Most of us remember the Tail as Old as Time: a frightening beast earns the love of a beautiful girl and is turned into a handsome prince. Well what if the story was backwards? What if instead the beast was a poor woman who earned the love of a beautiful prince? Well, we'll soon find out ^^

Bio: When Sophie was young she had angered an old woman by saying she was mean and ugly. The woman had been a witch and put a curse on the girl that turned her into a horrible beast. She told her that the only way she could change back was if someone loved her for who she really was instead of for her looks. The problem is, if Sophie falls in love with someone, she has a month to make them love her or she will die.

Bio: Victor grew up rich and fortunate, but never was spoiled or was much of a brat. He is always willing to help others, and often ignores his duties to read, study, draw, or contribute to the community. Prince Victor often goes into town to escape his fiance. Too concerned with social status, looks, and apperances, he finds her not very enjoyable, but is nice to her to please his parents. Victor wants someone for their brains and good nature, rather than their social status. He has heard rumors of the beast that lives in the town, but hardly regards them as truth.

Bio: Margaret was raised to believe that she was better than everyone else. Her mother told her that because she was beautiful and rich she could have anything she wanted as long as her behavior reflected favorably on her family. When she grew older she decided she wanted to marry the prince and so her Aunt, with her infinite connections, set up a meeting between their two parents and at the age of fifteen the two were betrothed to each other and have been attending courtly functions as a couple ever since, but have yet to actually marry.

It was a chilly early winter morning. It was quiet in the town, but that couldn't be said in the nearby forest. A large wolf/bear like beast ran through the trees after a frightened buck. It screamed when she jumped on it but it was silenced with a loud snap of the neck. The beast dug into her kill and looked around as she ate, making sure no humans were around.

Darian watched from the trees silently as the beast fed, grinning as he slowly reached for a poisoned throwing knife, hoping to poison the beast and then track down its dieting corpse. "ive got you now monster...." He tossed the blade, narrowly missing the beast as the branch he was on began to snap, having to move quickly to avoid falling.

((take that for a first post!! only just started and im already throwing things at you.))

The young prince had awoken with a start--it had been only a nightmare. He sighed, sinking back into his bed and looking up at the cieling. It was his birthday today; no doubt that his parents would attempt to make it extravagant, his fiance Margaret only encouraging the behavior. He sighed, rolling over and looking out the window. The beautiful morning light streamed in his room. He smiled and sat up. Quickly dressing in his warm pesent disquise, Victor grabbed his favorite book. It was a fairy tale novel that he had read so much it was nearly falling apart. He opened his window, grabbing the book's spine between his teeth. He reached, grabbing to the vine rack climbing up the side of the palace. Carefully, Victor made his way down to the snowy bottom and snuck over the castle wall, making his way into town and burrying his nose into his book.

Margaret waited in the dining room, staring at her breakfast that was slowly getting cold. She knew that Victor would not meet her for breakfast and yet she would always wait for him, just in case he did. She sighed after a moment and resigned herself to eating alone. For a few years now, since she and her family had moved into the palace with Victor's, she had been trying to get the man to act more like a Prince but he seemed so completely resistant to it that she found it unfair. She was perfect princess material and he... well, she busied herself with some jam to stop her thoughts from their current tracks. She had her prince, and he would, eventually, have to act like one. She could wait until then. She stuck her nose up in the air as she continued eating. She had to hurry if she were to help Victor's mother make sure the party was put together correctly.

The beast looked towards the hunter and roared at him. She threw the half eaten dear carcass at the tree he was in as a distraction before she ran from him towards her home.

"Damn it!" He jumped from the tree, the carcass narrowly missing him before he hit the ground running. His eyes never left the beast as he took chase, not wanting to lose it again like before, every time he managed to get close to the beast, something always happened to help the thing get away, either the thing was lucky, or he was getting sloppy.

The prince looked up as it began to snow. He grinned, holding out his tongue and catching a snowflake on it. Perhaps today would not be so bad. He weaved through the trees in the direction of the town when he suddenly heard a roar. Was it a bear perhaps? He then heard something crack against a tree. What was going on? Victor decided he best move quickly to avoid what ever it was. He began to jog down the path.
