■ JADEDFor the majority of her life Bryony was an optimistic sort of person; not quite cheerful but certainly approaching every day with a positive outlook. She was cautiously hopeful that things would go her way. After the deaths of her husband and son she has come to expect the worst to break down her door at any time, and generally goes about her days bracing herself for the other shoe to drop. For the sake of her surviving family she attempts to put forward a calm, assured demeanor, but inside she usually wonders what's next. ■ NEUTRALBryony has always been a very neutral (at least outwardly) person, not one to jump to assumptions or conclusions without learning all the facts first, and not quick to anger or impulsive decisions. She has a great deal of patience (she has to, being a mother of four), and generally keeps her opinions to herself and a few close confidantes. She's not one to gossip or look down on others, but remains of the belief that people worthy of her contempt deserve every ounce of scorn directed their way, and will often flatly call others out on their poor manners. ■ INTUITIVEBryony, although no fool, has always been one to go with her gut feeling, which most of the time seems to work in her favor. If a situation feels wrong, she gets out of it as quickly and politely as possible. If she doesn't trust someone, she keeps them at arm's length. Her younger brother likes to joke her with that she might be 'half a Seer', as 'I was right' and 'What did I tell you?' was a constant refrain heard from her as a child. Her deepest regret is that the one time when it mattered the most, her intuition didn't send off any warning signs, at least none that she ever noticed. ■ CONSCIENTIOUSAs a student at Hogwarts, Bryony typically spent hours on homework, not necessarily because she didn't understand it, but because she wanted to be sure she'd done it as best she could. Her notes in every class, even the ones she never did well in, were meticulous. As an adult she is a massive fan of planners, charts, and the like. Everything needs to be up to her standards of organization, which frequently exasperates her when it comes to her very messy children. If a product doesn't come out just the way she wants it, she scraps it and starts again. ■ PITILESSBryony is not a very sympathetic person inclined to feeling sorry for others, or for that matter, herself. Since the death of her husband and son she has thrown herself into her work and her role as a mother to climb out of the depths of her grief, and cannot stand what she calls the 'Widow Look' or people offering their apologies for her loss. The assumption that she is incapable of raising her children alone especially stings, and as Bryony cannot stand pity directed at herself, does not typically offer it to others. Forgiveness is no longer something she believes she can afford. ■ GROUNDEDBryony has always been very practical, especially for someone coming from a house often assumed to be 'airy' or 'holier than thou'. She has two concerns: her family and her business. She will not sacrifice one for the sake of the other, but she can't allow either to fail. This has resulted in a constant balancing act which tends to leave Bryony more than a little stressed and overextended, but she feels that the mundane details of her everyday life are what are keeping her from tearing her hair out or attempting murder herself.

CHILDHOODBryony was born in Bath, England, in a middle class home directly overlooking the river. Her father, Mason Summers, was a muggle man who had, unbeknownst to him, fallen in love with a witch, and Shelby Summers did not reveal her double life to him until shortly after the wedding. To his credit, he took it well, and they went on to have three children, Bryony being the oldest. Two years later her sister Iris followed, and then a brother, Fulton, four years after that. Unfortunately complications during the birth led to Bryony's mother passing away shortly afterward, leaving her father widowed and she and her siblings without a mother.
SCHOOL YEARS Bryony arrived at Hogwarts hoping to be placed in Hufflepuff, like her late mother, but wasn't terribly upset with her sorting into Ravenclaw. While she enjoyed being in the house of wit and learning, she was a quiet, slightly moody adolescent who kept to herself much of the time, briefly dating a few boys, and spending most of her days tucked up in a corner of the common room with a book in hand, or looking after her flighty younger sister, who seemed determined to waltz into trouble at every turn. She had some hopes initially of becoming a healer, but quickly realized she lacked the necessary skills in DADA and Herbology to secure a position. The only thing she really enjoyed in her spare time aside from reading, knitting, or enviously watching Quidditch games was baking, and her few attempts at making chocolates and fudge for her family had always gone over well.
POST GRADUATIONAfter graduating Bryony apprenticed at a bakery, which was where she met her future husband. At around Christmas time a young man came in, wearing a lightly ridiculous hat and a ludicrous scarf, and very solemnly inquired who had been responsible for the birthday cake sent out the previous week with 'Happy 21st, Seumas!' in green frosting. Bryony raised her hand behind the counter. "Ah 'hink ye mus' be a goddess or somethin'," said Seumas not quite smoothly, "Because 'at cake was heavenly."
It was love at first sight. Not really, but Bryony's oldest son, Todd, was born the following summer, a month early. The wedding was that next winter. Bryony loved her husband and her husband loved her, and family was very important to Seumas, since his parents had died in his second year at Hogwarts, and two years into their marriage his older brother passed away in a freak flying accident. By the time Bryony was twenty eight she had a still loving husband, four wonderful children and was looking into buying the sweets shop in Hogsmeade. Life was as close to perfect, she thought, as one could hope for in an imperfect world.
Then one day in the summer she went out with her daughters and infant son, leaving her other two sons, Todd and Callum, home with Seumas. His sister was supposed to stop by later, having just gotten back from her honeymoon after finally eloping with her longtime lover, who'd recently, and amicably, divorced his wife. Bryony and Illisa had had their squabbles in the past, but she'd always liked Nathaniel Hargrave, who'd she'd met several times before, his now former wife, Liliana, and Nathaniel's younger brother, Faron. It was a shame that the patriarch of the Hargrave family was such a tyrant, she'd thought. They all seemed rather lovely individually.
When Bryony finally came home with the girls and the baby, the house was silent, but the door was unlocked. The first thing that registered with Bryony was that she couldn't hear the boys roughhousing. The second was that it looked like someone had thrown a bucket of red paint down the stairs. Seumas Thorburn had been killed instantly, ten year old Todd some time after. Illisa Hargrave had been left for dead. Callum was found hiding in the back of an upstairs closet hours later. The bodies of Miriam, Nathaniel, and Liliana Hargrave were found at their home shortly thereafter, discovered by Myron Hargrave, Nathaniel and Illisa's young son, back home from a friend's house. Nathaniel and Liliana's two daughters, Miranda and Callista, had been fortunate enough to be visiting cousins in Spain.
Ira and Faron Hagrave were apprehended by Aurors four days later, Ira killed in the process. Faron stood trial, calmly recounted the murders down to minute details like the color shirt Todd had been wearing, and was sentenced to life in Azkaban for the murder and torture of his brother Nathaniel Hargrave and Todd Thorburn, and for assisting with the murder and torture of his mother, Miriam Hargrave, sister-in-law Liliana Hargrave, and Seumas Thorburn, as well as the torture and attempted murder of his sister-in-law, Illisa Hargrave.
Bryony bought the shop in Hogsmeade and moved house, as she could no longer enter the old house through the front door without having a panic attack every time she looked at the stairs. Several years later she began dating an auror named Matteo.

Maisie is good with coming up with plans on the fly and is also very observant of her surroundings and the people around her, which tends to work out in her favor.

Even if she's internally furious or heartbroken, she's able to not show it in the heat of the moment, although privately she might throw a fit or cry. It's very hard to ruffle her feathers because she works so hard on keeping calm and not letting herself show whether or not she's upset, which came in handy as someone with three younger siblings.
QUICK-WITTED xxx»» Maisie can come across as a bit shallow or as an airhead, but she's actually quite bright, and she can be very dry and sarcastic when she wants to, although she rarely voices what she really thinks aloud. Maisie is also good at piecing things together and taking mental notes of a situation, and has a talent for reading the mood of a room and knowing when (and when not) to speak up. She enjoys sly humor and isn't above getting in a few verbal jabs at her family and friends from time to time.

She has no desire to see anyone hurt, even people who have been less than kind to her, and generally wants to help those around her, even when it comes at a risk to herself. CHILDHOOD xxx»» Maisie was born in Scotland to two loving parents. Her father, Seumas, was a former Gryffindor, and her mother, Bryony, was a former Ravenclaw. She had one elder brother, Todd, and eventually, three younger siblings; her sister Laire and her brothers Callum and Nicol. As the oldest daughter she was the apple of her mother's eye and although she squabbled with her siblings, had a very close and loving family. She was especially close with Todd, who was three years her senior.
Unfortunately, tragedy struck when she was seven years old, and she came home with her mother and siblings to discover her father and Todd murdered. Her brother Callum had also been home, but had survived the attack by hiding upstairs. Her aunt Illisa had been tortured and left for dead by her father-in-law and brother-in-law, along with several other members of the Hargrave family. Maisie was fortunate to be shielded from most of this, given her age, but she never quite got over her father and brother being torn from her so suddenly. The family moved on with time, and by the time she was preparing to attend Hogwarts, her mother had begun to date again, which Maisie fully supported, believing she deserved to be happy again. She was also very excited to start at Hogwarts, although she wished Todd was there to welcome her.
SCHOOL YEARS
FIRST YEAR»» Maisie was thrilled to be sorted into Ravenclaw like her mother and immediately devoted herself to all her classes. She also attended every Quidditch game and planned on trying out the next year. SECOND YEAR»» Maisie tried out for Quidditch and made reserve, and even got to play one game. She also took over the fencing club with fellow second year, Enid, a Slytherin. At the end of the year, she was able to pick out her electives for third year, which she was excited about. THIRD YEAR»» Maisie continued to run the fencing club with Enid, and also made first string as a Ravenclaw chaser, to her delight. Her family came to see every one of her games. Mythology soon became her favorite elective. FOURTH YEAR»» Maisie spent her fourth year mostly dreading her fifth, although she still had a good time with Quidditch and fencing, even if it left with less free time than she would have liked. FIFTH YEAR»» Maisie ran into a boy from her year, Felix, the summer beforehand. The two ended up going on a bit of an impromptu date after some chatting, and by the time the school year began, were a couple. Maisie had had plenty of crushes before but had never actually dated anyone, and was a bit overwhelmed by her first relationship. However, Felix was very sweet, and the two grew closer over the course of their fifth year, in between studying for OWLs and a snowball fight that ended abruptly after a professor was caught in the crossfire. SIXTH YEAR»» Maisie continued to date Felix and was named vice captain of the Ravenclaw Quidditch team, to her surprise. She ended up focusing most of the year on Quidditch, since she didn't have any exams to worry about, and was thrilled when Ravenclaw won the Cup. SEVENTH YEAR»» Maisie had a fairly stressful final year, between her worries over Quidditch and her upcoming NEWTs. While they didn't win the Cup, the season wasn't a total failure either, and she did fairly well on her exams, to her relief. She looked forward a much more relaxed summer after having graduated.

CHILDHOOD xxx»» Laire was born the third child and second daughter of Seumas and Bryony Thorburn, a Scottish wizard and witch. Her childhood was a happy one, with many siblings and loving parents, until she was five years old and her father and brother were brutally murdered by her aunt's father and brother-in-law. While Laire was never given the specifics, she was told enough to understand that what had happened had broken both her mother's heart and the family in general. She coped with this trauma by acting out, and things only began to calm down a few years later. Her mother purchased a shop in Hogsmeade, and Laire began to look forward to attending Hogwarts, even if she and her elder sister Maisie did not always get along. When her mother began to date again she was initially upset but warmed up to the man, Matt, an auror. Upon receiving her letter to Hogwarts she was desperate for the summer to fly by.
