Five years ago was when it all began. Five years ago, there was a meteor shower. Stray fragments diverted and fell towards Earth. Many people have said that they saw these pieces of rock fall from the sky, all from around the world. With witnesses to the event, people eventually started searching for these pieces of the meteorites. What they found were small crystals, all a different color. They soon figured out that these crystals were special, embedding themselves in whoever finds it and filling them with powers. From that day of discovery, the world has never been the same. Destruction and chaos soon followed as those filled with greed and malicious intent used these newly acquired powers for themselves. If you found these crystals, what would you do with them?

6. Limit is 2 crystals at the start
7. No overpowered abilities! I'm excluding powers that manipulate space, time, reality. Powers that I'll accept can range from elementals to physical enhancements.
8. I'd prefer to have a variety of different powers from people so I encourage that no more than 2-3 people have the same powers.
9. If planning to steal/take a crystal from someone, you must get consent from them. Taking a crystal from another could lead to death of the character.

Bio: Skye and her older brother found their crystals four years ago. Hers was a light blue color while his was a bright yellow, both embedded into their arms. They hid it from their parents and everyone else, always covering up their arms with long sleeve shirts or jackets. They promised to only use it when they were in danger. Two years ago, a robber broke into their house, killing her parents with the same powers that they had. He went after them next, trying to kill them. Her brother protected her, badly wounding the robber, but received the same wounds. The robber fled and her brother pulled out his crystal, giving it to Skye, knowing that he wouldn't survive. She put it close to her heart and there it was embedded. She hated people that abused their powers and hated that her brother had to die for her.
Crystal Effects: Ice manipulation (moisture from the air or any other water source) and lightning manipulation (must absorb energy first from somewhere before using)

Bio: It was just last year that Adrian found his crystals. One a deep gray color, and the other blood red. He was having a beach party with some friends when he found them hidden in the sand. They warned him not to mess with him, but he didn't listen, though he wishes he did not. As soon as he did they seemed to melt into him, the red one embedding itself in his chest just over his heart, and the gray one in his right shoulder. His body changed after that to his friends' horror. No one looked at him the same way after that and wishes he could just get rid of his crystals.
Crystal Effects: Mutation of wings and horns; manipulation of blood (can use his own or that of others as a weapon).

Bio: She found her first crystal, a light pink one, two years ago, and it settled into her right arm. After that, she started looking for more, fleeing her home in search of adventure. She fell in love with an older, married woman who also had a crystal, this one deep green, and one day the woman's husband shot her and the woman gave her crystal to Shane just before she died. The crystal embedded itself just above her clavicle.
Crystal Effects: Her first crystal grows slowly and can be shaped and used either as a melee weapon, or it can be "fired" as if from a gun; the second allows her to feel the emotions of other people as long as she is close to them, or has an intense connection with them.

Bio: When he was growing up, he was subjected to a number of cruelties that culminated in his abandonment at age six. He was taken in by a few homeless kids and taught to take care of himself and family. Eventually he was taken away from them and put into a foster family who tried to make him act like a girl again; when he ran away from them, he found his golden crystal that implanted in his throat. After that, he was sent to a different family, where he sort-of met Adrian and began pining and wanting from afar.

His dad just remarried after getting divorced four years ago, so Riley and his dad have just moved in with her. On top of that, he recently found his crystal, a black one that stuck itself in his wrist. New power, new neighborhood, new stepmom, and not a friend around to talk to. If he had the guts, he'd gladly talk to the guys he'd seen around town.

Bio: Will's story of finding his crystals is a strange and unfortunate affair. The aspiring writer was outside during the night of the meteor shower. Where he was at got hit with multiple crystal fragments, one of which was imbedded in his eye, giving him phenomenal powers over light, but also impairing his sight. He later went back to try and see what had happened, only to find one other crystal that bonded with him, this one allowed him to turn his words into reality, provided of course he had something to write with and something to write on. Fortunately, this had no effect on Will's physical attributes like some other crystals might have. Since then he has been trying to figure out how to use his powers.

Bio: Jeanie grew up with her parents and her older sister. a year ago Jeanie and her parents were taking a long drive out in the country when a semitruck hit them while crossing an intersect. Her parents were killed instantly but, Jeanie was thrown out of the car through her open window. She landed in a ditch her hand connecting with a purple crystal. When the crystal connected with her it slowly began to heal her. When the police and fire trucks came the only injury she had left was a broken finger.
Crystal Effects: her crystal heals. The crystal can heal Jeanie or Anyone else she is touching. It usually takes 20 minutes to heal a broken bone. If she uses her crystal alot in a short amount of time it wears her out.

Bio: MariAnna found her crystals in a rather strange way. She had stayed up late to watch the meteor shower through her window, opening it to see better. As the space rocks fell, two small jewels fell into her room and onto her desk. Curious, she had peered closely at the small flecks before daring to even touch them. After a while, she had decided that they were harmless, and picked one fleck up in each hand, holding them upto her ears to see if they would look nice as a pair of earrings. Imagine her surprise, and slight terror, when they embedded themselves into her ears! MariAnna pretended that they really were just earrings that she had made, and that she loved them so much that she never wanted to take them out.
Crystal Effects: MariAnna's silver crystal, lodged in her right earlobe, gives her the ability to control the water cycle [Condensation, Precipitation, and Evaporation]. However, the power behind her ability diminishes in dry places, while flourishing in humid places. Her cloudy cream jewel, lodged in her left earlobe, allows her to create haunting melodies that temporarily hypnotize or immobilize anyone within ear range, so long as she has a wind instrument to play on.

Other: MariAnna's musical abilities only work if she is playing an instrument she actually knows how to play. She cannot just randomly pick up any instrument and hypnotize someone with the music. She plays the flute, piano, saxophone, clarinet, and guitar.

Crystal Effects: He can make metal blades come out of his right arm; he can grow poisonous wasps in his left arm.

Bio: For as long as Ryo can remember, he’s been in love with fire. During the meteor shower, one of the crystals broke through his window. Entranced by its fiery red tint, he picked it up and it embedded itself in his palm. As he played around with more fires, burning several things, he soon found out about his powers. Eventually he burned down his own house with his parents still trapped inside. He felt terrified yet exhilarated and just loved watching things burn. From that day on, he has been using his powers to set things ablaze whenever he felt like it.
Crystal Effects: Able to create fires as long as he has a fuel source.

Bio: A renowned scientist and biologist, Issac's career was to find out what made living things tick. Soon after he received a Nobel Prize, he was diagnosed with a terminal lung disease. Since that day his outlook on life changed. Since no one would fund his search for a cure, he decided to fund his research with less than legal acts. Then imagine his surprise when his lab partner brought in a brilliant gold crystal with the intent to examine it. Issac decided to have a look and when he picked it up, an excruciating pain shot through his body. His assistant tried to help him, and he did, but not intentionally. The crystal allowed Issac to pawn off any injury or disease he had on to anyone he touched, and his weak assistant suddenly found himself gasping for air. Since then Issac decided he'd find more of these crystals, and whoever possessed them, with the ultimate goal of taking over the world.
Crystal Effects: Any injury or disease Issac has sustained is fully transferable to any one person he touches. He must currently have that injury/disease and he must make physical contact. Issac is only capable of using his power consciously, meaning if he is asleep or otherwise incapacitated, he cannot use his power.

Bio: Max is an uncaring guy, he's never had what he's heard described of as 'emotions' - or not for a long time anyway. He gets rather put out when people don't just take his phony social personality at face value. Basically if a person really wants to get to know him, he gets disgusted and freezes them out totally throwing them away. He's got a number of ex girl friends for this reason, though he doesn't think of them as girlfriends really, more like toys used and discarded.
He doesn't have many male friends, mostly just ...fans.
Crystal Effects: Max has a completely clear crystal; this crystal is in the back of his right hand and almost unnoticeable. Its effect actually removes completely any crystal and all its effects from other people. Unfortunately Max doesn’t know this yet. However he does notice that he seems to be awfully lucky in avoiding the effects of other crystal powers. In actuality if Max were to get close to someone the effects of their crystal would be greatly diminished and in life threatening situations they’d even cease to function. Unfortunately to completely remove a crystal means Max would have to expend a great amount of effort - which as he doesn’t yet know how to work his own crystal means he would ultimately end up in a coma.
Max's second crystal is a cloudy blue one. It exerts a calming aura over the people he talks to and helps him excel at basically everything. He doesn't even need to focus to use it. Because of it he is exceedingly charming, convincing, and athletic; it even elevates his cognitive function, improving his ability to recall and predict. Max got this one accidentally, by leaning back on a tree. It's embedded in the occipital area of his head - think of the soft spot at the base of your skull. It's hidden by his hair.

Theme Song: Stuff without vocals.
Other: Max doesn't respect people who aren't smarter than him (so practically no one now that his clear crystal is at work). His parents actually were run of the mill people, but never cultivated an emotional connection with any of their kids, therefore producing emotionally stunted adults. Max is the best of all their kids at faking emotion, however, he has yet to experience any really powerful ones (other than hate and aggravation).

Bio: Kojiro is a care free traveler. He always travels normally by foot or by care but he gets to where he is going. One night he was sleeping in a tree when a shard landed near him. He picked up the light green shard and embedded it in his chest between his tattoos. With this shard he is able to control wind just by making some motion and using it his power he can fly where ever now. He said another crystal, a dark blue one which is embedded beneath his belly button. this one allows him to change forms into a dark blue Chinese dragon
Crystal Effects: create and manipulate wind through motion, change into a Chinese dragon

Skye was carrying some flowers as she headed towards the cemetery. Her crystals were hidden, but if someone was observant, they'd see something sparkle on her arm. She honestly didn't care if people saw her blue crystal, as long as the other one was safe.

Adrian gazed out his bedroom window, wondering if he should bother going out today or not. He hated what his crystals had done to him and was rather afraid of what people would think seeing him the way he was. Massive wings...Horns growing from his head....Reaching over his shoulder, he felt around for the small bump beneath his shirt, the one that gave him his wings. Just to take out his frustrations he'd try to yank the gem out of him, but it never worked. It seemed like this would also be one of the days when he opened his window, stuck out his head, and screamed at the sky in frustration and rage. "What did I ever do to you?!" he shouted at the heavens, often just attracting even more weird looks than he would otherwise.

Riley flinched a little as he stepped out of his house, hearing the winged guy across the street shout at the sky. He'd seen him staring out of his window a few times, but this was a new one. He sighed, feeling a little sorry for him. Pulling back his sleeve, he turned his hand over and looked at the small black gem in his wrist. At least he was lucky to have powers and not turn into some sort of mutant.

Sighing softly, Zach looked sadly at Adrian as he cursed the heavens. Then he wondered if Adrian would go out with him, for the millionth time. Then he imaged it. On his next exhalation, a few sparks flew out of his mouth and he clamped down on it, pressing a hand against his throat gently. After a quick cough, he resumed his morning walk, trying to avoid glancing towards Adrian's window and failing horribly.

Shane scratched at her arm absently as she glanced around before sitting down next to the grave she'd been visiting for almost a year, now. "Hey, honey," she said quietly. She began to talk until her empathy crystal started thrumming, signaling the presence of another person's emotions in the vicinity. Shane stopped talking and got up, not even wincing anymore as the crystal in her arm started to shift. It used to be painful, but after a while she hardly noticed it. She saw Skye and relaxed. She'd never talked to the girl, but she seemed harmless enough. She sat back down and resumed her low murmurs, telling her love about the things that happened.

Feeling like he was done venting for the day, he gave a frustrated sigh and turned back to his room, sending a few stray feathers out the window and fluttering down to the ground as he retreated inside for his guitar.

"Does he...do that a lot?" Riley asked as he looked up at Adrian's window as Zach walked by. He'd seen him around plenty of times before, but never had the guts to say anything until now. Rather, he didn't have a reason to say anything until now. Maybe excuse would be a better word....

Skye saw someone else already there, Shane. She remember seeing her a few times before, but had no interest in talking. Besides, this was a place to visit the dead, not make new friends. She place her flowers down on her family's graves, one for each tombstone before sitting at her brother's grave. She kept wishing that her brother was still alive.

"Not... a lot," Zach said slowly. "At least, not when I'm on my walks." Glancing towards the window one more time, he went and grabbed one of the feathers before returning. "It's for... a project," Zach said, turning faintly red as he mumbled to Riley. Zach cleared his throat and asked, "Um, what's your name?" He figured if he was going to be talking to someone, he might as well be civil.

"Riley...Riley McHale..." Riley said rather timidly as he fiddled with his hands behind his back. "I just moved here a few weeks ago, so I'm still trying to learn the area..." Rambling out of nowhere. Perfect first impression!

"Oh." Zach bit his lip. "Well, maybe I could show you around sometime? Help you... figure out where everything is." Unable to help himself, he glanced once more at Adrian's window and then said, "Or, um, we could go for coffee or... something." Zach's face was red and he couldn't tell if he was spitting up fire. He certainly didn't want to check in front of someone.

Once she was done telling her deceased love about her day, Shane came to a snap decision and lurked outside of the cemetery gates for Skye. She was going to talk to her.

Once Skye was done reminiscing, she started heading out of the cemetery, planning to go home.

"Skye. Hey." Shane nearly reached out with the wrong arm, but caught herself. Her left, normal arm reached out and touched Skye gently. "Can we talk?"

Skye stopped and looked at Shane. "...Sure." she replied, wondering why she wanted to talk and what about. They never really talked before.
