41-44. You suddenly see a clump of Thread. Your dragon wheels towards it. With a flash of hot fire, you manage to catch the whole clump, and turn it into harmless ash. And they say the Queen's Wing doesn't do anything, pfft. You'll prove them you're just as worthwhile as any of the fighting wings. Well done! +1 Flame Length
T'kyr hated needing to fly in the Queen's Wing. Queen's Wing doesn't do anything! She pushed all thoughts of Robhin, who she'd been unable to find, aside, as they took to the skies. It only took a few moments of being in the air for T'kyr to spot the clump of thread. Rivaeth turned, delicate body shifting with ease, as she flamed the entire clump. Maybe queen's wing wasn't so boring, after all...and Rivaeth seemed pleased with herself for her contribution.

17-20. Thread! As you dive towards it, you find yourself missing the Thread completely! It tangles and writhes onto your dragon's front leg and shoulder! Shaffit all! Moderate Damage! -5 HP
Emboldened by their success, Rivaeth and T'kyr dove towards another stray thread. This time, they were less lucky, with a strand of it hitting Rivaeth's front leg and shoulder. It wouldn't be enough to put them out, but the pair flashed between, the thread flaking off in the empty chill. They arrived at the Weyr, without even needing to think about it--Rivaeth would need a quick fixup, because even someone like T'kyr wasn't willing to risk her dragon. (Somehow, risking herself didn't matter as much.)
6-15. You see a stray strand writhe out of the corner of your eye. Your rider quickly twists in her seat, and catches the errant strand with a well-timed aim of their flamethrower! +1 Target Accuracy
Rivaeth and T'kyr emerged, back to fighting force. Almost immediately after rejoining their wing, they spotted another strand. Rivaeth was quick, twisting midair to give a small burst of flame, charring the thread. Trick shot, T'kyr thought to her dragon, grinning in congratulations. Even if they'd been injured, even if the wing they were in was less interesting, they could still be AWESOME.
Feleveth appeared in a surprisingly clear patch of air, immediately catching sight of another dragon about to flap into some wafting Thread. With a loud shriek, she shouted into their mind, warning them away from the danger just in time.

26-30. As you're looking for the rogue Thread, you notice one of your wingmates in danger. You and your dragon call out warning and are lucky to see the pair respond. Quote a Wingmate and have all damage removed from their most recent roll!

85-89. A tangle of Thread manages to slip through! Though you try to get it, you're not fast enough, or aim was way off base. Though it doesn't hurt you and your dragon, you do watch as it makes it through the last line of defense, to fall upon the helpless world below. Crops, plants, animals, and even possibly people are now in danger... you can only hope the ground crews will find the burrow safely once Thread is through. If this is your fourth time rolling this status, you start feeling Guilt [Take 3 Turns of Guilt! Any Damage rolled takes an additional -4 HP. Any successful bonuses by other players don't affect your character. You just don't deserve it. ]
Their pride was shortlived--distraction caused Rivaeth to miss a small clump of thread. Horror struck the white's face as it fell towards the ground. Oh no... Still. It was only one failure. She wouldn't let it get to her...yet.
It was time, finally! Baihath kept wanting to glance back to see if Khamaith was watching him, and Alya was mentally working overtime to keep him focused. Steady, Bai. She thought at him. We have to be the winners of the game today, right? Khamaith will be so impressed with us, if we win! That was enough to snap the white's focus right back where it should be, and he crunched the stone between his teeth with determination.
Too little, too late.
Neither of them noticed the clump of Thread until it was on them, and Baihath screeched as it began to burrow into his skin, immediately popping Between.

Baihath! Alya was panicking, trying to lean over to get a better glimpse of her dragon's side.
Ow! His eyes were whirling grey--and if anything, he was even more distraught that he'd already done so poorly! I am okay! He reassured his rider, though he was certainly more hesitant in his flying now.
He was... he was okay. Alya forced herself to focus, still reeling from her lifemate's hurts. It was a serious wound--but not so serious that they needed to return. She sent all of her love to him, wrapping him up. They'd do better. Both of them.

2. It's not a fun wound, and boy does it ever hurt! Moderate Damage -7 HP
Perhaps because of their rocky start, both dragon and rider were extremely aware of everything around them. Baihath had darted forward, belching a gout of flame to burn some Thread, and Alya found the hairs on the back of her neck raising. She glanced up, hardly registering what she was seeing even as she squeaked in terror--and the white threw himself to the side, barely avoiding a bag of firestone as it plummeted back down to the ground.
Couldn't they be more careful up there?!?!

70-74. As you're burning down a clump of Thread, something doesn't seem right. With a sudden shout and twist, your dragon lurches to the side, as a shaffing bag of firestone comes hurdling down. Damnit! What on Pern are they doing up there!?! Amateurs! +1 Instinct

They'd left position a few times to deliver Firestone (good practice for Shanaloth as she recovered from her tail injury) and Vetica found herself staring upwards to make sure she wasn't missing anybody who may be reaching out to them....
Shanaloth suddenly shrieked with pain and Vetica's attention snapped back to the green, having found that sound was the worst she'd ever heard after their fall....

More Thread--this time, plummeting straight for her. Alya felt her throat close up with terror, her eyes wide behind her goggles. Baihath! She visualized what she was seeing, and her beloved dragon whipped himself around, blasting the clump to harmless ash in part due to his ability to flame just a little farther than his siblings. She laughed with sheer relief, patting his neck.

1-5. This clump of thread had its eye on you. It defied all the odds and made it through not one, but three wings of dragon riders actively fighting above! It's up to you to flame it! If a Queen, your dragon puts you in position, and as you go to flame it down, you find your equipment's jammed! By the time you realize what's going on, the thread is on you, your arm, your legs, your dragon's neck back, and side. It has attached, and immediately starts to feast! Major Damage -15 HP if a Queen. plus Painful status for the next 3 turns. This will negate any XP gained, and cause double damage if the prompt includes damage (or has you roll for damage).
If not a Queen, you successfully flame that Thread down and turn it down into harmless ash! Take that! Job well done! +2 Flame Length

It's a nasty tangle that gets over you and your dragon! Though they pop Between, it's caught part of their wingsail, and may have burrowed into their sensitive stomach and side. Better hope the cold of Between gets all of it! Major damage -10 HP
It was as bad as her heart had lept to it being, and Vetica forced Shanaloth between to shake it off. Are you alright? Vetica demanded as they settled, leaning over the green's side to try and get a look at the damage. This was bad...

Unfortunately, that fancy maneuvering was enough to wind Baihath--just as an enormous gust suddenly roared past them. Alya hunkered down low in her straps, biting her lip...

A whole lot of nothin'. The Queen's Wing can sure be quiet sometimes. You should be getting XP points for patience the way this is going. Part of you wonders how your fellow wingmates are doing... maybe your dragon can get you a status report.
Vetica was thankful for the moment of calm she had to feel out the extent of Shanaloth's hit. We're going back into the bowl, Vetica stated - no arguments allowed. Shanaloth didn't put up much of a fight against it either, blinking away once she'd informed the lead as to where she was going.

Determined to not mess up again, Baihath strained and gave a few mighty flaps, combating the winds until they ebbed once more. Phew! Still safely where they should be.
