Name: Amaya
Age: 26
Sex: Female
Sexual Orientation: Bisexual

Craft: Smuggling your goods
Rank: n/a
Location: Everywhere and nowhere

Physical Description:
Around average height with a lean build and hidden muscle to her from turns of using a bow and arrow to hunt. Medium tan skin with hardly any marks, except along her hands. Those tend to have small white scars along the fingers. Straight dark hair falls almost to her hip and is usually kept braided. Amber eyes peer out at you from a small and angular face. Typically, Amaya has a fairly clean appearance to her, taking advantage of wearing simple but nice dresses as they remind her of the kind of stuff her mother used to wear.

Personality:
When first meeting Amaya, one will discover she is very blunt. There is no beating around the bush with her, as the saying goes. She'll say whatever is on her mind and get straight to the point. Too much time gets wasted when playing the dance of word games. Those that choose to do so will simply annoy her. Most of the time, she'll give her two marks about the conversation at hand and walk away. Attempt to push her buttons, and she'll come back at you with a sharp tongue and several unsavory words. She is thick skinned and there is very little that will offend her. However, while she can be blunt, Amaya has a difficult time empathizing with anyone, a task that Pallienth is constantly battling her rider with. She feels it's a waste of a person's time to sit and feel sorry for oneself. Problems won't solve themselves, obviously. One must pick themselves up and keep going without looking back. Focusing on the past or what can't be changed won't get you anywhere.

Amaya herself is surprisingly (or maybe not so surprisingly) a fairly independent woman. Not in the sense she won't listen to what her superiors have to say (though she might have a tart comment or three to toss at them). She is independent in the sense she doesn't necessarily need to have people around or close to her. Amaya functions just as well on her own as she does having another individual around. It's helped her to become a very adaptable person. She can adjust to change swiftly and is not known for setting anything in stone - excluding her opinions - as far as plans go for they can always change in the blink of an eye. The few things that Amaya has allowed to become anchored in her life are what's left of her family and Pallienth. The dragon can be very insistent on forcing the woman to break stride and make friends shaffit!

Probably thanks to the meddling of Pallienth more than anything, Amaya does manage to make friends or find people she's willing to accept as acquaintances. To them, she is quite loyal. This is especially true of any wingriders she flies with. She will firmly protect those she respects and is not afraid to fight for what she believes in. While she still prefers not to have a huge network of people to call friend, she's discovered that she enjoys having them. They give her more fuel to be even better than she is. However, she does not take this to the extreme in saying she will always choose a loyalty with one person over another. One group verses another. Amaya will place her loyalty where she feels it is deserved and what feels strongly about. This is especially apparent in anyone who has her respect or a partner that has managed to break through her steely armor.

Thanks to her blunt nature, Amaya doesn't have too much of an issue with admitting to weaknesses she may have. This doesn't mean she'll let you get away with poking fun at or taking advantage of them. She'll find a way to scheme some sort of revenge, depending on how foolish you were in attempting to take advantage of a weakness. Amaya also lacks the concern most people may have about being embarrassed over something. She may get annoyed if you helpfully point it out to her, but she doesn't actually care. It's just the fact you chose to point it out and bring it to her attention while trying to make a spectacle of it.

Positive Trait List Independent, Adaptable, Loyal

Negative Trait List Blunt, Lacks Empathy, Difficulty forming bonds

History:
Amaya's birth was a bit of a scandal. Born to the Lady of a Minor Weyrhold, there were rumors and whispers that she was not the daughter of the Lord. Matters were made more difficult by the fact she looked so much like her mother that it was impossible to see any features of who her father supposedly could be. Never the less, the Lord made it his mission to make her life challenging. When he bothered to acknowledge her presence. Her two siblings were always considered more important in his eyes. Yet her mother continued to treasure her daughter and teach her the ways of a lady and how to run a household. But Amaya never really cared for any of it. From her mother, she accepted the lessons and allowed the woman to teach her how to be a proper lady. From the Lord, she learned to harden herself and not be bothered by anything.

As she grew, Amaya found herself spending less and less time in her household and more time out on the streets, learning from the people. From them, she learned how harsh life could be and that sometimes, you needed an extra hand. She began smuggling things from her home to the streets, little things at first such as more food and a few marks here and there. But the more her hatred of the Lord grew, the riskier her stolen wares became.

Around the time that the Lord began to be suspicious of her, Amaya was Searched. She wasted no time in getting out of the Hold and was mildly surprised that there was no disagreement from her so called family. In fact, there was no word whatsoever from them. Except for her siblings. They were the only ones she really considered her family and promised to stay in contact.

Weyrlife was, in Amaya's opinion, not much better than the life she left behind. There were still politics and power plays. People willing to stab one another in the back. Inequality among riders and candidates. Amaya began to wonder if this was the right place for her after all. Especially when her first time Standing among the Sands resulted in nothing but disappointment. But she endured defeat and held her head high when a second chance was offered. And to her delight, one delicate green hatchling chose her. But that euphoric feeling didn't last long. Greenriders, apparently, were the bottom of the hidebound hierarchy of the Weyr. And that was just simply not something Amaya was going to stand for.

Amaya and Pallienth remained at their Weyr until the graduated weyrlinghood and then they flew the coop. There was no real plan for where they would go or what they were going to do beyond getting out of there. It was mostly by chance that Amaya happened to start picking up delivery jobs, obtaining one that was of a questionable nature. Finding that the pay was better - she even received a flit egg as one such payment! - the pair began to seek out these unsavory type of deliveries. In turn, they learned how to smuggle goods from one location to another, building up a reputation for being the flower of deceit. They currently do not have any one location that is considered home, going where the best business is, though they have begun working more closely with some powerful individuals in the black market rings.

With the return of Thread, Amaya and Pallienth have refrained from returning to any of the Weyrs, preferring their free and independent lifestyle.

Other:
- Has a gold firelizard named Token

DRAGON
Name: Pallienth
Age: 8
Color: Green
Size: 19.5'

Physical Description:
A little on the smaller side for greens, she has a fairly lean build with some muscle to her that was made to be more agile, like a feline. Her hide has a pale semi-saturated green that almost seems to glow in the evening and the light begins to dim and fade because of the how light her hide is. The underside to her wings seem to darken a few shades from the pale, but is still fairly light. To contrast the pale green are tiger-like stripes that race along her entire body that are of a deep hunter's green in color.

Personality:
A fairly nice green to deal with, Pallienth has an almost endless amount patience in her arsenal. She is willing to wait things out and take the proper time needed in order to allow things to fall rightly into place. Pallienth never rushes into things and lacks the ambition of others that keep trying over and over again at a single goal only to fail. She would rather take the long route, even if it may be slower or there is a shortcut available. For Pallienth, the real feeling of success in a goal comes from knowing you earned it through long hard work that you put time into. Not cheated your way by taking the quickest and easiest route you could find. She is also a great dragon to let handle those humans or dragons that may be in a mood, ready to snap at the first sign of argument. She will be the quiet 'shoulder' to lean on when you are ready and won't hound you with question after endless question for answers. You will tell her when you are ready. And she will be there to listen, though she may not always be able to help. But it's the thought that counts, right? In addition, Pallienth is an excellent dragon to introduce to the younger crowd. Whether they be human child or hatchling, Pallienth is perfectly willing to lay there and let them crawl all over her, try to get her to play, and be general nuisances. She doesn't mind and knows that overall, she is making the little ones' day.

She's just got one of those personalities that when you really get her going and in a happy mood, it's like sunshine slicing through the clouds of gloom and doom. Pallienth has a charming personality that if she ever learned how to utilize it to her own advantage, she'd have every person she came into contact with wrapped around her claw. Fortunately, this is not one of her most strongest traits and tends to only show up in the form of a dragon that is easy to get along with and quite pleasant to have as company. This is especially apparent during her Flight's. Even the never ending patience takes a back seat during a Flight, to be replaced with an aerial charmer that will be the sweetest and most bashful green around. So long as you don't hit a trigger. Hit that and even her patience won't be enough to keep Pallienth from losing her temper. Although she's no where near as frightening as some of the other dragons when this happens.

If there is one thing that will make this dragon do an almost three hundred and sixty degree shift in temperament, it's when you threaten the ones she loves. Pallienth will prove that just because she is on the smaller side of greens, this does not mean she can't be a whirlwind of teeth and claws. She is not ridiculously overprotective to the point she won't let her rider out of her sight. But she will start paying close attention if she knows someone has insulted or hurt her rider in some way. It is best that Pallienth not catch you in the act of threatening Hers. You will only get one warning. And that is in the form of the green showing up herself. Should another dragon snap or make an advancement towards her rider, Pallienth will step in the way and puff up like a cat that just got a bucket of cold water dumped on them. Yes she knows that she is outmatched in strength against the larger dragons, but she will not stand for having you show any aggression towards Hers. Aggression shown towards Pallienth herself, however, will receive something more along the lines of her patient and endearing nature.

Good job, Gaia, double postin'

Approved.

The only concern is the hint that she's working for "more powerful people" in blackmarket circles. We've got a lot of folks who smuggle goods and otherwise do questionable things, but we weren't sure who you were referring to? Or if that was just a way of noting she was actually touching on villainous deeds?

The more powerful the people, the more unpleasant her smuggling is going to get, and we would expect that to fit accordingly. So I'm talking about smuggling children and slave trade stuff, smuggling some very hardcore drugs, etc. And there is the possibility of getting caught.

Just wanted to make sure you're aware! :3 Otherwise, I'd just keep her a smuggler with a very fine reputation of getting the job done, and being popular among blackmarket circles. Or maybe she's just now getting offers from some of those higher up baddies and is in for a surprise.... Up to you! Just mostly wanted to give you an FYI!

Uta

Ahhh thank you very much for the info, Uta love! That is very useful to know. I feel that she might fit more into the category of having a fine reputation that's she's built up with perhaps the possibility of getting offers from some of the higher up baddies much more recently or will plot out some of that. I'll tweak that small little bit to reflect that decision for her!

Thank you <33333
