Despite the (albeit short) amount of time she has lived here, Xing still found herself nervous about her surroundings. Which... seemed ridiculous to her. No one here bore her any ill will, she wasn't living somewhere with very many dangers, and she wouldn't have chosen to settle down somewhere if she hadn't found a place to call home. Perhaps it was habit by now. A habit that she wished to break.
So it was that she found herself wandering off on her own, even without her partner, Yu. The little bird had been thrilled (and exaggeratedly shocked) that Xing had been the one to choose to do this, and had encouraged her leading up to today. Of course, he was a very little bird, and she idly wondered if he was still keeping watch high up above the clouds. (she was not wrong)
With a deep breath, the lioness made her way further into the valley. It was far from her clan, but would hopefully lead to something for her to hunt.

Nitis was quite the opposite. He thought his pride was a little too lax.The dark male with the blond mane stretched himself in this early morning, soaking it up to warm himself. It wasn't that it was cold, but the air was a little cooler and Nitis preferred the heat of the day.
His white paws dug into the earth as he stretched out his back legs and then snorted when he heard squealing cubs. With all the clans gathered like this, there were more lions and cubs than he was honestly comfortable with gathered in one place. Not that he hated anyone, but he liked smaller gatherings. It made him feel more at peace. Like he could eventually have one on one time with most, if not all the group.
Ah well. He was up to hunt this morning, and he wasn't going to waste it. As he headed to the valley, the grass wet with dew under his paws, Nitis found himself a good spot on a warm rock and sat down on it, waiting on the others.

She shot a glance up above her, wanting to see if she could spot any familiar yellow feathers way up high, but alas, the few birds here were tiny specks from down below. With a sigh, the yellow lioness turned her gaze back down in front of her.
Then she froze as she noticed someone nearby, right in the place she was going to start hunting. Her ears pulled back against her head, and Xingyun looked awkwardly down at her feet. Okay, maybe a tiny part of her had hoped that no one would show up for hunting today, considering the mass gathering going on, but she supposed that becoming used to her pride meant interacting with others of her own accord.
Taking a deep breath, the huntress pushed herself forward before timidly saying, "Good morning...."

Xing bit at her lip, unsure now that she had run into someone and couldn't make up an excuse to flee. Come on, Xingyun, these are your pride mates, you need to actually make friends! But god if it wasn't so difficult after having been a rogue for so long.
Now she sort of wished that she'd brought Yu with her, despite the fact that he would never have let her live it down.
Finally, she gave a shaky nod, "Y-yes." She cleared her throat, speaking a bit louder now, "Yes... I've never really hunted in a group before, so... I figured I'd best start learning now." She tried to ignore the fact that she'd been hoping to hunt on her own. Let's pretend that she did this on purpose.

She supposed he had a point? The young tended to be more carefree, and she didn't fault them for being behind the others, but, well, they still needed to hunt, and.... she was starting to go off on a tangent in her head now.
Luckily, he had turned to look around them while she was distracted, and she caught his next sentence as she zoned back in.
With a nod, Xing glanced at the floor before taking a few precise footsteps to sit down in a relatively pebble-free spot, and then looked back up to see what he was going to do. He might not have meant that she literally should stay back, but she took it as such. For now, anyway. She would probably have to get out there herself eventually.
Besides, being able to watch was much more preferable to having to show her skills... and messing up in front of others.
