History/Story

Umuthi Wokuphila has a long history, they have kept themselves mostly hidden away from the other prides to protect their elderly and cubs. There have been fires and deaths in their recent history that have cut their numbers drastically making it necessary for them to open their borders and seek new blood if they wish to serve and thrive once more. Many of the families are very small and the bloodlines have become weak. At this time of growth and rebirth, the original members will be accepting new blood into all positions if the applicant fits the colors they hold revered. The Umuthi Wokuphila hold natural colors in high regard and do not accept colors not found in nature considering them to be bad luck. Cubs are loved and cherished, but a cub from a rogue breeding that is not a natural color will not have an easy life.

Beliefs

Pelt colors are important to the pride and are also divided by certain family lines.

Growth and change are very important to the pride, something they lost for a lone time hiding away from the rest of the world, they now seek to grow again.

Some of the noble families of the pride have certain colors because of the members who started the pride long ago.

Even the King and Queen must, at times, bow and listen to the family clans for the good of the pride.

Nature is an intricate part of the Boabab pride, everything from the tree where they make their home to the creatures they kill in order to survive. Nature is to be respected and punishment is dealt out to any in the pride who disrespect nature. If the offense is bad enough or there have been too many offenses the offender will be exiled from the pride.

Those living in the pride make their dens in caves in hills in the surrounding area, while leopards tend to claim the branches of the tree for their own.
Dens among the roots of the tree are reserved for expecting mothers, mothers and their cubs, the elders, and the ill and weak.

The Boabab pride take death as it comes.
They bury their dead at the base of a young tree in the area.
Many families have their own cemetery groves where they lay their clan or family members to rest to rejoin the earth and to be reborn as seeds to start life once more.

New life is celebrated by the entire pride. They have parties and celebrations to welcome the new cubs, warmly welcoming them and congratulating the parents.
To the pride, each life is to be celebrated and welcomed in the pride.
Every member of the tribe is expected to help the tribe prosper and grow.
There are no nannies in the pride since everyone in the pride is around to help out with new cubs.
Even the hunters get babysitting duty.

Mating celebrations

Are held in the spring mostly with large celebrations with flowers and sweet foods, in hopes the couple will have healthy cubs that will help the pride grow.

Is a time of great celebration flowers and joy, berries, hunts, games. A time to celebrate the blessings of life.
