that he could call the deed a heist. Basically, the best thing to convince Elias to do something is involve heights or freefalling, because he loves going on very tall buildings and freefalls.

He's known to be very cocky and rude. He's generally nicer to women, but he's just doing it so that his mother won't scold him. Elias's mother is really the only person who can control him. He's a true mama's boy, and has no choice, except to be embarassed in front of others when he is with her. He does not want to see her angry; she is not abusive, but she is just plain scary. So, he learned to just keep his objections quiet and reply with, "Yes, Mama" to everything she tells him.

History:
Elias is the son of a roving bandit and a Espani elf. The story behind their meeting is unbelievable by some. Rayen met Luis Cardinal when her clan was crossing the mountains. Luis's was from the country that extended south into the Stivale Ocean known as Italic and he was just a boy when he met Rayen, who at the time was a young woman. After her clan was separated, Luis's "family" took her with them. Rayen does not like being asked to recall the first three years of her time with the bandits, but eventually she became part of the group. Being the only woman of the group, and very beautiful at that, she often was the bait for their victims to take.

For the next ten years, the young Luis and Rayen came to know each other very well. As Luis entered adulthood, he began to realize he saw Rayen as more than a good friend. Rayen and Luis appeared to be the same age, which made the whole situation much less awkward. The bandits, seeing their youngest member falling for Rayen, knew that eventually that he would settle down; their prediction was wrong. Five years after they became a couple, Rayen learned she was pregnant with Luis's child. Despite elves and humans being on good terms, a child between the two was an utter tabboo. Luis wanted to protect his love, so he told her to run to the closest town possible and have their child. At first Rayen was reluctant, but being older than Luis, she also knew this was the best path to take.

And so, Elias was born without a father at his side. However, not a soul knows that he is a half-elf, thanks to his father keeping himself away from their family. Elias's mother taught Elias everything she learned with the bandits and the old teachings of her clan. Rayen made sure than her son did not grow up to hate his father either, telling him stories over and over. However, to keep him from looking for his father when he came of age, she told him that his father died of an illness shortly after his birth. That was not enough, for although Elias was convinced, she had to steer him away from his father. If he realized he was a half-elf, she thought, he would be scorn by both humans and elves.

So, Elias now travels around, taking information his mother, who now works as an information broker--buying and selling, finds for him. He is unaware as to why she follows him, but he takes any adventure he can get.

There's quite a bit to say.

I like the concept, and I'm totally jealous of those boots. I need a pair. |||OTL

Couple things: I get that you're trying to make him so he isn't overpowerful, and his powers seem pretty good right now, but be careful it isn't boring. When writing, well-balanced powers can quickly turn into boring ones. Again, in the description he seems good, but the danger is there.

Also, I like that you took into account the blend between elves and humans, giving and taking so he's not good at everything.

"Thrillseeker" seems like a good occupation. 8D

History's a bit confusing. I don't quite get what you're trying to convey, perhaps because of the language you use. It loses the reader in parts.

I'm sure I forgot something, but if I did I'm sure I'll remember it later. xD Overall he's a pretty good character, and he seems like fun. The biggest concern is definitely getting bored with him quickly (oh my god it sucks. Trust me. You think they're so cool and then they're like "ha ha! Fooled ya!"). But yeah, ya did good, kid. /Patpat

xD Thanks. Elias hasn't lost my interest yet. It's moreso hard to find an RP that he'd work well in. So, I think I may end up having to make an RP every time I wanna use him.

I think my histories tend to confuse people. Basically, in a nutshell:

Elias's mother was taken as a prisoner of these bandits. One of them was only a boy when he met her (she was about 60, which is still young for an elf--she looked about 20). When Elias's father grew up, she still looked 20, so they started falling for each other. She gets pregnant, and to protect both her husband and son, she leaves and gives birth to Elias. She raises him alone and raises him as a full-blooded elf.

Elias is now all grown up, but she does not want him to learn he is a half-elf, so she keeps him away from where his father may be with errands that he could do as her employee.
