              CHILDHOOD
              xxx»» Rian was born the second child and younger son of Miles and Newlyn McLellan. His parents are both very artistic, musical people; his mother runs Dominic Maestro's in Hogsmeade, while his father works as a professional violinist. His father, along with his aunt Morven, also happen to be a werewolves, something Rian was not made aware of until he was about eight or nine and deemed mature enough to handle it. While the thought was disconcerting, Rian has never been frightened of his father, aunt, or the other werewolves in his pack, knowing that they pose no danger to people so long as they take their Wolfsbane potion.

              Rian was raised primarily in the small, sleepy village of Hogsmeade, and his most frequent playmate was his elder brother, Angus, who he always got along quite well with. He spent most of his time either in his mother's shop or playing down by the lake or in the hilly highlands. A quiet and solitary little boy, Rian enjoyed the slow pace of life around Hogsmeade and never had much of a desire to go anywhere else. He wasn't very upset when Angus went off to Hogwarts, knowing he wasn't that far away and that his own letter would be coming within the next two years. All the same, he was a little nervous about going away to school, since he wasn't used to being around large groups of children his own age.

              SCHOOL YEARS
                  FIRST YEAR »» Despite a shy and nervous beginning, Rian got through his sorting and introduction to Hogwarts with no major embarrassing incidents. The Hat placed him in Ravenclaw, to no one's surprise. Fortunately he was able to befriend Austen, a fellow first year, and also joined Art Club and the tabletop RPG club, where he met Hitori, another first year. Overall, he had a fairly happy and peaceful first year, even if he got horribly lost a few times and once had to spend nearly ten minutes guessing an answer to a very difficult riddle.
