The Battle against Chaos...

Gifted by not only a single God, but the twin Gods Quetzalcoatl and Xolotl, it is said that the original Storm Warden was a great creature that protected the land with powerful winds and terrifying lightning. He would use the rains to wash away the taint of the lands. The sound of thunder was a warning of his cleansing. He would travel the land in search of the taint that must be destroyed at all costs, lest the lands fall into chaos. He watched as the ground was soaked in blood from the claws of the tainted. Their teeth like daggers trying to rend apart all that was good.

In his wisdom, the great Storm Warden could determine only one thing: In order to defeat Chaos, one first had to embrace it.

Perhaps his eventual downfall was from allowing too much chaos to overcome him. The power of his storms increased with each 'cleansing' of the lands. Until one fateful day, he went too far. He all but destroyed the land. Even the guardians of the oceans sent their great waves to try and wash away the destruction he had caused.

So grieved by his failure to watch over and cleanse the land, the great Storm Warden cried. He cried so much that his tears fell like the rain, once again washing away the taint from the lands that he himself had created. It is believed that his tears carried so much of him within themselves, they created the first of his children. The first true Storm Wardens. They were blessed with his affiliation for weather but also given teeth and claws from the tiny bit of Chaos that remained in the Great Warden, to help them battle those that tainted the lands. They have carried on the Great Warden's desire to protect and cleanse the land of creatures born to Chaos and Darkness.

Thus the Storm Wardens were created.

Gods____________________

The Storm Wardens look to the twin gods, Quetzalcoatl the God of Wind and Learning and Xolotl the God of Fire and Lightning. It is thanks to these two Gods that they have their gifts which allow them to battle the Chaos.

Quetzalcoatl : The God of Wind and Learning. It is believed that he is the one that graced them with their wings and the ability to fly, allowing them to fight Chaos with wind and knowledge of what Chaos truly is.

Xolotl : The God of Fire and Lightning. It is believed that he is the one that graced them with their horns and the ability to harness lightning (for 'Suti mixes that have an affinity to lightning) as well as their teeth and claws, allowing them to fight on a more equal ground with Chaos.


Beliefs___________________

The Great Warden : A stallion that is believed to have been graced with the gifts of Wind and Lightning and who could call upon the power of a storm to do his bidding. The Great Warden was a creature of great strength but fell victim to Chaos and was unable to handle so much power. He is the creator and fonder of the Storm Wardens.

The Wardens : The protectors of the land that look to Quetzalcoatl and Xolotl as their gods. They, like the Great Warden, believe it to be their duty to battle Chaos (Skinwalkers) to try and rid them from the land.

Wardens are most typically hippo'suti mixes or ulun'suti mixes. They must have scales of some sort, though they do not have to cover a large portion of the body. Horns and feathered wings are an absolute must! The Wardens believe their horns act as a sort of lightning rod, which is where they gain their connection to the lightning and Xolotl. Feathered wings connect them to the wind and allow them to fly as Quetzalcoatl does. Herd members also tend to be stormy or dark colors in general, however it's not uncommon for paler coats to arise either. They believe that the more your coat mimics the storm clouds, the more blessed and honored by the Great Warden you are. Glowing runes are another must have for herd members. These, like their horns and wings, are believed to be signs they have been blessed by the Great Warden himself and carry the heaviest burden of all. Those Soquili with runes etched into their bodies are the ones with the most chaos carried inside them. They are the closest to the Great Warden himself, having physical proof of the chaos he once allowed to overcome him. These Warden's are the most powerful of the warriors and destined to leadership among the herd.

Those that are not graced with the gifts of Quetzalcoatl or Xolotl (horns and feathered wings) are still granted sanctuary and protection, as well as herd membership, but they will not be honored with any high ranking positions within the herd.

Chaos : Simply the name they have given to all Skinwalkers. Those that are not Walkers but exhibit dark traits and habits may be referred to as Chaos tainted, or just 'Tainted'.

Thunderstorms : Viewed as signs of the Twin Gods approval in the work they are performing in honor of the Great Warden. Thunderstorms are celebrated as good omens that all is well for the herd. Times of droughts are seen as ill omens and that the Twin Gods are unhappy with the herd. They are reminded of the Great Warden's fall to Chaos and fear the same shall befall the entire herd. When times of drought do hit, warriors are sent out to hunt down the Chaos that is causing such troubling times.

Outsiders : Those not born of the herd. If an outsider should show up that looks like the Wardens, they believe that individual was simply carried too far by the Great Warden's rain and has finally found their way back home. All others that venture into the Storm Warden territory are welcomed and offered sanctuary in the outskirts of the herd until the Chaos Warden deems them free enough of taint to join the inner herd.

Familiars : Quetzalcoatl's, Winged Wolves, and Dragon Otters - These familiars are greatly respected and it's seen as a very special blessing should a member of the herd bond with one.


Traditions_________________

Cleansing : This is what the Warden's refer to when they go into a brutal battle with Skinwalkers, who are their greatest enemy and considered to be the embodiment of Chaos. They must 'cleanse' or rid the land of any Walkers that are killing the innocent and staining the land with the blood of their victims.

Gathering of the Storm : A celebration that is held after a season of drought, marking the renewed approval of the Twin Gods. Retelling's of the Battle of Chaos are acted out and a great feast is prepared along with dancing and merriment. Festivities are carried on until the first rains fall, a sign that the Great Warden is joyous.

Chaos Warden
This is held by the highest ranking Wardens.
Only those that show the most strength and signs of being blessed by the Great Warden will find themselves here.
Usually the rank held by the Alpha and their mate.

Chaos Thunder Warden
These Wardens are like your Captains and Generals.
They are in charge of all the Thunder Wardens and report directly to the Chaos Wardens.

Chaos Lightning Warden
These Wardens are like your Captains and Generals.
They are in charge of all the Lightning Wardens and report directly to the Chaos Wardens.

Thunder Warden
These Warden's are the main fighting warriors of the herd.
They are placed under a Chaos Thunder Warden with the primary duty of performing Cleansings.

Lightning Warden
Like the Thunder Warden's, these Warden's are the perimeter guard.
They watch the herds borders and report back any findings they hear or have witnessed of Chaos attacks in the land.

The Windsong
Those that act as Ambassadors and Envoys of the herd.
These individuals are selected carefully by the Chaos Warden's as they will represent the herd as a whole and open trade routes among other herds as well as help secure Allies.

Rain Watch
Those that wish to embark on a path to become a Warden will start here.
Rain Watch are placed under Thunder or Lightning Warden's to train and prepare for Cleansings.

The Storm
All other herd members are classified here!
They make up the bulk of the Storm Wardens and the ones the Warden's fight the most furiously to protect.
