Whether in the real world or one of fantasy, there will always be three constants: taxes, death, and power hungry politicians. For the moment, our focus will be on the latter. Two kingdoms have been in the middle of a cold war for three centuries, but as the sands of time fall, it becomes clearer and clearer that one is destined to fall. Under the service of the current King, two abnormal 'pawns' are sent out to gradually tip the scale in their country's favor. What pawn, though, wishes to remain under another's thumb forever? What pawn doesn't wish to escape poverty and to become a king himself?

Username: Animeprincess_9400 Name: "Judith" Bio: A devil in the guise of a mortal woman, this creature was bound through trickery and force to serve the whims of the current king. While in mortal form she goes under the alias 'Judith', refusing to reveal her true name lest she make her situation any worse than it currently is. Calm and surprisingly soft spoken for a demon, Judith proves to be quite friendly for an abomination seeking to steal one's soul at the earliest opprotunity. Appearance: Judith Other: Despite her manners and pleasant demeanor, she only proves to be helpful when she has something to gain or something too important to lose otherwise.
Username:Shiningdragon21 Name:Tyreal Bio:An arcane archer in the services of the kingdom. Tyreal has seen the battles between the two kingdoms first hand thru the thicket of war. A child of war he has seen his fair share of combat and come out alive while others have had there lives ended. Said to have the luck of the devil he has returned from many a battle alive while everyone who was with him perished. The trait it seems has caught the eye of the current king who has contacted him thru a letter closed with the royal seal. He has since arrived back at the castle from the latest failed clash against the neighboring kingdom and now awaits his time to see the King. Appearance:Tyreal Other:Not one to show any sympathy or care for those that he sees as being in his way. Known to be a little on the sadistic side when on a mission.

The pitter-patter of two delicate feet against icy gray stone could be heard echoing softly through the hallway of the castle during one chilly fall afternoon. Patient, droopy eyes of a bright violet hue stared straight ahead as their owner progressed through the absurdly long labyrinth that was the castle corridors. The dainty woman's steady pace let her mousey brown hair flow faintly behind her, just as the pure whiteness that was her skirt brushed the front of her legs as it also flowed gently behind. She held an air of dignity and grace as she headed towards her destination, or rather, the person she intended to find. This was even despite the fact that she was quite obviously lost.

The swish of leather filled the air around as a lone person could be seen on his way towards the castle. A young man by the look of it no more then his mid twenties by his face and dress. Steel gray hair blew lightly caught by a small gust that blew thru the kingdom of Kryta on this chilled fall afternoon. His deep goldenrod colored eyes stared ahead at the approaching castle and approaching guards with no hesitation. As he neared a sword was drawn by one of the guards. A normality in this time of war they had come to live within so the act was to be expected. As he lifted a note tho bearing a single seal in red wax the sword was sheathed as he the guard turned ushering him into the castle. The seal that of the king himself allowed entrance into the cold stone castle that stood so dominating looking down upon the homes and shops of those that lived within the kingdom.
As they reached the doors of the castle the man put his letter away in his clothing as the guard infront of him opened the door ushering him inside as he headed likely to return to his post. The easiest step of his travel was now over with his entrance to the castle. Now he simply needed to meet the one he had been fighting for the past several years. Taking a deep breath he held it for a moment before letting it out slowly and walking down the corridor. He had been to the castle once before as a child well before the war had started so the way to the kings throne room still hung in his mind tho slightly foggy in it's time left idle. His footsteps on the stone steps were nearly unheard the leather shoes he wore giving a almost inaudible noise at each step as he headed onwards a chill seeming to run down the length of his spine.

Not long after the man's arrival the brunette lady, for lack of a more fitting word, stumbled upon him. Despite years of service within the castle walls she knew the place about as well as a fish knew air. Her knowledge of the servants and most other inhabitants was just as poor. In hopes of finding proper direction, she asked the leather-clad man, "Please excuse me, sir, but might I trouble you with a quick question?"

Slowing to a stop as the woman appeared infront of him Tyreal looked her up and down. From the look of her he wanted to think she was a servant tho her manner of dress showed she was far higher then one. A concubine maybe for the king tho he was unsure of that either as he knew the king to be wed. "It won't be any trouble if I can give you some assistance" he told her shifting his weight as he looked at her goldenrod hued eyes giving a look of confidence to the woman.

Taking on a warm smile Judith asked, "Would you happen to know how to get to the throne room from here?" The dread at having to deal with her 'master' was well hidden behind a perfect façade of pleasant peacefulness and serenity, leaving any and all who looked upon her unaware of her true thoughts. Her ugly and vile thoughts on her miserable situation.

So she was a servant then. That would leave only one person as the owner of her. The king himself. What her duty tho he could not even form a guess at tho as he looked towards the north. "It has been some time since I have been within these walls but I believe it is this way" he told her beckoning towards a long corridor lined with pillars and suits of armor. It was from the current standing the more prevalent direction it could be in. The suits as well he remembered from his youth tho it had seemed a few more were added in the years.

Judith turned her head in the direction that the male had pointed, her smile fading somewhat as she looked over the corridor in which he'd pointed her. She honestly wished that he didn't know. Still, she was greatful for his help. "Thank you very much. I appreciate your assistance." With that, she hesitantly headed towards the throne room as bile swished and churned within her stomach. That pompous king, as far as she was concerned, couldn't drop dead soon enough.

Not having seen the drop in her smile as he was not facing her Tyreal simply responded to her words by watching her depart. She was heading in the same direction he was but he unlike it seemed she was held no sense of urgency in the matter. The king would not be waiting for him as the letter indicated he was simply to come when he was able to. Since he had been brought back to the kingdom by a request he simply had slummed about for a few days to relax. Now tho he was in the castle and down that corridor was the place and person who had summoned him. Gathering himself he set off after the woman not walking at the pace that would readily catch up to her but would allow him to arrive not long after she did.

Judith arrived at the doors that lead to the throne room quicker than one might expect, heading inside while maintaining her casual pace. The king, whom had summoned her hours ago, was clearly displeased. Judith simply kept her smile, not caring in the least about his majesty's displeasure. When she approached to speak with him, she did not kneel, let alone offer any sort of formal curtsey. Before he could chew her out for her time getting there, though, another had arrived. Judith turned to see the very man she'd gotten directions from before. How amusing.

Entering into the kings throne room the memories of [is last time in the castle filled him. Sitting atop his throne as he had back the a now tired and withered soul sat. The man once who inspired devotion and held his kngdom within a hand fit more for a blacksmith then a king had finally it seemed be caught by age. His figure tho had done little to diminish in the years still a on of strength tho now time was slowly pulling that from him. Like a spider simply waiting for her poison to catch up to her victim the life of this man was soon to fade.
Walking in a bit farther it was quickly evident of Tyreals place in society. His eay of carrying himself was that of a soldier a trait any noble could distinguish. Stepping infront of the king the man kneeled his his on the ground and his hand over his heart. "My king i have come at your summoning" the man said his eyes on the ground. Within these walls he knew his place and that was at the.ground. It was not the place he wished for but his rank would allow for nothing more then this. For now atleast.

{I'm sorry for being totally useless, but I'm not quite sure what to do. sweatdrop Should i just try to wing it and play the king? Have Judith make mental snarking as she watches the scene unfold? Or what?}

{Then I hope you don't mind if I wing it.}
The king, his expected visitor having arrived, no longer had the time to chew the demoness out. He wasted no time with pleasantries or formalities, though, going straight to the reason why Tyreal was invited to the castle and how he could 'best serve his country'. In other words, a supposedly high paying job offer involving a strange mixture of espionage, sabotage, and bodyguarding/keeping in check the other individual tasked with such a mission.
