As of late, he'd found there was a lot more room inside of his - their - heads for thinking in. Like someone - he - had come along and just knocked down a wall on a too small room and found an entirely new hallway with so many more rooms to go through. Fortunately, they didn't have to be searched through alone.

But it made D'rok look particularly somber on some mornings as the grind began - feeding and oiling a dragon on the outside, while inside he'd just discovered some other new place that had stores of facts he'd never known of before. He did now, though. Even if it felt less like he knew it, and more like he was constantly reaching for a book and would be handed it if he waited just a moment longer.

Someday it would likely feel more seamless.

Perhaps.

D'rok looked up from the piece of Firestone he'd been very attentively assessing and down at Khazariath, who had neatly settled himself at the young man's knee where he'd been in turn very attentively assessing the rest of the going-ons at the table. Every time he looked a new thrill rushed through him - his, his, his. He'd have been perfect in any form, really, but he was painfully aware of what they were.

And how his pride could be taken.

But you are aware. That is what matters, Khazariath said, attention not wavering from his siblings who were also on duty for such a chore that day.

He certainly hoped they were all taking it seriously.

It felt like just yesterday when she'd Impressed and yet it felt as though a lifetime was what they'd already had together, for Kourith had wriggled right into her life. Some days she wondered if the way he'd climbed between her ribs and curled around her heart was the way it worked for everyone, but Veri just smiled it off and continued with whatever it was that she was doing. She'd never been one to live overly in her own head after all, even if she could should she need to. Being the best, finding a partner that would press her ever forward in that, it was what had mattered to her.

Kourith ticked every box she had beautifully, as he should really being her soul mate before she'd even known she had one. Truly, he had always been there, just on the other side of Between ready to come to life.

Focus on what you're doing, please? Kourith's voice slid into her mind abruptly. For as much as she'd even had the passing thought that she didn't live in her mind, Verica was so bored sorting stones that she'd begun to overthink.

"Well this would be much more interesting if there was some spice to it." Veri actually sighed a bit, but she continued to sort the stones as she'd been taught, carefully glancing at each lest she incur her blue's wrath. Between stones she cast a glance at her fellow weyrlings to see if any of them had the same look upon their faces that she had internally. Most of them looked focused though, or focused on their dragons if not on their tasks. With Kourith she had been playing and exercising and practicing to be the best as they both wished, but to focus everything on him all the time actually made the blue scold her for not focusing on other things. A smile crossed her face slightly, because she knew secretly he liked it despite what he said.

This was their time to bond and grow closer after all.

Her eyes caught with a dragon's instead of his bonded's and Verica blinked at Khazariath for a moment. From everything she'd seen he was a very serious and studious dragon, could he laugh? She waved with a bright smile to him and felt Kourith shift beside her to look as well. So she pulled a playful face.

Oh! Khazariath sat up a little bit taller as Verica caught his gaze. He was a bit more than passing familiar with the young woman - mostly due to Kourith's interjections at the feast earning him an extra note of caution in his mind. Still, he offered a small kreel of greeting, causing D'rok to look from his inspections to see who it was his dragon was talking to.

Not that he'd really needed to look to know. There really was so much more room between the two of them that at times, he felt himself simply falling into the space on the side of the invisible line deemed Khazariath's space. Khazariath didn't seem to mind at all.

"The spice is in making sure every bag is useful to who has to use it, I guess," D'rok answered to Verica's earlier statement. His expression tightened just a bit, betraying his similar lack of enthusiasm in the task. "I know when it's us using it, I'll be thankful to have carefully sorted and packed stone."

But that was months away. Some of them would perhaps not get to that point.

Having noticed the slight tensing the little bronze had when she waved playfully at him, Verica almost had regrets. Had she spooked him in some way that he was nervous of her, even the greeting he gave was reserved. Though she had some memories of him from their lessons together she had to admit that she personally didn't pay much attention to the dragons the others had impressed. Kourith was her dragon and the one that she was determined to work with first and then she'd maybe learn to focus on others as well, but for now...

You didn't spook him, that's just how Khazariath is. Kourith interjected thoughtfully to His alone, he'd been watching the small interaction with a bit of disinterest, his larger and brighter brother seemed to be taking the task seriously and was doing a good job, he'd have immediately gone to his side to correct him should he have been doing something else. Or would have tried, as he could feel the invisible leash of Veri's bond seem to tighten a bit at the very thought of it. Instead he leveled his statement to his brother, Don't worry about her, she's just a very friendly type. I rather think she finds you pretty, feel free to ignore her so she can get back to the job at hand, if you like.

Casting a glance down at Kourith, it took everything that Verica had to not elbow the top of his perfect little blue head for that statement. Though she'd waved she'd gone back to sorting stones and she was no fool. "Yeah, I guess it wouldn't do to have someone be in danger because of my boredom, even if I'm the one in danger." She heaved a sigh and laughed a little. "I just wish it were a little bit more like a game, there are ways to make things less dull for everyone involved. Really there are." A mischievous grin was flashed towards D'rok even as she continued their chore, keeping a careful eye for bad stones among the pile before her.
