Village tab Hidden tab in tab the tab Heart

______________A r e a tab D e s c r i p t i o n ||
tab Known as the Village Hidden in the Heart, Kokorogakure lay situated above the enormous pit once known as the Heart of the Land. Now, trees have been cut back several hundred yards with a stone wall, crafted through Chakra and nearly thirty feet thick and one hundred feet high, surrounding the perimeter. Four gates are built within the circumference, each with a second and third gate behind it within the single, long corridor to enter the city proper. These gates are made of natural stone with steel hinges, and are likely the first and most imposing sight any visit would see as the roads lead up to them. Above it all stands an enormous tower nearly two hundred feet high, made of grey stone and wooden platforms. From the top lay a standard, a flag bearing the symbol of the village, a heart with a stone wall around it and an enormous tree in the background. Below, within the walls and around the tower lay many buildings and structures, shops for crafting and selling goods or libraries filled with knowledge. Yet these are all forward facing establishments, meant for visitors. As such, many believe that it is within the tower that the true Kokorogakure lay, overlooking the fields of craps that surround the walls, but the reality and truth are very different.
tab This is because Kokorogakure proper, the homes of the people and the training locations for their people, lay below the earth.
tab As mentioned prior this city lay atop a pit that existed before it, where a monstrous skeleton lay midst pits of tar and oil. This enormous pit is where the majority of the village lives. The tower stretches from above straight down to a dome which covers the pits of tar and oil. However, around this large structure is where the academy is built, where the homes of the different members of the city lay. The entrance to this place is hidden within several different homes above, each hidden in different ways so as to disguise.
tab What then of the tower?
tab For more information please see each individual thread below.

______________P o i n t s tab O f tab I n t e r e s t ||
tab Watcher’s PointAlso known as the Tower, this serves as the office of the Kokorokage, with the floors beneath serving as meeting grounds and communication hubs for conversation and negotiation, and watch tower for those who awaken in need. The first fifteen floors, of twenty, can be used by the public with many floors having several rooms each. It is the top floors that are reserved for the Kokorokage, and are heavily protected as such.
tab Market DistrictThe only part of the city seen by anyone who visits, the Market District is made from wooden beams and thatch roofs to form buildings stacked on top of one another with bridges and stairs leading to multiple shops and places of relaxation. Here trade occurs between different species and nations while they rest within the inns and taverns that dot the place. Here is where the majority of roleplay will take place with visitors from other locations.
tab Civilian DistrictUnderneath the thick foundations of Kokorogakure lay the true living commons of the civilians. Hidden behind a myriad of hidden doors and structures the hidden tunnels lead down to the stairs that circle the titanic pit where the villagers have built homes out of the walls and in the large number of skeletons that remain. At the center of the Civilian District is a stone dome that covers the oil and tar pits that lead in a chute up to the tower above, with a few sealed entrances below for access when needed. Here the skeleton of a titanic beasts rests against the north way in a hemisphere that has been redesigned and transformed into an Academy, known as the Academy District. It is here that the Mist Wraiths, resurrected from the days of Kirigakure no Sato, keep the peace and ensure that no one from above who does not beat a Sigil will be ejected or arrested.
tab Academy DistrictBuilt within the remains of some nightmarishly large beast’s skeleton the Academy district is built around a courtyard where battles are incredibly common. Within the academy lay all of the scrolls, videos, and holograms gathered by scouts and researchers to increase the availability to young folk to learn defense and offense. Only those with an amulet can enter, with anyone else will be arrested by the Mist Wraiths. It is split into five floors, each for a different level of learning, while the lowest floor is able to be accessed by anyone with an Amulet to learn any of the knowledge kept there.

______________D e f e n s e s // D a n g e r s ||
tab • Mist Wraiths → A group of trained shinobi and civilians who make up the police force of Kokorogakure, marked by a cloak with tassels and a small metal badge with the motif of eyes in a cloud representing mist. Each receives training in one of the primary classes (Ninjutsu, Genjutsu, Bukijutsu, Taijutsu) along with another class once they are strong enough. Split into groups of three the Wraiths police both above and below where they enforce the laws and the peace in equal measure and with equal prejudice. Those captured are brought to the Watcher’s Point where they are placed within a cell partially submerged in Tar to hold the individual in place. What makes them so dangerous is their lack of oversight. They answer only to the Kokorogake and no other unless expressly told to, such as following the Consul of War, Baranara. They are brutal, efficient, and ensure that others obey the laws through any means necessary.
tab • Watcher’s Point → The Kokorokage’s personal office lay at the top, sure, but that isn’t the only job this tower serves. In its base, what would be marked as three floors below the base, there are pits of oil and tar that act as prison cells for prisoners. Placed within the tar up to their knees the tar holds them in place within the cell until a decision is reached on what is to be done with them. These doors are small, difficult to differentiate between decoration and functional doorway, and locked with Fuinjutsu to allow only those with a Mist Wraith badge to enter. Anyone else raises alarms.
tab • Walls → The great walls that surround the village were molded from the earth with Jutsu. The Iron was hammered into shape by the artisans of the village while the locks for the gates within it were crafted by the greatest artisans the village has to offer (understandably not masterwork). Three gates per entrance, a total of twelve that are several feet thick each. Gates made from wood gathered from nearby forests to ensure only those desired may enter. To scale them is difficult, given their width as mentioned above, and with patrols running often across the top it overall makes bypassing them easier said than done.

______________R u l e s // L a w s ||
tab • Thou Shalt Not Steal → Punishment is severing of an offending limb to varying lengths, depending on the severity of the theft.
tab • Thou Shalt Obey → Order gives by superior officers are to be obeyed for they are meant for the furthering of public safety and wellbeing. It isn’t often an official order will come, so when it does obedience is expected. Disobeying will result in public whipping and/or banishment.
tab • Lawful Entry → Every member of Kokorogakure will have a tattoo upon their body that signifies they are meant to be where they are. Each Tattoo is standardized, with every Experience Rank denoted with the associated level of learning (genin, chuunin, etc). Replication of these tattoos for the intent of entering a location illegally will result in imprisonment, public whipping, and depending on actions taken or the intentions, potentially being put to death.
tab • Do Unto Others → There are many laws, rules, and regulations of the Old World that were considered common by societal standards. The Kokorokage does not feel the need to list them all, now punishments for each, and so has created this rule. If a complaint is made, or something terrible done by societal standards, the offender will face Public Whipping, Imprisonment, Death, or the final punishment: Do Unto Others. This punishment is to have done unto you whatever crime you committed. Rape is met with Rape, broken bones by broken bones, etc.

______________R e s o u r c e s ||
tab • Oil → 120 // 120 ► Found in the Pit beneath the village.
tab • Tar → 120 // 120 ► Found in the Pit beneath the village.
tab • Black Clay → 200 // 200 ► Found nearly everywhere if you simply dig near the rivers.
tab • Green Jellies → 100 // 100 ► Made of Wood Chakra, or Mokuton, Green Jellies grow naturally on the Cypress trees situated around Kokorogakure. However, they do not replenish nearly as fast, indicating they are an invasive species instead of a naturally occurring one.
tab • Cypress Trees → 250 // 250 ► Naturally occurring they grow nearly everywhere, though these have leaves that are a mix of blue and purple upon white-streaked trunks.
tab • Fish → 200 // 200 ► A variety of fish of varying species, none worth of note. Mostly trout and salmon, with some bluegills mixed in. Due to their location these fish are all Fresh Water fish.
tab • Iron Mine → 400 // 400
tab • Tin Mine → 400 // 400

The village where love and sunshine and learning

Kagerou smiled up at the large sign, slightly bemused. "A little tacky, but welcoming enough," she commented regarding the message and... design.

Since settling certain initial matters in Fire Country and then travelling all the way here to what was formerly Water Country, several months had passed, and Kagerou had grown quite a bit in the few months, just as she had predicted. At first, it made her excited because she thought that she'd be catching up to Shadow in height in no time. That is, until one day she noticed that he'd also grown a little bit. Not as much as she had, but growth is still growth, and if she was to assume she was about the same height as in her last life... and then compared her height to Shadow's, then... Nope! She wasn't going to give up hope yet!

Honestly, Kagerou's envy over Shadow's height, something that even the envious one didn't really take seriously, was about the biggest problem the trio had encountered this trip.

Okay, there were the monsters, the never ending search for food and shelter, occasionally what Kagerou suspected was the undead, stumbles into a surprising number of dungeons and tombs and long lost springs and whatnot that led to finding dangerous artifacts, and not so friendly fellow awakeners. However, those problems had been expected... and honestly, Kagerou was more afraid of what Takeda would do to those problems than vice versa. Perhaps most importantly, they were all challenges that Kagerou knew they would be able to overcome the stronger they grew.

You know, unlike this constant game of catch-up her height was having with Shadow's.

Did I also mention that Kagerou found it unfair that Takeda was also so much taller than her? Like, he had always been a little taller, if not more, so it wasn't like Kagerou knew what she was missing, but somehow, being so much smaller than both of them made Kagerou feel like she was a kid... which she was, but even more so, and she understood the hit that her nagging took if she didn't have the bearing to back it up.

All of this was why Kagerou's first priority--well, personal priority as she sensibly held the team priority of barter for food and supplies above that--in this village was to find a measuring stick. Sure, this small grief of her's wasn't terribly important, but it was lighthearted, and this story could use some light hearts.

No Hesrik. Not those kinds of hearts. You stay far, far away.

Good luck when you wake up and realize all that you've lost. xxxxxxxxxx Shining lies are what you're made of. I hope it's worth the price that it costs.

[x] The village of love and sunshine and learning. While Kagerou to my side smiled broadly, I scowled at the strange welcoming. She thought little of it apparently, but to me it smelled fishy. After all, little over the last three months had been so... uncomfortably bright. Tacky, as she called it. I gave a derisive sniff and pulled my gaze away from the sign, looking at the not-quite-so-welcoming guards that stood between us and the path into the town.

Don't get me wrong, I was happy, to an extent, to see some form of civilization. We'd off and on seen other people, an uncomfortable number of whom weren't even human, but the journey to that point had been a struggle. We had to hunt for our own food, and I was fairly certain I had a permanent crick in my neck from sleeping on the ground. You know, for those rare occasions I actually did sleep. The threat of monsters and undead loomed ceaselessly and that didn't help my insomnia. I never 'mentioned' it to Kagerou, but I was sure she'd noticed the dark circles and frequent yawning. If I was looking forward to anything, it was the thought that maybe we would get to sleep on mattresses that night.

On the other hand, three months out in the wilderness had served some good in regaining lost skills, including my ability to track and hunt. My senses felt sharper, though part of me wondered if my other senses were compensating for the blurry vision of my right eye. Well not blurry, but...fuzzy? Regardless, those skills had helped quite a bit in helping us survived. At least that's what I liked to believe. That aside, I'd gotten a bit taller, and Kagerou forced me to pull my hair out of my face when I refused to cut it--she figured I should make myself look at least somewhat civilized--, but I'd still adamantly refused to look at myself in a reflection or talk about the 'implant' she had mentioned even though I already knew what I would find there. I supposed I was afraid of what I might remember if I did see it. Speaking of 'talk', that was another thing that still hadn't happened. I still couldn't bring myself to say anything despite willing myself to.

We'd left the small outpost we'd created behind and chosen to try to find our former home in Mizu no Kuni. Our actual objective in returning to the Water Country was both unclear and unspoken. I think we all knew what we were looking for, but we weren't exactly sure what we planned to find. So far it had been a transformed landscape, less water and plenty of mud. The mists were still there, though, and every now and then we caught sight of both the massive earthen walls that once surrounded Kirigakure and even bigger Sero tree standing at its heart. Which is what led us to where we were.

Glancing at Kagerou again, I shifted back a half step to let her lead the way and speak to the guards if she chose. There was definitely something disconcerting about the place that forced me to settle my metal hand over the string of the bow slung over my shoulder. Maybe it was the dark, two-hundred or so foot tall tower looming above us beyond the overly friendly sign.

Techniques Used:
✤ [Prepared] Sumi Yusou no Jutsu [Ink Transport Technique] - C
The user writes "transport" on a piece of paper with chakra-infused ink. The user then places it wherever they would like to transport to, be it a location or on a specific person, such as an opponent's back. By concentrating a small amount of Chakra, the can transport to the paper's location, for purposes such as to silently attack an opponent or to reveal to their comrades the enemies location.

GREY xxxxx
The forest went on for what felt like forever, much like every other setting Grey had found herself in. From the snowy mountains from her initial reawakening to her current predicament, there was nothing but untamed nature. That's not to say she didn't like it however; in fact if was quite the opposite. Even though Grey grew up at the technological height of the world, there was something about the reclamation of the natural world that played to the girl's animalistic side.

Just as Grey began to find herself lost in the serenity of her surroundings, the soothing spell was suddenly broken by a quick rush of wind. The young fox's eyes slammed shut as she lifted her hand to her cheek in an attempt to keep her fluttering hair out of her face. Light filled the girl's eyes as she slowly opened them, revealing the sudden change in scenery. The tree line had suddenly vanished, making way to a barren field that stretched almost as far as she could see; the only thing stopping the plain's advance was a towering mount of stones that stretched as equally far along the horizon.

Hmm... a wall? Something was off about this. The wall looked structurally sound. There was no signs of aging, reclamation of the elements, nor any signs of neglect; in fact, it looked like it was kept under regular maintenance. Naturally, this meant one thing: People. Grey's ears flattened against her head and her eyes narrowed, focusing on the world around her with intent. Her stance lowered to the ground and she gripped at her right arm, now wrapped in cloth to hide the myriad of scars beneath. She wouldn't be caught off guard this time.

Grey slowly began her patrol of the wall, sticking close to the towering mass of stone as close as she could while doing her best to keep silent. After several minutes of hasted walking, Grey found herself overlooking a pair of people standing before a sign. Travelers? Denizens of the city that surely lie within? Information was needed. For now, Grey would do her best to stay hidden; to keep out of sight. All the while, she'd watch the pair closely to see what she could gather about the situation.

User ImageOblivious to the hidden presence off to the side, her concern focused instead on the gate guards in front of her and their body signals, Kagerou understood Shadow's cue and moved forwards. Amiable as always, she inquired, "Good afternoon. My companion and I have traveled from rather far away, and we were wondering if we could restock and rest for awhile here." Her red eyes stared straight into the eyes of the guards, noting that they, too, were young. There was a pattern here. Not a single human soul appeared to have come back over the age of 16. Her green hair swayed with her steps forwards before resting behind her back. She'd tried her best to keep herself looking tidy, but weeks spent living outside had definitely left their mark on her appearance.

Kagerou had no qualms sleeping outside, and in fact the cautious part of her would prefer to sleep outside rather than within these strange city gates. However, she knew that Shadow often had difficulty sleeping. Though she wasn't sure how much a proper bed would do, it was always worth a shot. These past few months, she had really been relying on him too much. The growth of Shadow's skills was a testament to his constant efforts. Kagerou, meanwhile, had pretty much stagnated, and that, too, was a testament to her... well... lack of usability. Perhaps that was a good thing, though. It meant, indirectly, that Shadow and Takeda hadn't gotten hurt much.

_________________|| Thou Shalt Not Pass
Many things had the guard seen in the last few months, and many more were likely to come about that would scare his socks off and put him in a coma. Seeing two dirty travelers wasn't going to cut it, though. So when they showed up he couldn't help but feel a bit on the bored side. When was something neat gonna happen? Something exciting, something that was going to allow him to use his cudgel with all the might of a true warrior, neh? Shaking his head slightly to clear out the delusions of grandeur, the short, muscular guard named Akaho didn't exactly seem like he was doing much more than lounging about. From his slouched body and the lack of grip on his weapon he was clearly someone who either didn't take his job seriously or was just really s**t at it. Possibly both.
tab Then his eyes alighted on Kagerou as she adjusted herself, and suddenly he wasn't so certain of anything other than standing erect, back straight, and grip firm on his musty club.
tab It took him an extra moment of staring like a dunce before Akaho stuttered out a response as he fumbled at his waist under his leather. "Y-y-yeah, of course! All y-you n-n-need is a stamp of ap-p-p-proval and you're g-g-good to go!"
tab Nailed it!
tab Withdrawing a hand he lifted up a tube that would be incredibly familiar to the two who stood by, for it looked incredibly similar to the stamps the old Mist Wraiths used to use within Kirigakure when visitors approached. Too, as he adjusted his armor the symbol of the mist wraith, the ancient symbol of Kirigakure within a swirling mass of darkness, showed quite prominently upon the badge on the left side of his chest. He unscrewed the cap to the stamp and held out his other hand, balancing the club against his hip. "Here, just need your hand and I can mark you for entry!"

GREY xxxxx
This was the perfect opportunity for Grey to seize upon; the guard was distracted by the two people standing before him as well as whatever stupor he had previously been enthralled in before their approach broke the spell. Now, Grey could simply sneak into the city, explore around a bit and pick up some supplies, and be back out in the wilds before anyone could cause her any trouble. Still relatively unnoticed, Grey flashed a quick handseal and cast a genjutsu over herself that caused her to fade out of sight. Of course she wasn't completely invisible; an eagle-eyed viewer would be able to spot a tell-tale shimmer, but it would certainly be enough to get past the oaf that stood watch over the gate. Now concealed, Grey would slowly approach the pair of travelers and the gate guard, doing her best to weasel her way through the grouping and make it into the village.

User ImageQuizzically, Kagerou tilted her head at the guard's sudden change before realizing what must have happened. She held back most of her laughter, only letting a short, "Hmhm~" escape through her curved lips.

The lightly playful look receded when Kagerou saw the familiar tube. Her smile didn't leave, but her eyes sharpened as they attentively looked at the stamper. "This stamp..." her eyes caught sight of the symbol, "By any chance, will this stamp be the pass that gives us entry to the areas in the village open to visitors?".

[x]Senses alert more out of habit than anything, my gaze swept around us as Kagerou approached the guard, though I kept watch on them out of the corner of my eye. The blonde-haired guard was short but had a good amount of muscle on him, which helped him look the part where his age left him lacking in, well... intimidation. Just like everyone else we had encountered thus far, he was no older than sixteen. Actually that was my best guess of his age, too. Given the kid's stance, his slouch and his nonchalant gaze, not a whole lot happened around there, which helped relieve some of my caution. It was either that or he was too lazy to care about what happened, which I doubted to a degree given the jolt of disappointment he seemed to give off.

The interaction started fine, but the teenage boy was evidently uncomfortable with the presence of the opposite sex and couldn't speak without stuttering. Though I supposed that was still an improvement over my situation, seeing as I couldn't speak at all. At the very least he was trying to sound confident in Kagerou's presence even if he failed terribly. Kagerou grinned in response, and I could tell she was trying not to laugh. Losing interest, my gaze drifted away again briefly.

That was probably the only reason I spotted anyone else trying to get in through the gates. The only reason I noticed was thanks to a distortion in the air and the scent of... sweat? And the general musty smell humans gave off in the first place. And was that the smell of dog, too? Something similar to it at least, but that could have been from anywhere. It was of no consequence to me as long as it didn't get us in trouble, and given how faint the trace of them was, no one had a reason to believe that I had seen them. Except maybe Kagerou, who had an idea of the extent of my senses after travelling together for three months. My attention moved on, sweeping past the figure as if I hadn't seen anything. There was no way the kid acting as a guard was going to notice the figure, especially with his focus on figuring out how to speak to a female, or even if my demeanor had changed at all at the sight of someone trying to sneak by. Because to be quite honest I didn't care.

What I did care about, though, was the subtle change in Kagerou's tone that pulled my eyes back to the pair. Nothing had changed about the guard, so it was something concerning purely on her side. Brow furrowing slightly, I stared down the boy until I found what she had seen. The first but less important--potentially--was the stamp he held in his hand. It was the same that visitors received upon entering Kirigakure. Secondly was the badge on his breast, and the symbol upon it. The armor of the Mist Wraiths was lost with time, but seeing as their establishment wasn't all that long ago in my memory, that crest was something I was very familiar with. Especially from when they got in the way of things I needed to do. Had Kiri's culture really carried on for this long, or... who the hell was running this place? I was almost afraid of the answer to that. But, no. It couldn't have been Jack. The whole structure wasn't very Jack-like. He was determined to keep Kirigakure on the Sero, regardless of the dangers. Otherwise we would have just moved the entire village after it was flooded. Unless something was physically stopping him from going back there.

Besides which, this wasn't Kiri.

I shoved the thoughts back and stepped forward to receive a stamp alongside Kagerou as she inquired about it.

tab Staring with only slightly parted lips, only marginally looking like a hippo struck with lightning at least thirty times, Akaho nodded slowly to Kagerou before he turned it up a notch and nodded like a man with a seizure. However he stopped when he noticed Shadow's approach and become instantly more stoic, though it was easy to tell from the blush on his face that he was more than a little bit aware of Kagerou's continued presence. Holding up the stamp he explained. "These stamps show you are visitors, and that you have passed these checkpoints. If found without one the Kokorokage treats it awfully bad. We have public whippings when it happens, and no one wants that!" Shuddering, he held out his head towards Shadow and Kagerou. "Here. Lemme see your hand and I'll make it short and sweet!"

It's been a long days with her. Some areas she was able to swim, others.. not so much. She really missed the ocean. Her hues glanced up to the side as she furrowed her brows for a moment. Was she going to the right direction? She knew that this land... was once part of Kirigakure. She was trying to find the big tree. Several minutes later, she caught sight of few people gathered in front of some massive wall. It was so tall! Her stomach turned at the thought of standing edge by it. As long she was standing... it wouldn't be too bad. There, she caught a glimpse of the flag... how odd. The symbolism was interesting. She wandered who came up with it. Her eyes scanned back down as she gets closer and started to notice things. A deep inhale and a frown formed behind the mask... no salty smell. What happened? This can't be Kirigakure but it would be good to see some faces of humans and no more of what she's been seeing. Her feet slowed for a moment as the feeling was nagging her. As if she was here. As if she recognized the two people in front of the solider. She can't quite see their face yet, but one of them doesn't have an arm.. who does she remember that didn't have an arm? A sharp gasp as if she was hit by something as she flashed to a face... no.. wait.. yes. A face. She was kind and had green hair as the girl before her does. Then another, he was quiet and kept to himself.. didn't she once upset him? Or was it the other way around? Her heart beat faster as she scrambled through her thoughts and tried to remember their names. Nervously, Nozomi approached the trio of the guard, the green haired female and interesting arm boy, "E-excuse me, have we met before?" She croaked. Part of her was scared, was things playing on her mind? Had she finally been so alone that she was now off her rocker? She couldn't even remember their names, so yes, they were a fragment of her imagination.

Ah well. What's wrong with talking with imaginary people?

              🌴"Cold: the air and water flowing, Hard: the land we call our home,Push to keep the dark from coming, Feel the weight of what we owe"🌴

              "Ho? Whap whap not even the worst of it am right?" Akaho would feel a sudden pat on his rear end. A familiar pat from a familiar individual. None other than the consul of war...Baranara. One of the two prime founders of Kokorogakure and reason behind the tree in their colors that flew so proudly. His tan had grown darker these last three months, a nasty scar on his face from the endeavors that only a consul of war would subject themselves to. As per his oozing masculinity, his hair had grown out several folds though he kept his face clean-shaven now that he had the option. This was done mostly impart due to it being easier to eat food without hair getting one's mouth with the way the primitive ate. Suffice to say when he did eat it was incredibly messy. An amulet of red strung across his neck and what was most pronounced is that the minute he grew close to the group of individuals the overwhelming scent of bananas flooded the scene. If Akaho didn't recognize him from his voice or had any doubts as to who it might have been well, it was undeniable now.

              Baranara at the behest of Hesrick in 'looking dignified' had clothed himself from the previous 'loincloth'. They had to look their parts after all even if Baranara himself likely would have been fine being stark birthday suiting feeling the wind between his thighs once more. While the guardsman held a badge indicating his possession as a mist wraith the dark-skinned man to also carried on his person three emblems of authority. The badge of the mist-wraiths though his seemed more ornate and uniquely designed, a green badge that only showed what seemed to be a tree and animals beneath it to hint at its possible purpose, and finally the crossing of a scythe and spear on what appeared to be a coat of arms atop the current decal of their flags colors.

              "Aka knows what happen if bad people sneak by on Aka's watch right?" Baranara sounded incredibly pleasant when he said the following words. Likely damn near making the boy s**t himself in regards to what it would possibly mean. Although he was being kind in his warning, the man wasn't one who ran things through fear, in fact in comparison to talking to women this may have actually given him a bit a confidence boost in that the latter was much worse. Still there were expectations and Hesrick's expectations were by association Baranara's own this is why...

              Forming a handsign what appeared to be a large needle-like thorn rose from the ground shooting up like a bullet standing ten feet in height. It wasn't made to harm anyone in particular, it rose right next to the sneaky Grey. Something that would perhaps indefinitely startle the sneak if not draw attention to the particular area where the individual was making their attempt at weaseling. Baranara would then place his hand on Akaho's shoulder. "Member Aka, EVERYBODY get stamp. Bahaha." It was here that Baranara would give the rest of the group a friendly nod and laugh. Before he started moving along the walls to look up and down their length.

              The man would then exclaim talking to himself "OHOOOOOOOOOO! ME FIIIIIIIIIIIIIND YOU!" Then anyone who happened to be looking his direction would see the man would pull out a...Banana? He took one step back what he found apparently was a large batch of vines that seemed to have been snaking on the walls, then with a mighty throw of ripe yellow bringer of destruction in a sweeping arc the vines were severed from the structure without so much as any damage done to the wall. The banana then did a complete return as the pile of wriggling vines landed at his feet. He'd repeat this process again until what could be assumed an X-like cut was produced. He caught the banana and twirled it around then blew on it like a pistol in a western before sheathing it. He'd then collect what looked to be AT LEAST sixteen pounds of the stuff and started hauling non-chalantly going back through the gate.

              "Okay me got meeting, you be good you all. Don't be bad. Is bad to be bad. Also, Aka, no forget, eyes open, all times!" He'd say this as he was literally barely visible behind all the foliage looking like some kid of swamp thing. He was likely no older than the rest of them, he had to be, he'd have been dead otherwise, but in a multitude of aspects, this youth seemed more man that boy. Banana's and the one who wields them are not to be underestimated. ~exit

User ImageThe guard, Akaho, had no reason to lie, so Kagerou assumed he told the truth. She felt a little relieved. The symbols were familiar still, of course, and ultimately the policies regarding visitors were the same, but such things could be copied by anyone.

Being able to implement a village-wide, fuuin-based access system was another story entirely.

Ever the law-abiding citizen, Kagerou extended her hand with hardly a fuss and accepted the stamp given by Akaho. Then she slid to the side to let Shadow have his turn, oblivious as before to the presence of a hidden third that had approached under the guise of a genjutsu.

She probably wasn't going to notice Gray anytime soon, to be honest. Baranara made a dramatic entrance, certainly, and quite a show that would have attracted the attention of anyone who was paying attention to him to a certain hidden presence.

Unfortunately for Baranara, Kagerou was anything but paying attention. Just as he arrived and gave Akaho's booty a flirtatious pat (a missed opportunity for a ship, alas), Kagerou heard something much more important, a familiar voice. Sweet as honey and warm as sunflowers. Her head whipped to the source, her sheet of green hair moving aside to reveal brilliant red eyes and a smile that, to Nozomi if she could remember anything at all, would ooze with nostalgia. If anything about Kagerou's appearance could trigger memories, it would be her eyes and smile.

"Nozo-" there was something to be said about Kagerou's confidence and enthusiasm. She called out that name before she had fully turned around, "-mi?".

It was, indeed, Nozomi. Even with her face half covered. Well, actually, Kagerou was used to seeing that face half-covered. Anyways, even with that face half covered, those amber eyes couldn't belong to anyone else. The way she hesitated was exactly as Kagerou remembered. The kunoichi's eyes were basically already peeling off Nozomi's mask and remembering that ever considerate, freckled face.

"Nozomi!" for good measure, the name was repeated once Kagerou verified that this person was, indeed, a spitting image of the young Nozomi from her memories. Nothing more was said. She didn't know how to be careful around Nozomi, gentle lady as she was, as she did with Takeda and Shadow. Once was a miracle. Twice was unlikely. By the third time, Kagerou didn't need a lot of convincing to believe. Without further ado, Nozomi got a nice, big glomp. It was a full body effort, Kagerou literally jumped up and threw her entire weight onto the girl. Her arms squeezed tight, fingers pressing into the skin as much as possible.

That was when a sound came from behind her. Kagerou's head turned to see that there was suddenly a thorn. Her smile didn't fade, but an eyebrow was raised. After quickly ascertaining this was a threat without substance, Kagerou carefully kept her mouth shut.

She paid attention to Baranara now, but in light of having not paid attention to him earlier, what she paid attention to was not the disturbances around the thorn but the person himself, picking up, belatedly, the various aspects of his bearing, clothing, and speaking style.

During all this, Kagerou made no move to release Nozomi from her clinging, unless she could feel that Nozomi wanted out from the hug. Nu, she was going to take advantage of this physical contact as much as possible. She missed her hugs. It's been so looooong, and even though Shadow was right there next to her, she knew and respected his opinions on personal space.

[x] So things weren't quite as kind as they seemed. The punishment for not conforming to rules was severe. And while I understood the necessity, I felt a bit sorry for whoever had just tried to sneak in. After Kagerou received her stamp, I held out my left for the stamp, since, well, putting it on metal wasn't going to work well. The young man stared at me for a moment as if confused, and then looked down at my right hand. I kept my gaze and my hand where they were. An awkward moment passed, but finally he gave in and stamped my left hand, which I dropped to my side, and then retreated, ready to move on.

However, it appeared that wasn't fated to happen, because to different things happened. The first was a familiar name that brought my attention back to Kagerou. Honey girl. Nozomi. Part of the reason I made a mistake that ended in Kirigakure being flooded. She'd been convinced I held it against her for the longest time. I wondered briefly if she remembered any of that, but given the look of confusion she gave, I wasn't so sure she even remembered us. Not immediately, anyway. She smelled vaguely like fish. Had that always been the case, or were my senses more keen than before?

Kagerou, however, did remember her, and almost immediately threw herself at the red-headed girl, pulling into what looked nearly a bone crushing embrace, had she been strong enough for it. Weirdly, I felt a small pang. Despite my aversion to physical contact, I couldn't stop the brief jealousy I felt. What the hell? What was with that all of a sudden? I looked away from the pair to cool off the embarrassment that came from my moment of emotion.

Because of that, I encountered the second occurrence. It came in the form of a muscular man who spoke broken sentences and smelled weirdly like bananas commenting how bad it would be for the guard if someone got past him, invading the boy's personal space enough to make me uncomfortable, let alone how he must have felt. The newcomer wore several badges, showing him as some sort of position of authority. With a handseal, a long, thorn-coated vine shot out from the ground just next to where the hidden trespasser was, making me wonder if he actually did know they were there. I felt the hair on the back of my neck rise, and the tip of my tail twitched, but otherwise I kept myself carefully neutral. There was definitely something going on behind the scenes, and I didn't like it in the least. The man moved on, though, leaving the trespasser undiscovered.

My attention turned back to Kagerou and Nozomi, shifting my bow on my shoulder, and I waited for a moment for them to finish their reunion. But maybe because I was unsettled, I lost patience rather quickly and skirted around them to head into the town. Assuming they didn't try to stop me, either they would follow, or we would just meet up somewhere later. The place looked big but not that big. Neither of the pair particularly blended in with a crowd so they wouldn't be that hard to track down.
