Name: En'cai (formerly Banencai)
Age: 30
Nameday: 3546.02.17
Sex: Male
Sexual Orientation: Defintely likes girls. The right guy might turn his head. But he defintely likes girls.
Weyr: Western Weyr
Rider Rank: Wingrider
Previous Rank/Craft: Apprentice Woodcrafter
Physical Description: En'cai is big. Not just tall -- which he is at 6'5" or so -- but broad as well. He looks like he's spent a life doing heavy lifting and it doesn't look like he's letting himself slack off, now that he's left his 'craft life behind. Wide shoulders, broad chest, paws for hands with blunt fingers, and a ide grin, it's no wonder that when he laughs, the sound fills a room. Deep black hair is short and spiky, despite his best effort to make it lie flat. Heavy eyebrows shadow olive-green eyes, a spark of color in a dusky complexion tht is always shadowed by rough beard growth.
Personality: He's also lives for living. He throws himself 150% ito whatever is currently occupying his time, be it drills, repairing straps or carousing the Weyr after a lost Flight. He is loud, he is boisterous, and he loves to laugh.
He's also fond of bursting into song at random, with some probably off-key ditty he made up on the spot. Don't expect beauty in musical form from the big man, but know that he's probably enjoying making you wince and squirm.
He can be a little overzealous and enthusiastic, which sometimes means he forgets his own strength. He has knocked a friend or two over while being merry and has slapped someone's back hard enough to make them spit out a mouthful of drink more thnan once. He always apologizes. Being rough is not his intent. Far from it, as a matter of fact. Because he's big, he does his best not to use it in a contentious situation. Unless he is joking, he will not crowd someone's personal space or loom for effect. He is not particularly graceful, but he does try to take care where he steps, and if necessary will se's a pushover or uimply pick someone up and move them out of the way, rather than collide or crash into them.
He doesn't have a fuse, or rather, his temper is so slow to kindle that very few have ever seen his patience run out. That by no means means that he's a pushover, unwilling to stand up for what he believes, or shies away from defending those in need. He is happy to come to the defense of someone in a tight spot. He simply doesn't look for trouble where it hasn't already bloomed.
His closest friends are family to him. As near and dear (and sometimes perhaps more so) than his own. He can be trusted. He can be leaned on.
Unless he's meant to be somewhere specific at a particular time. The man can *sleep* (nand snore), he has a very shoddy internal clock and he is perpetually late to any appointment. **He often misses meals at regular hours and must do his best to charm lower caverns staff if he wants to eat. Sometimes it works. Other times, he suffers a growling stomach. Less frequently, he'll miss a drill or wing meeting. Though he has not been removed, he has been reprimanded and knows that he is being watched. He's trying! There's always room to improve.**
Positive Trait List Cheerful, boisterous, patient, temperate.
Negative Trait List Perpetulally tardy, clumsy, occasionally careless
History: Banencai was born at Shady Bend Hold, northeast of Paradise Falls as the rivers flow. He comes from a large family, and hat's not a joke on their physical size, though there is a tendency toward height among some of the people sheltered there. Banencai is one of six children, third oldest of the boys.
If asked, he would say he had nothing to complain about growing up. His parents, his uncles and aunts were adept with wood, and learned a thing or two as well, living among the trees. He spent his time fishing the rivers, helping to strip leaves and bark from branches before they were bent and split for use, and rummaging through the jungle for nests of wild firelizard eggs. He'd seen a man come to the hold once with half a dozen of the little beasts crowded on his arms and shoulders and from that day, he dreamed of having his own fair.
He's still dreaming.
He came to Western when he was 18 in the company of a young woman he'd grown up with. More than friends, he followed her because she asked. It was really as simple as that. Well, that and the Searchrider's dragon thought there was potential for a good match buried inside Banencai too, but that was secondary to Banencai's willingness to make the long trek.
They stayed, and Stood, together for four years. Every Hatching that passed without either of them Impressing was another chance for Banencai to try again, to ask her to go home. To consider that maybe the dragons weren't for them. That they were meant to be in Shady Bend with their family. She wheedled one more Hatching out of him every time. He relented and stayed for her sake.
And four years into their "brief adventure", Banencai discovered what she had hoped for all along. Spurth hatched like a bolt of energy targeted directly at the big man's heart, and a match was made.
She did not Impress.
And in the face of another disappointment, with the knowledge that the Weyrling could not live with his girlfriend, she left Western Weyr and went back to Shady Bend alone.
And En'cai, both elated and broken-hearted as he was, decided he would make himself the best life he could with the partner he had now.
Other: Despite a bad end to his "fairytale", En'cai does not mope. He is happy and content, at Western, with Spurth, and though he's gone back to the Hold since Impressing, he will sincerely report that Western Weyr is now his home.
Also: sibs! Sibs for playing!
DRAGON
Name: Spurth
Age: 8
Color: Bronze
Size: 42.5"
Physical Description: Maybe a little under average size for a bronze, Spurth is nonetheless healthy and hardy and raring to do, He is compact, rather than small, wider at the shoulder joints and tidily tapered toward the tail. He is fairly agile for a bronze, as a result.
Personality: Spurth is a match for his rider, without question. Energetic and excitable, S[urth has a tendancy to get very invvested in whatever has caught his attention for the time being. He is determined not to give up, sometimes beyond the pint where he really *should* have moved on to something else.
He is friendly and outgoing, willing to be a companion or assistant to nearly any dragon. He is also a fan of play, in whatever sense the word is spoken. He will race other dragons, enthusastically join in Flights, and listen with undeniable eagerness to any story from any voice. When play is over, he is eager and content with getting back to work.
The one area where he and His are least alike is in their devotion to prompt duty. While En'cai has a tendency to be late to all occasions, Spurth is no doubt the reason the rider sometimes shows up at all. He is driven and quite hard on himself when he fails at any thing. Rather than sulking, however, he picks himself up, gives himself a good shake and tries again. Never surrender!
