The sound of rustling paper could be heard in the room, as well as the smell of clove cigarettes. Besides that it was quiet in the room. Abel sat behind his desk, going over current accounting errors. He glanced up to look at his accountant who was knelt on the floor before his desk, sniveling and bleeding all over his carpet. Abel had no empathy for someone who was stealing from him. He had hired another accountant a few weeks ago to go over his books. Abel had been worried as profits were decreasing, but had no explanation for them. It seemed his current accountant, had been skimming the books and stealing from him.

He didn’t give second chances, nor would he allow an explanation. Abel had dismissed his accountant as he continued to lie to his face. He seeked to make an example of him, as he did to all those close to him, who would turn against him. Abel shuffled the papers on his desk, staking them. He moved stubbing out his cigarette in the ashtray. Abel stood moving around his desk, as he went toward the sniveling man on the floor in front of his desk.

Standing behind the male, he slipped his hands over his shoulders. Abel didn’t even have to think about the death of this man before him. He slipped a hand beneath his skin, as he quickly snapped his neck. Abel was not a fan of prolonging the torture after getting the answers he needed. He was however a fan of torture only when he could gain something from it. Dropping the male, toward the floor, he moved to step around him and open his door. Abel didn’t even have to look, he already knew Kieran was standing outside. ”Take care of him.” He spoke heading out of his office and toward his bedroom. Abel didn’t care what Kieran did with the body, as long as its stench was gone from his office.

It was nearing almost eleven at night. Abel needed a drink, he was beyond annoyed at the moment. He sighed as he went into his bedroom to change his clothes and grab a quick shower. The sight of blood in public would draw too many eyes. Abel removed his clothes, as he threw them in a hamper to be disposed of later. He went into his bathroom and turned on the light. His face was covered with a few specks of dried blood, and his knuckles ached a little. Abel flexed his hands, feeling the sting of them. He glanced knowing he bruised them up pretty good.

After a quick shower, Abel turned off the water. He got out out of the large walk in shower, as he grabbed a towel. Abel went about drying himself off before wrapping it around himself. He left the bathroom, heading toward his bedroom. Abel went straight to his walk-in closet, as he flicked on the light. He stepped into as he looked around, not sure what he wanted to wear. Something simple, but comforting. Abel finally picked out a gray knit sweater with black slacks. He knew the weather right now was a little chilly, but not over the top. Abel threw his towel in the hamper with his dirty clothes. He set his chosen clothes on the bed, as he went about gathering boxers and socks from his closet. Abel moved to his bed, as he started to get dressed.

It didn’t take long for him to get dressed, as he grabbed his steel toed boots from his closet. Abel pulled them on as he laced them up. He didn’t know what he what he would be doing tonight, but he was not into getting his toes stepped on. Once he was dressed, he left his bedroom turning off the light. Abel saw Kieran standing in the hallway, waiting for him. ”What are your plans for tonight?” Kieran asked wondering if he would be needed.

He shrugged at the question, as he beckoned him to follow. ”Not sure yet, but I need a drink.” Abel spoke heading toward the stairs. He could hear Kieran walking behind him. Abel stepped into the foyer after descending the stairs. He walked toward the door, tossing a set of keys toward Kieran who caught them. Abel heard a sigh behind him, knowing Kieran wanted nothing more than to go out by himself, but not tonight he needed him.

Sitting in the backseat of his lincoln continental, Abel looked over the messages on his phone while he past the time. He listened the faint sound of the radio playing in the car. Abel didn’t mind it, after all he knew Kieran would grow bored of the silence between them.

The drive to his favorite club wasn’t long. Abel could already see a lined wrapped around it as Kieran pulled up in front of it. He didn’t bother with waiting as Kieran came around to open his door. Abel dismissed him, as he went to the head of the line. He could already hear those around him, yelling not understanding why he went to the front. With a casual gaze toward the bouncer, he was let into the club. Abel could hear the thumping of music, as he walked down a hallway toward the main dance area.

Entering the main dance area, he crossed it heading toward the vip section. Abel felt hands grazing here and there. He batted them away, as he didn’t like the idea of being pawed at. Abel barely liked others touching him. He too was waved through into the vip section. Abel glanced around as he walked toward a couch. He saw other men around him, being catered to by a few of the waitresses. Abel had no need for a women, but he had to play the part however. He took a seat, as he fished out his pack of cigarettes from his pocket as well as his lighter. Abel pulled a cigarette out of the pack and slipped it between his lips. He cupped his hand over the end of the cigarette as he lit in. Abel inhaled deeply, letting the clove of the cigarette fill his lungs. He slipped a hand up pulling it from his lips, as he blew out smoke.

It didn’t take long before a waitress came to take his order. Abel looked her over, finding flaws in all the right places. He found that some women were beautiful, but they did nothing for him. Abel ordered himself a scotch, before the waitress turned to leave. He looked around the room, as he let his eyes explore the room, as he smoked his cigarette.

Smoke lingered and swirled through the air. In one corner of the room, four men sat around playing cards. In another corner, four more were crowded around the television watching some show he'd never heard of, and behind him he could the hushed voices. His boss had been in a meeting with his top men for nearly two hours now. Every now and then he would kept shouted swears and strings of threats. There was no telling who was being cursed this time. Yesterday it was the mailman, last week it was some rival boss, and before that was somebodies ex-girlfriend. He'd lost count of how many "enemies" they had. It would be foolish of him to even suggest that they might run out of enemies at the rate they were going. But he had to admit it seemed quiet these last few days.

His train of thought was cut short as the door beside him opened. He dared a glance as five tall and large men came out one by one. "Jakob, get in here!" Before Cornelius even said anything he knew it would be his turn. It was why he was out here, lingering in the doorway. He ignored the way every head in the room turned towards him with curious expressions. It wouldn't surprise him if half the men wondered just who the hell this "Jakob" person was. While the other tried to wrap their puny minds around why he was getting a private meeting with the big ol' boss man. Pushing off the way, he waited for the last man to exit before entering the room. "Shut the door." Cornelius ordered. Doing as he was told, he shut the door behind him, and coming to stand in the middle of the room.

Two hours passed as he was given his latest assignment. It was easy enough, keep out of sight, and don't kill anyone unless he was told otherwise. He was passed a manila envelope with a few photos and some basic information. If he wanted to know more, he was going to find out for himself. With a wave of the boss's hand was then dismissed. Taking the folder, Jakob turned on his heel, and left the room.

Outside of the office everyone had gone back to their previous activities. He suppressed a cough as the ungodly amount of smoke choked his lungs. Quickly moving through the common area, he made for the stairs and went up to his room, locking the door behind him. The room itself wasn't very big, nor was it the size of a closet. He kept only the essentials. Anything else could be bought or traded along the way. Padding over to his desk, he flipped on the lamp. He then tipped the envelope, and let the files slide out on to his desk. The pictures were simple snap shots, some were in better focus than others. All of them had one thing in common though, the man with tattoos.

Jakob skimmed the files and moved to change his clothes. If this man was to be his next target, he was going to need far more Intel. Stripping down to his boxers, he tossed the closes into the nearby hamper. Stepping front of his closet he pulled out a plain black button down shirt, got a pair of dark blue jeans from the dresser, as well as a clean pair of socks. He quickly dressed, sitting on the edge as he pulled on a pair of black Vans sneakers. There was no need for steel toes or any sort of armor. Tonight, he was simply observing. When he finished dressed, he hid away the items and turned out the lamp. He picked up his wallet and a maroon hoodie, and headed out the door.

He hardly ever drove himself. He found over the years he was no good at it. Not only that, it was far easier to escape on foot and lurk in the shadows than try to haul a** through the crowded streets. That wasn't to say he hadn't had a few close encounters, but still, he lived to tell the tale. Following the familiar path down the stairs and out the front door, no one said a word. He walked down the driveway and out on to the streets, following until he hit the main roads to grab a cab.

The club was one he wasn't at all familiar with. From the looks of it though, it must have been incredibly popular. A line at least a mile long ran along the building and around the side. He had been instructed to provide his bosses name and nothing more. After paying the driver he exited the cab and made a beeline for the front of the line. He paid no mind to the people yelling and telling him to get to the back of the line. The bouncer was an intimidating man, one if he tried hard enough he was sure could break him in half. The man gave him a once over before asking for a name. "König." was all he gave. The man gave him a curious look before letting him pass the velvet rope.

Inside music was thumping, bodies were thrashing, and the smell of smoke and alcohol were everywhere. Jakob squeezed his way through the pit and went to the end of the bar. His eyes scanned the areas nearest to him while also paying attention to his surrounding, as clearly no one else was.

Bodyguards were only for necessity. Abel could guard himself, but what would be the point. He liked the outward appearance of needing others, right until the point he didn’t. Abel had a few, but only Kieran really counted. He knew the man since he was a child, and had allowed him by his side. Kieran had been the son of his father’s mistress, so he saw him often. Abel considered him a friend, in a way. After all he didn't have many, if any.

It didn’t take long before the waitress returned with his drink. He took it from her as he took a gulp of it. Abel glanced to see the waitress still standing there, waiting for what was most likely a tip. He sneered at her, having no interest in tipping her for doing job. The girl, who was merely plastic with her fake tits and everything possible one to her face. She blinked her eyes pushing her boobs together a little more. Abel found it amusing to see her trying to get something from him, with those fake things. Sadly she wasn’t his type, or rather she was quite the opposite of what he liked.

He dismissed her as he continued to drink from his scotch. ”Off you go, and bring me another.” Abel spoke drinking the rest of the scotch, as he handed her back the glass. He watched as she scoffed surprised by his words. Abel didn’t even watch as she left heading back to the bar to fetch his drink.

The girl went back to the bar, in a fowl mood. She slammed the empty drink on the bar. ”Give me another scotch.” The female spoke toward the bartender who raised an eye at her, but took the glass. ”Something wrong Candy?” He asked, her by her stage name not by her real, after all who named their children candy. She looked at the bartender shaking her head, ”Just some jerk guy with tattoos in the vip area.” Candy spoke, as she waited for the drink. She wanted nothing more than to splash the drink in the guys face.

After getting her drink, Candy took it back to Abel in the vip area. She plastered on a smile, if it could be called that. Candy hated those who did not appreciate her or thought better of her. Abel caught Candy’s eye as she waded back through the vip area to him. He knew he had pissed her off, but he was not here to please anyone. Abel as merely here to enjoy himself, but not by oggle a stupid female.

Once he got his second drink, Abel dismissed the waitress again. If anything he hoped she would push another girl off on him, who had more brains than looks. He sipped his drink, now as he sat there. Abel slipped the cigarette between his lips, taking a puff from it before blowing out the smoke in the area around him. He got a few dirty looks but he didn’t care. Those who sat around him, didn’t have to stay. Abel looked around his eyes wandering toward the dance area. He watched as a few people danced, he found no interest in them. Abel wasn’t much of a mingler, he much preferred to be by himself and was content with that.

Unlike the man he was searching for, he didn't require bodyguards. Although Cornelius often suggested he try to bring someone along. Just for protection were his words. He didn't seem to understand that Jakob didn't need protecting. He was fine on his own, just as he always was. Besides, he worried how professional someone could if they tagged along with him. He was used to being alone, doing his own thing, and becoming one with the crowd. He wasn't sure if another person could do the same.

As he stood at the bar another five minutes, someone finally took notice of him.
"Can I get you something, hun?"asked a pretty female bartender"Vodka on the rocks." he replied just loud enough for her to hear. She nodded before moving behind the bar to grab a glass from the rack. Grabbing one of the bottles of vodka, she filled the glass, and brought it back to him. He picked up his glass and moved aside for the next person to order.

Jakob sipped his drink and continued to scan the club. There were so many people, it was almost uncomfortable. He hoped whoever ran this club was keeping count of patrons. It's be a shame if they got shut down by the fire marshal before he had a chance to even find the guy. As he stood there nursing his drink a waitress caught his eye. He watched from the corner of his eye as she seemed upset. This behavior did not really strike him as odd. There were bound to be a few rude customers every now and again. Especially on nights like tonight. He listened as hard as he possibly could over the loud music. What was said wasn't much. He craned his neck ever so slightly towards the vip section. All he could see were men behind yet another velvet rope. Anyone else he didn't have a good enough view of.

Finishing off the rest of his drink in one swig, he left the glass on the bar and moved into the crowd. Inwardly, Jakob cringed. He loathed being surrounded by people. The combined smell of booze and body odor was enough to make his stomach churn. He tried to move a bit further in to the crowd when he felt a hand on his arm. Turning around, he saw a young man just an inch or two shorter than him. He smiled pleasantly as the male invited him to dance. Normally he would ignore such advances, but he was close enough to the vip section that he figured he might catch a glimpse of the person he was looking for.

Stepping closer to the male, he placed his hands upon his hips, and moved to the music. They moved like lovers. Explicitly rubbing up against each other, fingers slipping beneath hemlines and waistbands. Jakob had no plans of doing anything with the man, but he enjoyed teasing him nonetheless. He found the man to be rather sensitive and easy to please. Which seemed to help him out as it was easier to distract him while he scanned the area surrounding him.

As he looked past the obvious body guards and club employees he thought he caught a glimpse of who all was back there. At one table he saw men in suits, drinking some dark liquid he could only assume was bourbon. And then a third man on a couch. From where he was standing it was hard to get a clear look at his face. If he nudged his dance partner to an area where he could see better it would only draw more attention to himself. Then again staring too long would also draw attention to himself. Turning his attention back to the man, he feigned interest. Whispering sweet nothings in his ear as his hands continued to feel him up.

After his first cigarette, Abel moved onto another. He hardly cared about the dirty looks he was given. Abel finished off his second glass of scotch. He relaxed as he sat there, knowing what awaited him when he got home. Abel just wanted a chance to be alone before he had to return to business. He let his eyes wander around the room. Nothing interested him yet. Abel didn’t expect it too however.

As he sat there, his eyes drifted a little. Abel watched as two men, started to dance. He took interest in them, but it didn’t show in his body language or his face. Abel watched the taller one of the two, the shorted one not catching his interest. He found him to be exotic almost in a way. Abel watched as the two danced soon drifting closer toward the vip section.

He could see the two dancing, touching each other, as if they were lovers. Abel knew they weren’t after all the taller one was only feigning interest. He found it amusing nonetheless. Abel stubbed his cigarette out in the ashtray. He moved to stand, stretching hearing certain bones shift and pop.

Abel walked toward the exit of the vip section. He moved past the rope, leading into the room. Abel continued toward the dance floor, as it was the only way out. He drifted toward the two men dancing, but not trying to seem obvious. Abel past behind the taller of the two, who caught his eye. He ran his hand over his back, trying to move around him but also to tempt himself. Abel let himself continue through the crowd heading toward the door.

The amount of eyes on him as he danced was uncomfortable. He ignored it as best he could without causing a scene. It was easy enough to guess what the people around them must be thinking. Some probably wanted a go at him after he was finished with his current partner. Others, probably assumed he was some sort of slut for dancing this way. And others held their opinions somewhere in the middle. Always judging, but never loud enough for him to hear. It was fine. He wouldn't be dancing this way if he wasn't expecting some sort of reaction.

The two danced as one, as the music became more intense. His hips were flush against the males buttocks as he would grind against him. He paid just enough attention to the male to keep him happy. But overall he didn't really care about him one way or another. He did not even know his name. A quick glance towards the vip section he noticed one of the men watching them. It was the man from the back. Still, from his current view point he could not see his face clearly.

Feeling the male nuzzling his neck, he turned his attention back to him. He placed a few chaste kisses here and there along the back of his neck just to keep him entertained. The song was starting to slow, drawing towards a close. Jakob closed his eyes he enjoyed the heat of the male against him. The hand on his pelvis could feel his half-hardened c**k, there was a slight tent in his shorts. But among so many people it was hardly noticeable. He teased the male mercilessly as someone stepped towards them. He just barely felt the hand on his back. Looking up, there he was. He didn't allow himself to stare long. Just enough to see his face.

As the music stopped there was a momentary silence. Jakob stepped away from his dance partner and looked up in time to see his target heading for the door. Feeling the male still pawing at him, he looked back, smiling sheepishly. He knew he had missed his chance. His only information was that his target had access to the vip section, and he liked to watch others. It wasn't much but it was a start. He wondered if he came back, would his target be here. Sighing inwardly, there wasn't much more he could do tonight. He allowed the male to take his hand and lead him off to a darkened corner. At least his trip wouldn't be completely wasted.

After heading toward the exit, Keiran was already waiting for him outside. Abel went to the back of the car, the door was opened. He settled inside, as he pulled his phone from his pocket. Abel went about his most recent texts. It wasn’t hard to believe that others were out to get him. He expected it in his line of work. Abel had, had numerous gang members send their best to kill him, only to receive them back in pieces.

There was always a new person wanted to establish and take his territory. He found it was entertaining to let them try. Abel held a large area in Chicago. It was not his home, but closest to it. He had moved from Manchester to Chicago, when he was about sixteen and moved up in the ranks to become his own boss. It had taken him years, but it was worth it. All it was took, was killing those who got in his way.

Abel could protect himself, but what would be the fun, if he didn’t have a bodyguard. It was merely a front, until someone got him alone. Abel didn’t go anywhere without Kieran. The man practically followed him everywhere, not out of fear but out of loyalty.

He had one last stop before going home. Abel did enjoy a little entertainment every now and then, but it was purely his own. In a way, he could be called a sadist. He enjoyed the pain from others. Few people knew he was gay, only those closest to him. Even a few of his men, didn’t know. After all he had to put on a front, otherwise he would get overthrown.

A short drive and he arrived at Le Poisson Rouge, it looked like a regular dancing and drinking club on the outside, until you went underneath where it had a different name, ‘Sanctuary.’ Kieran pulled around to the back, as he much preferred it instead of the front. Abel didn’t bother with waiting for Kieran to open his door. He stepped out shutting the door beside him. Abel directed Kieran to wait, after all he should only be a little while, as long as he found the right submissive.

Entering the back door, Abel could smell strawberries lingering in the air. He could also smell smoke mixed in. Abel continued down a hallway, where he was greeted by the owner Shantel, who he had met a few years back when her name was Shawn. ”Oh, Abel.! It’s good to see you. I haven’t seen you in weeks.” She spoke as she leaned over to kiss his cheek. Abel relaxed against her touch. He didn’t mind Shantel touching him, but any others would have bothered him. ”Oh, I know. I was passing by and thought I’d stop by.” He spoke nonchalant. Shantel laughed softly, ”I’m sure that’s what it was.” She teased, as she looped her arm around his and continued walking through the back heading toward a guarded door. ”Well, even if you are just visiting I have a new boy who is just in need of some perfect submission. He’s new, and hasn’t seemed to found his place yet. Although I think, he just needs a little coxing.” Shantel spoke rolling her eyes, as the guarded door was open. She lead Abel down another hallway, where screams of pain but also please could be heard. He took in some delight out of that, but continued walking. ”Oh, really? Why do you say that?” Abel asked curiously, but could already get a feeling for what Shantel was saying.

It happened a lot with people, some thought it was just a game to get their one time fulfillment out of, while in reality it was merely lifestyle. He had seen a few submissives who thought that they could handle what he dished out, but usually counted out in only five minutes. Abel found if they couldn’t handle him, then they couldn’t handle anyone. He usually never saw them here again.

Walking down a hallway, he let Shantel lead him, after all this was her domain. Abel could not order or discipline her. He glanced in a few rooms as they passed. A few were occupied while others aren't in use. They eventually made it toward a room, where a young male sat in, playing with his phone. Abel could already see one problem as he stood there. ”See problem child.” Shantel whispered gesturing as she rolled her eyes. ”I’ll take care of him.” Abel spoke withdrawing from Shantel, as he went into the room. He shut it behind him, as he smirked at Shantel. Abel turned his attention toward the young boy, who barely registered him.

Jakob lingered in the club long enough to get his fill of his dance partner. It came as little surprise to him to learn that the male was as limber off the dance floor as he was while on it. He enjoyed the sound of the males voice as he moaned and quivered beneath him. His voice echoed in the tiny stall, but he didn't mind. It was a club after all and it wasn't as though they were they only ones having fun. When he finished, he smiled pleasantly, cleaned himself off, and slipped out of the stall before the male could even find the strength to protest. Jakob walked out of the bathroom and made a beeline for the exit. He ignored the few grabbing hands and was careful not to purposely bump into anyone.

Outside, it was blessedly silent. Save for the low thumping bass from inside. Jakob looked around a bit. It came as no surprise at all to him that there was no sign of his mystery man. He thought about asking the bouncer though he hardly believed that he would tell him anything. He sighed and walked a short ways from the club before he was able to grab a cab. He was going to have to read over his files again when he got back. For now there was nothing he could do. He had no leads, no names, not even so much as a license number.

The ride back home was a short one. He stared out the windows, watching as the familiar streets and businesses passed him by. Soon pulling up to the boss's house, he paid the driver, and stepped out of the cab. He walked up the path, passing a few of the other guards who nodded to him in turn. Walking through the front door, he paused as he caught sight of the boss coming out of the office. "Jakob, you're back early." Cornelius noted. He thought of saying something, but knew that it was a rhetorical statement. He kept his eyes downcast as the man soon moved past him. "Let me know when you have something to report." was all he said before stepping out the front door.

When the door clicked shut behind him, he sighed with relief. Jakob did not fear many people. But he was very cautious of Cornelius. The man reminded him of a pitbull. Treat it right and he would treat you right as well. Piss him off and he could rip your throat out. Right now, he wasn't sure where he stood with the man, but if he wanted to keep his own throat in tact then it was best that he show him some results, and soon. Ignoring the rest of the men he raced upstairs to his room. He locked the door behind him so he wouldn't be disturbed and moved across the room to his desk. Tonight he had left that man slip away. Tomorrow, he planned on finding him again.

It didn’t take much to know who was able to become a submissive, while others were just a wannabe. Abel found the male before him was merely a wannabe. After shutting the door, he had walked up to him and snatched his phone from him. He got a serious backlash from that, watching as the male lunged at him. Abel grabbed him by the throat as he held onto him. He squeezed watching as the color drained from his face, until he passed out. Abel didn’t bother with setting him on the bed. No, he merely just released him to let him drop to the floor.

After about an hour and forty-five minutes, Abel stepped over the male, who was on the floor. Not dead, no just waiting. He opened the door as he didn’t bothering glancing back at the male. Abel left the room, heading to find Shantel. He her found, in her office. Shantel was sitting behind her desk with her legs up and opened. Abel didn’t have to be a mind reader to know what was going on. He could see a head from beneath the desk, moving between her legs.

Abel leaned in the doorway, not wanting to enter. He watched, finding it all the more appealing. Abel crossed his arms, as he waited. Not wanting to disturb her. Shantel knew Abel stood in the doorway, she never would invite him to play. They had tried once, but both were too dominant, it would never work out.

Once Shantel was done, she bid her minion out. Abel looked at the male who had been down on his knees. Not his type, but still what worked for one did not always work for the other. Shantel moved her legs down from off the desk, as she motioned for Abel to enter. He shifted off the wall, as he entered the room but did not sit. Abel moved to sit on the side of the desk, near her. ”And?!’ Shantel asked of him, already guessing but liked to hear details.

”You may keep him, but he may tire out.” Abel spoke as he sat there looking her over. He found her beautiful, but he would never admit it. It would only give into her delusion. Shantel knew what that meant, as she nodded. It meant that the boy would give in to easily to his desires instead of holding onto them. She would have to work on it, but it might just be easier to get rid of him. Shantel would take his words into consideration. ”Thank you.” She spoke reaching out to run a hand over his thigh. Shantel leaned back in her chair. Abel glanced down at her hand, as it rose higher. He knew she was tempting him, but it wasn’t going to happen.

Withdrawing, Shantel only pouted as Abel stood up to move around the desk. He walked toward the door, as he glanced back. ”I’ll take my leave now.” Abel spoke as he left heading toward the back door. He had no more time to waste. Abel made his way outside to see Kieran reading a magazine in the front of the car. He didn’t bother knocking on it, as he opened his own door himself. Abel relaxed in the seat, as he closed his eyes. ”Take me home.” He spoke as he didn’t bother to open his eyes to see if Kieran complied.

After a short drive back to his house, Kieran parked in the garage. He looked back at his boss, he didn’t bother to wake him knowing he wasn’t asleep. Kieran stopped the car, as he shut it off. He slipped out of the car, as he opened the back door. Abel opened his eyes to see they were back at his house. He moved to get out, as he entered his house through the side door.

Once inside, he made his way through the house. Abel could feel his stomach growling as he hadn’t eaten all night. He had a few left over pieces of pizza in the fridge from the night before. Abel went into the kitchen turning on the lights. He opened the fridge grabbing out the box of pizza. Abel took a slice out, as he munched on it as he stood there.

Standing there he heard movement, knowing it was Kieran upstairs. Abel finished up his late dinner, as he went upstairs himself. He walked into his bedroom, not bothering with the lights. Abel kicked off his shoes near his closet, as he moved to toss his sweater in the hamper, along with his pants. He went toward his bed, pulling back the covers. Abel slipped into the bed, as he laid there. He wasn’t all that tired, but his mind was abuzz with tonight's events. Abel let his mind wander to the male from the club, there was something about him that was off, but he tried not to let it bother him as he started to drift off to sleep.

Jakob had always been a tad meticulous when it came to his marks. He was always the sort of person to want to know everything. Names, dates, phone numbers, relatives, ethnic backgrounds, friends, every single connection he could possibly think of. Standing between his cork and desk, he worked on multiple lists. He had read and reread all of the files that had been given to him. He picked out little things, saw patterns most people would miss. Within an hour he had halfway filled it into some beautiful mind combination. Tacks and strings lined the board with connections that only made sense to him. It was so little to go on, and yet so much.

Taking a step back, he smiled maniacally at his work. Cornelius would have a field day when he saw this. It was only a mater of time before he was able to fill it up completely. Turning to the computer, Jakob sat the desk and took his searches to the dark web. Tying in his marks' name gave him a lot of results. Hidden beneath the veil of the clear web were amateur articles. Many starring headlines with the words "crime boss" and "mafia". It wasn't surprising that his mark would hold such a high position. They usually did. Cornelius didn't have time for some no-name wannabe crime lord. Not when the real deal was after his a** on a daily basis.

He had to wonder though. What was so special about this man that Cornelius wanted him gone? In his view, he didn't seem worth that much trouble. Sure it was annoying how fast he came to power. But there were plenty of guys out there like that. They took what they wanted and let no one stand in their way. Jakob allowed his curiosity to roam across a few message boards. There he found people claiming to know this man personally, others talking about how much they hated him, and others who just wanted to ******** him. It was all nonsense really. Nothing to make much of note or really add to his investigation. Closing out of the forum, he sighed. He looked down at the papers and back at the screen. It was getting late. He'd done enough for now.

Closing out of the dark web, Jakob shut down his computer and carefully hid away his files. While he trusted the other men well enough, he didn't want to leave the papers out unnecessarily. Stripping out of all of his clothes, he turned out the lights and padded over to the bed. Pulling back the covers, he slipped in between the sheets and rolled to his side. He allowed his mind to play back to the various scenes from the club and with his dance partner. It hadn't been an entire waste of a night. But if he was going to get results, he was going to have to work harder. Closing his eyes he soon drifted.

The next morning, Jakob awoke a little around seven in the morning. It was still early enough that the house was quiet. But late enough that he needed to get a move on to his day. Swinging his legs over the side, he sat there as he stretched his tired limbs and stood up. He yawned widely as he grabbed his towel that hung over the door as well as his bag of toiletries. Unlocking his door, he crossed the hallway and went into the communal bathroom. Locking the door behind him, he went about his morning needs before turning to the shower and turning the handles. The water bursts out of the head as someone had once again forgotten to change the setting back on the shower head. Reaching up, he switched it to something softer and wouldn't rip his skin off. Once the water was warm enough, he slipped under the water along with his things and began to wash up.

His shower took all of thirty minutes. Jakob had always been a bit of a slow riser. But once he was more awake, he had no trouble with the rest of the day. He washed and scrubbed everything, kicking himself for not cleaning up after sleeping with that harlot from the club. When he finished, he turned off the water and stepped out of the water. He dried off quickly and crossed the hall back into his bedroom. The house was still quiet, but he wanted to hurry anyways. He dressed in black skinny jeans and a plain white v-neck t-shirt. Pulling on a pair of black boots, and collected his phone, wallet, and keys. His plan was to grab some coffee, maybe a scone, and then walk around the neighborhood, see what he found. He wouldn't ask too many questions, nor would he linger long enough for others to question him.

With that in mind, he stepped out the door and went downstairs. He quietly disarmed and rearmed the alarms as he made his way outside. Crossing the lawn, he jogged a little up the street before hailing a cab to the local coffee house. The ride over took all of ten minutes. Already there was a nice line formed inside. Jakob took his place behind an elder man and looked over the menu to read the specials.

It was already eleven in the afternoon before Abel awoke. He was not a morning person. Abel believed that the morning never did him any good. He functioned better in the late morning well into the afternoon. Last night hadn’t been too busy, so he hadn’t slept as long as he normally would. Rolling the bed, he could hear movement downstairs. Abel checked his clock to see the time. His only guess it was Kieran or Rosalina his maid. However she only came about twice a week, anymore than that and she would charge him double.

As he lay there, the idea of getting up did not thrill him. Abel yawned, as he continued to hear movement throughout the house. Next came the sound of the vacuum. He knew he couldn’t sleep anymore with that sound a few rooms down. Abel shifted as he pushed his blankets off of his body. Stretching, he moved to head into the bathroom to take care of his morning needs.

Once down inside the bathroom, Abel moved downstairs. He walked into the kitchen to see Kieran already awake eating breakfast and drinking coffee. Abel did not like coffee, let alone the smell of it. He found it was almost sickly sweet. Abel made his way toward the cabinet pulling out a cup then went to the fridge. He pulled out he bottle of orange juice, pouring himself a glass. Abel stood there as he took a sip, leaning against the counter.

Today he had to look into a few clients of his, who had borrowed some money from him. Abel had to collect on their debts, as a few hadn’t paid in a couple weeks. It did not bode well to not pay Abel. When it came to loan sharking, as part of his daily business. He expected payment, those who didn’t pay, usually lost things. Not their lives, after all the dead couldn’t pay. Abel made them pay with loved ones, friends, and even limbs.

He would take Kieran with him as back up, but he was merely just the figurative muscle. Abel never fought his clients, at least not in public or in front of prying eyes. He sipped on his orange juice as he stood there. Abel went out the few people he needed to see today as he stood there. The idea of breakfast, did not sound exciting. Perhaps he would get something to eat later after doing business.

Jakob had always been something of a morning person. He loved the quietness of the sunrise. It was a time when there was hardly a soul around and he could truly be at peace with himself. It didn't matter if he was just another face in the crowd or part of a gang. He didn't have to worry if he was going after a mark or the mark was coming after him. As he stood in line, he looked over the menu a few times while the people in front of him shuffled forward. He was something of a regular here and ordered the same two items every time. A few minutes passed and soon it was his turn. He ordered a vanilla latte with a blueberry muffin. Taking out his wallet he paid in cash, never card. He didn't even own one.

He took his receipt and stepped off to the side with the small crowd of other people waiting. As he stood there he couldn't help looking around. From what he learned he doubted his mark would be there. Almost everything he found out about him so far indicated he did most of his work in the dark. If that was the case it wasn't too surprising. After all, he didn't need someone seeing him sinning in broad daylight. He sighed a little as he did not see the man. As he stood there, one by one the orders were filled and he was called up next. He took his items and moved towards one of the seats by the window. He watched as the many people came and gone. Some of them looked to be business types off to work, others were obvious students in their uniforms. Jakob took his time eating. He loved the taste of the fresh blueberry's. Paired with his latte he was in quite a good.

When he finished his breakfast, he wandered around the neighbor both for work and pleasure. He browsed his favorite shops and tried to memorize what was where if he ever needed to find it again. Before he realized the morning had escaped him and it was already past eleven o'clock. He followed the winding streets, not really paying attention to where he was going. Not that it mattered much. He knew the city like the back of his hand. So long as he kept his nose clean he would be fine.

Having walked nearly all of his breakfast off, he was starting to get hungry again. Jakob wondered around the neighborhood some more in search of something to eat. He passed many cafes and various chains. But none of them appealed to him. As he walked a bit further he came across a sushi shop. Deciding to have lunch there, he walked in and was soon seated. He took a seat at a table near the back and was given a menu. Thanking the hostess, he looked over the various items. His stomach growling as he read them all. It wasn't long before he was interrupted by a waitress, he ordered himself water as well as gyoza and a plate of California rolls. He handed back the menu as the woman wrote down his order. While he waited, he took out his phone just to have something to do. Hopefully he could find out more about the man after lunch.

The day progressed just as fast. Abel had dealt with a few clients. Though had a tough time with one. This one he did not allow Kieran to deal with as he usually would have. Abel had been playing games with this man for two weeks and he was merely just tired of it. He returned to the vehicle as Kieran sat waiting. Abel clenched his first, as he walked down to the car. He could tell a few bones in his hand were broken but he didn’t let it bother him. It was nothing new to him. Abel had taken a few survivors with him back to the car. He held a few fingers plus a few grand. Abel did not do well with those who lied to him nor would he give them a chance to do it again.

Getting back into his car, Abel closed the door behind him not bothering with waiting for Kieran. He sat in the back, as he directed him to find something for him to eat. At the moment he hardly cared what it was. Abel was just hungry and in need of some lunch/breakfast.

After a short drive, Kieran pulled up at a sushi place. He knew it wasn’t Abel’s favorite but it worked for him. Once the car was parked, he slipped out of the car. Abel walked with Kieran inside. Looking around, he choose a place in the back away from windows. He didn’t need to get himself shot by sitting front of a window out in the open. Abel took a seat, as Kieran took a seat across from him. He glanced around as he picked up a menu. Abel didn’t think too much about the place or those inside it.
